Misconceptions in College Applications - ချိတ် The Hook Webinar

🪝Are you all prepared for the upcoming Fall US College Application?
Well if you are, we have invited a guest speaker to share common mistakes in the application process. Can you take a guess of who this is?

🔸This week’s guest speaker is none other than Ma Yin Min Thant, a student studying with a full ride scholarship in Rice University in Texas, which is ranked at National Ranking 17 in the US.
🔸Ma Yin Min Thant is currently studying Mathematics and Computer Science at Rice University, with a financial aid package of $80504 a year. She is also doing research at the Department of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations Research.
Here are some of Ma Yin Min’s achievements :
🔸In 2020, she ranked 9th place in the whole country of Myanmar, in their university entrance exam.
🔸In 2020, she participated in the International Mathematical Olympiad held in Russia, representing Myanmar.
🔸In both 2018 and 2019, she was chosen as the “လူရည်ချွန် နှစ်ထပ်ကွမ်း”, for two consecutive years.
Ma Yin Min Thant has had previous experience with Financial Aid mentorship and counselling, therefore she is quite experienced with the application process.
🪝In this week’s webinar, titled “Misconceptions in College Applications”, Ma Yin Min will give an overview of the common mistakes in the application process along with her experience of studying at Rice University! This will be followed up by a 30 minute Q&A session.

🔸 ယခု အပတ်မှာဆိုရင်တော့ အမေရိကန်နိုင်ငံ၊ Texas ပြည်နယ်ရဲ့ ထိပ်သီး တက္ကသိုလ်တစ်ခုဖြစ်တဲ့ Rice University မှာ full ride scholarship နဲ့ တက်ရောက်နေတဲ့ အစ်မ ယဉ်မင်းသန့်ကနေပြီး US College တွေကို ကျောင်းလျှောက်တဲ့ အခါမှာ အမှတ်မှားလေ့ရှိတဲ့ “Misconceptions in College Applications” ဆိုတဲ့ အကြောင်းအရာတွေကို ဆွေးနွေးပေးသွားမှာ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ 💌
🔸 မယဉ်မင်းသန့်ဟာဆိုရင် လက်ရှိမှာဆိုရင် US မှာ အကောင်းဆုံး National Ranking 17 ရှိတဲ့ Rice University မှာ Mathematics နဲ့ Computer Science မေဂျာကို သင်ကြားနေတာပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ ပညာသင်ဆု financial aid အပြည့်အ၀ ($80504 per year) ရရှိထားတာပဲ ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။ Department of Computational Applied Mathematics and Operations Research မှာ research လုပ်နေတဲ့ ဘွဲ့ကြို ကျောင်းသားတစ်ယောက်ဖြစ်ပါတယ်။

🔸 2020 ခုနှစ် Russia နိုင်ငံမှာပြုလုပ်တဲ့ International Mathematical Olympiad မှာ မြန်မာနိုင်ငံကိုယ်စားပြုအနေနဲ့ ပါ၀င်ခဲ့ပါတယ်။
🔸 2018 ခုနှစ်နဲ့ 2019 ခုနှစ်များမှာလည်း လူရည်ချွန် နှစ်ထပ်ကွမ်းအဖြစ် ရွေးချယ်ခံခဲ့ရပါတယ်။
မယဉ်မင်းသန့်အနေနဲ့ US college တွေကို ကျောင်းလျှောက်တဲ့ အတွေ့အကြုံနဲ့ Financial Aid ပညာသင်ဆုလျှောက်တဲ့ အပိုင်းမှာ mentor အနေနဲ့ လုပ်ကိုင်ဖူးတာကြောင့် US College Applications နဲ့ ပတ်သတ်ပြီး အကြံကောင်းတွေ ပေးနိုင်သူဖြစ်ပါတယ်။
