@TheFloatLife Hey Jeff, you often talk about your personal VESC settings being a "Trotter Start". What settings do you change to achieve this? I don't know if I'd like it but i know I want to try it because I can. Thanks for everything you do!
Float CFG -> Startup, you can adjust the Startup Pitch Tolerance to be greater so that the board engages the moment you engage the sensor. This determines how far of nose angle away from level it allows engaging the board. His board sits at 18 degrees with the tail down, so he would set it to 18 degrees to get this effect. Can't say I personally recommend it though 😂 Just asking for trouble haha
@@nicoaleman Thank you for the explanation. You're probably right with your recommendation but for some reason I want to try it, if for no other reasons then because I can. Haha.
It would still be 1.5 degrees nose down. So not level, but much closer than a standard level GT/GTS with W's, and you wouldn't have to set custom nose high as aggressively to make up for the remaining angle, meaning it shouldn't have too many undesirable side effects. Riding backwards would still feel nose (battery side) high. Not ideal, but definitely workable.
I have a bad knee and my bad knee (back foot ) hurt after a long ride on the W's. Sick rails for control and acceleration, and I was in love as soon as I hopped on, but sadly my knee did not love them back. Looks like Recurve rails also aren't for me bc of that 3 degree increase. Straight back with a 3.5 front would be amazing.
The main factor that really matters in my experience is the total angle (nose angle + tail angle), which is mellower on Recurves. I haven't seen many cases where WTF was too much for people, but if that's the case, Recurves wouldn't be a bad call. They also naturally ride slightly nose down, so you could bump up the nose angle in custom to reduce the tail angle, making the angles closer to like 2.75-2.75 for the nose and tail without it feeling nose high still
Might sound dumb, but try a tensor knee brace. I wear them on both knees and if I don't my knees achieve like hell after rides. Worth a try, 7s a $80 solution if it works
