My 98 has 289k and she's my daily driver, she loves the gas but she also never fails to amaze me, no locker but with cooper at3's and good kyb shocks she is very capable all a old guy needs to play in the snow or mud in the process of making her National Forest and BLM "Friendly" Simply Put I Just Love 3rd Gen 4runner's.....
Nice ride. I'm in the process of building out a camper conversion inside my 4th Gen 4Runner. I removed the backseats and started building a bed/deck with an insulated sub-floor in the back cargo area and storage underneath it where the backseats were and the rear foot wells are. So far it looks great, just need to finish it off with a hatch for storage access.
rear spoiler above window is so exhaust fumes dont enter the cabin. The fin pushes air down over the window entry and deflects gasses that may be caught behind the vehicle. All cars with rear window that rolls down all have these.
Some early 3rd gens that are base models don’t have the wing/spoiler. I wish my 96 had it because the fumes do come in with the rear window down. There’s also some JDM/Hilux ones that look similar to 4th gen 4Runners. Cool stuff
It really does look like they're old friends. Down2Mob Guy keeps getting distracted by every noise, sight and sensation the outside world is giving to him, and 4Runner Guy just waits patiently for the distraction to pass, and without missing one beat gets right back into what he was saying. As though they'd both done this same thing a million times hanging out over the years.
someone has probably already said this, but the rear spoiler is to channel air down to prevent the wagon back effect when the rear window is down. it was standard on all 3rd gens. the later models dont have it and have a horrible exhaust smell when the rear window is down.
Adam Smith yes but 2000-2002 had the most features and fixed all the problems with the previous years. most modern version of the 3rd gen 4Runner some people if you ask them say the 98 was the best because that was the year that they ended the flat basic bumper that didn’t stick out as far
Hey Nader. I need some tips. On my 2000 toy 4r. Just replace valve gasket and they checked timing cover and its cracked. So I'm bummed. Cant afford 800 $. But live your addition to your toyo.
I had a 97 4runner I loved it. I still miss that thing should have never sold it but I couldn't figure out how to live in a truck that small. Now I'm totally looking into Tundras and Sequoias for when I'm done rocking my van. Fun video! Loved it!
Need some opinions. I want to start travelling with me and my fiance, but can't decide if I should buy new and make payments from what I have saved up, or buy old and maybe risk breakdowns but have it payed off
Buy older & get a Toyota! Usually you can find a higher milage vehicle that lots of major work has already been done. New is nice though but payments aren't ideal!
Hi, i was thinking of getting a third gen. 4Runner. I'm about 5' 10". Could I sleep in the back with the seats folded down? I've heard different things about the length. Thanks in advance.

Very sweet 3rd gen. Clean yet capable, definitely my favorite generation of 4Runner.
I love my 99 Runner she is a beast on the trail and beauty on the streets ✌🏼🤩 Respect from Oregon

Really like what you’ve done with your videos recently where you’re editing them makes them have a great fun silly feel thank you for entertaining us
Awesome 4 runner! That rear “spoiler” helps blow dust off the rear window. My old s10 blazer had the same 👍
Also keeps exhaust air out
Also reduces gas mileage haha
Glad to see you’re doing walk arounds of fellow 3rd gen friends
Clean looking 4Runner! Looks like a great every day driver that will get you pretty much anywhere off road!
Best SUV ever .I dont know way toyota not make still this engine and use.

One of the best looking 4 runner I have seen
Love the setup, I run an 02 4runner with 376k miles all original daily driver. Looking at ideas to modify for trails. Respect from GA
The rear spoiler helps keep the rear window clean
One of the most reliable vehicle ever made.

Gotta love 3rd gens
Where is the first place you would take this sahwweeeet 4runner?!
White rim trail
Everywhere!!!
Imogene Pass, Colorado
You mean "sahwweeeet 4RUBB3R
Hi Phil and Koda.
your suspension setup is not what i would define as "budget" this thing has a proper set up!
I’ve owned my 97 ( bought in 2000) for 21 years and it has never broke down. I will never sell it.
What a nice ride and person.
Cool truck!
Nice man! My 98 limited also has the rear diff lock.
Digging the mullet brotha!
That runner is sweet! 🤘
Nice ride. Love it. When I grow up I definitely want one. Vaughn
Have a safe blessed day! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽
Most sought after year is 2002 or 2000
1999-2000 are the most wanted ones. Mid cycle upgrade that fixed the small problems with the 1996-1998 and they still had the elocker

Great truck.
the rear spoiler is to keep dust from getting on the back window
Love that set up
I wish mine had the rear locker.

That rear spoiler doesn't work unless you hit the on button. I think it's near the light switch. 🤔
LOL :P good one
Cool rig.
I was wondering why the frisbee kept getting bigger and bigger, but then it hit me.

my spark plug broke in the cylinder so I’m pulling the head right now 💀

Nice 3 rd gen🌈
Yummy bacon! 🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓🥓
where are my fellow 3rd gen rust belt owners at? Salt Life
jeep is consistently rated almost last in reliability.
I respectfully disagree. I feel the most sought-after 4Runner is the one with the 4.7 liter V8 that can go over 500,000 miles easy!!
The 4th gen V8's are also good too! I just prefer the older styling but having a V8 is nice since the fuel economy is comparable
Not so fond of the 4th gen looks though. I'd go for a 4.7 1st gen Tundra or a Lexus GX 470 before the 4th gen 4Runner IMHO.
You've got 6" of insulation.....
Fuckin sick
