Ape Lake is deep in the mountains near Bella Coola, BC. A stunningly beautiful landscape shaped by glaciers, it is challenging to get to, but worth the effort. Approximately 23km each direction, we spent 2 days to get in to Ape Lake, one day at the lake, and 2 days to return. These large coastal mountains have my heart and I will have to get back there, with the aim of climbing some of these summits! Thanks for watching!

Thanks for watching, Norm!
The most stunningly beautiful views I have ever seen ❤
Beautiful video Luke and Nina.!:)
I live in Bella Coola... It doesn't matter which hike you take here (there are many) the views will make you weak in the knees.
This is exactly right, the beauty there is astounding!
Great shots with the drone, looks like a tough hike
Wow! I have spent months in the area on my sailboat. It is absolutely stunning. Thank you for a video that makes me consider some on foot exposure to the area! Your contribution, (film) will live on for ever. Please know how meaningful that is! Keep up the good work. I will catch up on all your stuff.
Thanks very much Jack!
Iv only been to Bella Colla once . It was early spring of this year . All I could think is I can't wait to come back the closer it came to an end . Beautiful Country Beautiful video. Thanks
Some of your best work
We have really enjoyed watching your adventures this past summer. Thanks for sharing and great job vloging.
Unbelievably beautiful! I would love to do this hike. You're the only channel that I use the notifications for so I know when another awesome adventure has dropped! Thanks for sharing.
Exceptional video reminds me of the days before the dodgy hat and shades. thanks very much for taking me along vicariously.
Ape lake...adding that to the list of places to go! Wicked video man! Keep it up👍
Thanks!
Thank you for showing those beautiful stone crops succulents
WOW stunning views! Much better than Banff .
Absolutely superb ! I was swatting the mosquitos along with you !
Haha, you can't avoid 'em, thanks!
Thank you for the video it brought back so many wonderful memories! I used to live in Bella Coola, I miss it terribly. So many fantastic hikes there. I was recently looking at my old photos of the area and the many hikes, Ape Lake included.
Thanks Luke one of your best vids yet stunning scenes! Hiking with a cold sucks😅
Dang Luke those drone shots of the glacier were absolutely mesmerizing! Nice work!
Thanks Kent!
Thank you for this Luke! You have outdone yourself with those spectacular views.
Absolutely stunning scenery, wonderful camera/drone capture, and edit ! Thank you all for sharing that gruelling adventure with us at home. 🌲🤙
I really like the balance you had here too in your shots of friends hiking, vloggin, straight landscape shots, and aerials. Nicely mixed up 🤙🏽
Thanks Bradley! Much love
Amazing views and pure mountain beauty ! Some of it was quite a trek through rugged terrain for sure , you all looked to have done well !
Not fun in wet boots I know how that feels !
Another excellent adventure!
you're best yet!
My word your footage and films just get better and better every one, I actually love what you do so much man, can't thank you enough. I've scanned many many times over these maps in satellite with more questions then answers on what it might be like out there. You always paint the best picture! Your ability to nail the epic drone focus shots of the trips. Like that glacier is so beautiful, those peaks look like no where I've saw yet and I've lived in BC my whole life. The second focus on the glacier has an eerie feeling of sadness with how rapidly these places are changing, which again just makes me so grateful for you to bring us along ❤️
I've been looking for a video hike with this type of scenery in the Coast Mountains. This is one of the most beautiful hikes I've ever seen. Right up there with Peru's Huayhuash and that is saying a lot. Huge mountains.
It is definitely gorgeous, thanks John!
Incredible adventure and film work. Thanks for sharing your journey. Always look forward to them and hopefully can make it out there myself one day
Thanks Khan!
We are just looking for ideas for next summer and this might be the hike, great video and the drone footage you got was incredible. Really enjoyed your video, I have subbed cheers
Thanks, it's worth the effort if you can go!
Love the content. Keep it coming.
Nice work Luke, your content is great and your videography just gets better and better. Always look forward to your next video.
Thanks Tim!
Truly gorgeous!

What a landscape, and very well captured bro! This is great
Beautiful man, top vid!
So nice trip!
Wow! Amazing! I have been trying to research ways to get into the coast range of BC, and explore places like these! Very well done video!
Thanks Evan, it's an amazing place if you can get there!
Awesome video Luke!
Nice footage
Awesome video !!! If your around there still check for matsutake mushrooms! They be popping!
Hey Luke are you able to share your trip plan ? My dad and I want to make a trip out to Bella Coola and tackle this wonderful journey! Would be nice if you could point us in the right directions!
Hey thanks for the question, what do you mean by trip plan? I don't have any plan written down.
Beautiful! Not a lot of trail go follow! Did you have GPS to navigate?
bella coola is something else. ape lake is named after thay saw bigfoot there
This is pretty brutal
"forcing oatmeal down" if that doesn't encompass backcountry hiking in one sentence I don't know what does lol
Fun Fact: This place is where Banner stayed at at the end of The Incredible Hulk.
haha
@@lifeofluke ???
good joke
@@lifeofluke I don’t get the joke.
@@lifeofluke I do know is when I saw the movie the first time, I notice Stark Industries in the blueprints for the Sonic Cannons, SHIELD logo being mentioned, and Tony Stark himself in the final scene.
Would you happen to have a track (not sure its really required but might be nice as a reference). We are thinking of doing this summer 2024. Thanks for all your great info and sharing, its appreciated!
I don't do gps tracking but here's Nadine's strava:

What is the name of the trail head? I'd love to plan a trip out there. Thank you in advance.
Luke what time of year did you head out there? Assuming early August???
It was actually near the end of August
Just curious.. obviously bear spray is a must have but wondering if carrying a rifle for added protection is recommended, another must have and if that is even legal? Bear/ cougar encounters really scare me enough to never venture to places i would love to see… great video, absolutley beautiful… 😀
Bear spray would suffice, although I know there are some that like to have the extra protection of a rifle -- only as a last resort because shooting grizzly bears is illegal in BC. There are also many good practices that avoid having any issues with bears, like keeping all food scents away from your tent and in scent proof bags.
Hey there, kind thks for the quick reply….. Doing the inside passage from Campbell River to Prince Rupert… leaving July 15th and plan on arriving in PR around mid September ( 36’ Trawler). Obviously taking our good ‘ol time which leaves plenty of opportunities to explore which is the whole point….. might start a channel to document our journey… thks again. ☮️🇨🇦☮️
