I was always curious to see how these matches go and what are the rules so thank you for explaining and actually showing us some footage from it, it might have been your first time in the league but you did awesome Toxie! Congrats on the video and everyone that reads this comment let's help Toxie reach 10k by the end of March
Just a point with Main Cannons: They're usually second boarder, due to their main role being on the cannons, they're basically not supposed to leave the cannons at all. First boarder is usually the flex.
Naaaa you definitively want your main cannon go board and not your flex, because if the board fail and the ennemy recover and shoot you , having your flex ready to help the bilge is a must have, and not witching the main can into a flex during a battle.
@@thomasmora1908 not really, boarding is only a good idea in an advantage state as a tool to secure a sink on the enemy, in that type of situation it's more useful to have the player who can put out the most pressure on cannons on board which is usually the main cannon. So sending out the flex is usually the better boarder, but often in boarding situations you'll be sending two instead of one so it would be main and flex going anyways.
@@thomasmora1908 It’s very team dependent. When I was on Cursed Sails our flex was main boarder, with some of our line ups our MC is main. All situational! 😊
Great video as always toxie, i too knew nothing about competitive/sweaty sot before season 8 but now im super into it and think its super fascinating. learning the ship roles has been fun af
aaaa thank you! yeah season 8 has been incredible for discovering the deeper mechanics of the game! i really wish the game could facilitate a way of teaching some of these things for newer players.
The only issue with playing with competitively people like this. Is when you go back to playing with the people you normally play with the mistakes you see them making piss you off more
From your point of view all he had to do was throw out a bucket From his point of view you're asking him to do a triple backflip while throwing the bucket over his shoulder out through the Grate
Well, i'm a sweat that mostly solo sloops, but it reminds me of one situation i had when we sailed on a galleon with some of my friends, they collectively decided to troll me and piss me off so i just stopped caring... Until our ship was stuck in a Flameheart World event, being attacked by a skelly galleon AND we got attacked by an enemy ship (brig or another galleon, can't remember), Well they all of a sudden wanted me as a Captain again, i assigned roles and told everybody what they had to do, we won that day, it felt like that scene in PoTC "Captain Barbossa, we need you at the helm! Aye that be True!"
couple things to keep in mind toxie, count your shots so u know exacly when to reball, those seconds count also when you're low health take the eating time to reball IF you're under 5

I’ve always said this game was never built for competitive modes like this, the new mode is the best one we could ever get, much better than a team based competitive mode, one crew vs one crew, as it should be.
Recently found your channel and you've been consistently putting out FANTASTIC content for MONTHS I've so enjoyed binging it and your editing and story telling is so good and I hope you continue to put out great content and see the success you deserve
I really liked this video. Just wanted to say that. You thrust yourself into top tier competition and I thought you did really well. So thanks for another awesome video mate. Cheers.
Something important to note, when you are assigned a role that also means you are assigned a cannon, main takes lead, flex takes next, bilge takes third and helm takes end. this is important to know as you do not want to waste time confusing your cannons with each other.
Very close! Actually from front of boat to back it’s MC Bilge Flex Helm. Your main cannon and flex do majority of the shooting so you want to space them out so that cannons hitting the boat can’t kill, damage both of you. It forces teams to pick one or the other to aim at
@@Zewx_xD this is not how I would recommend spacing the cannons but I can understand your reasoning. For me and my crew however having the two most common cannons towards the head works significantly better.
@@Zewx_xD have never had cannonballs suppress two cannons at once. And also don't get one balled very commonly because dodging cannons isn't too bad once you learn it.
@@Zewx_xD those slightly earlier angles help us greatly, because it means I can start splashing the deck and flex can help me/go for lowers wherever just that bit faster. It can definitely be a difference maker and we don't see spacing out like that enough of an advantage to warrant dropping that extra bit of aggression.
On one hand I really want to join up to this and try improving my PvP skills, but on the other hand... I'm always intimidated joining new communities and I end up just lurking.
very relatable. It's hard to just jump headfirst into a community with established chatters and stuff. good luck out there though, I hope you find the confidence to dive in 💖
Kudos to good gameplay and good teamwork, I just never found it to be a super competitive game. Which is probably explains why I get two tapped all the time.
This is about like fighting ghost fleets. Everyone needs to be organized or you sink. Rare needs to finish making private servers and add all the tools needed to set up all kinds of interesting things. Rare also needs to set up war servers so that war ships aren't constantly jumping in and out of servers. There are some days where I get frequent server merges because everyone is diving off the server using the hourglass.
Yeah, it would be nice to see every server full of activity - but ig that's just part of the charm. You never know what you're gonna run into in this game
@@ToxieSinclaire the biggest problem with the war as it is is that its causing so many servers to merge too frequently with so many people diving. We need war servers to cause the servers to settle.
Anybody else have problems with the cannons not reloading when you’re trying to fire continuously? I’m standing here holding reload and suddenly wonder why I can’t fire the next ball and it’s because it’s not registered that I’m holding the reload button!! I’ve also noticed that sometimes when you die and you hold the button to release immediately, the circle starts going around the prompt, but then just… stops, and you have to press and hold it again. This can happen 2 or 3 times before you can release to the Ferry!!!
@@ToxieSinclaire Oh you mean the accessibility setting? Might give that a go! Only issue is you can't change your mind when you use that, can you? Can you still cancel the action when you change it through accessibility? Thanks

as a main cannon, I can confidently say, that because I am the best cannon, it is generally a bad idea for me to be the first one off ship. I still go anyways, its just not a good idea.
@@ToxieSinclaire nah you're good, as a main I'm usually the one sent out to board, it's because the entire role revolves around PvP ability so your crew is naturally going to be most confident in your boarding ability, main and helm are going to be top deck the most, and it's main's job to basically 1v3 in any precarious situation, trying to top deck splash the enemy and keep the ship safe. I think the reason they don't do this is that the island takes up too much space, so much so that it wouldn't be able to facilitate a 5 ship battle. Good idea though!
