I started the year off with around 200 subs without telling anyone I know personally and now have over 1,600 in just a few months so even though I was sick of talking about these movies, I have to thank them and you all fr Sorry I didn’t drink during the vid like I said I would a few weeks ago, still dealing with some health stuff which alcohol isn’t exactly recommended so maybe next time I’m so ready to talk about next awards season and regular summer blockbusters lmao Also be nice in the comments to each other lol thanks
The only people who think Boseman deserved it either haven’t seen the father, or are basing who the award should go to on the unrelated (unfortunate) circumstance that Boseman passed.
Thanks for your reactions. The majority of voters decided Anthony Hopkins was the best performance, in their opinion. Winning a posthumous acting Oscar is never a certainty. Only two actors in the history of the event have ever done so - Peter Finch and Heath Ledger. James Dean was nominated two years in a row for one, and didn't win either.
It's 4am where Hopkins is though, so can't expect an 83 y.o dude to be up that late, plus Olivia Colman was going to give the acceptance speech on his behalf, which of course Team Soderberg screwed up and cut her (him) out.
@@ArvalVampire Maybe they're saying he's finally getting the deserving awards for this performance, arguably one of the best, if not the best, performances of his career.
Hopkins deserved thought it's kind of disappointing they didn't end with what seemed to be expected: Boseman winning. Wild Oscars, and Picture not being last really annoyed me.
They obviously jigged it wanting to end with the Boseman win. But just shows, unless they hundred per cent know it's happening don't change the order of a decades old tradition!
Right!? The only thing that wasn't drawn out was the one thing you'd think they'd dedicate time to. The speech given by the winners in Best Documentary Feature was longer than the entire In Memoriam segment. That's screwed up.
Ngl this year’s set of winners is pretty good (except Mank for Cinematography). I also think the acting category winners are the strongest we’ve had in years.
Best actor win, but not best actress, and i ho seen almost all oscars nomination from 1935-2021, how is posible that Mcdormand have 3 best lead oscars, Sissy Spacek have only 1, Audrey Hepburn 1,Joan Crawford 1,Jane Fonda 2,Kate Winslet 1,Cate Blachet 1+1, Bette Davis 2, Jessica Lange 1+1,Julie Christie 1,Meryl fucking Streep 2+1, Jane Wayman 1,Susan Surandon 1,Susan Hayward 1,Deborah Kerr 6 nomination not win list go on and on, Mcdormand is better actress than Sissy Spacek not she is not, Kery Mulligan, Kirby are this year better but movie about nothing win best picture, this is the movie ho will be forgoten like another oscar winers ho have win oscars
When mcdormand won, I literally said "oh f*** you".... because it just copied the last major award show the baftas. If another award show was in another week who knows who wins actor or actress. Granted mcdormand got more nominations and wins than anyone else so in a way she really was the frontrunner. Baftas picks oscars, lock it in. I agree, I really missed the clips. And like... why not have it in the theater proper? And that trivia portion was so unnecessary. They let speeches go, I did like that. I like speeches not being cut off but yes that did make it longer. Oh and put the governor awards in like the red carpet show just like the songs. Make it like the Kentucky derby. They show another horse races. Do the governor awards like from 5 to 6, people will watch. Just not me :)
Hopkins deserved it, Academy got it right. Fave part was YJ. Show was crap: no song performances in the main show, no clips, stupid parlor game, weird order of categories (they gambled with Boseman winning and they lost), and veeery long speeches (I'm against cutting off speeches but this is what happens when you do the exact opposite and give them unlimited time). Overall, the show promised to "bring us back to the movies" and even teased this would be like watching an actual movie. And I didn't see any of what they promised!

You’ve been drunk on movies, not alcohol. Thank you for everything you do.
I am so happy for Hopkins and Youn Yuh-jong!!!
She literally said in her speech that her name is actually Yuh Jung Youn not Youn Yuh Jung
Ever since Glenn Close started twerking, I had the feeling the entire ceremony would slowly devolve into chaos... and it did.
🤣
I died laughing when you put the octopus on your shoulder for documentary feature idk why
I’m also mad they didn’t show clips
The only people who think Boseman deserved it either haven’t seen the father, or are basing who the award should go to on the unrelated (unfortunate) circumstance that Boseman passed.
Just watched the father and Anthony had the one of the best acting performances I’ve ever seen in a movie. He embodied that character

YES. This. All of this.
I had the exact same reaction as you when Hopkins won, excited but dreading people being mad when they probably didn’t even see the movie lol
This was a wild fucking night. I got lightheaded at multiple moments.
Loved your reaction to Hopkins' win "oh no oh no oh no"

Plus Hopkins later said he didn't remotely think that he would win.
Finally Anthony Hopkins! He deserve it.
¿Finally? But he won an oscar 30 years ago
@@ArvalVampire Maybe they're saying he's finally getting the deserving awards for this performance, arguably one of the best, if not the best, performances of his career.
I wish Andra won the Oscar
I hate that they showed no clips. Them talking was so boring. Never do that again.

"P. Docter only makes bangers" needs to be a t-shirt
I Think they did picture first because they were so sure that Boseman would get it. So anticlimattic
Really put Hopkins and McDormand in an unfortunate spot.
That In memoriam was weird, it said a few names and then sped on by real fast

I was rooting for Riz Ahmed for the best actor but I haven't seen Hopkins performance in the Father I believe he's one of the incredible actor though.
Hopinks deserved that!
I bet social media will be backlashing at the academy. The academy screwed Boseman's perfect ending

Hopkins period. Not even close. Sorry not sorry, but being dead doesn't give you an Oscar.

not sure about Frances mcdormad
I am the first!
Thanks that the sympathy vote didn't prevail!
But now they’re going to get blacklash like crazy!
@@ev7785 only from the sjw and woke white people. Everyone seem very happy (including myself) that Hopkins deservedly won. Just stay out of Twitter
@@beto1744 or maybe people genuinely thought he deserved because of his acting .... it ain’t about” wokeness”
