Weight is such an issue for me,i have widdled down my equipment to basicly my RPE drop riffle sluice,my garrett super sluice,XP 15 inch snakeskin a bucket and shovel and various crevicing tools,My hand dredge and i always find myself wanting to carry more but quickly find out that just adding one item that i may or may not use makes the diffrence between a long day of walking or a down right slog of a hike and it can be only the diffrence of a pound or so that does it. It's great to see you educating people on the choices of what to put in a backpack. But you have forgotten some very important kit for Australia. Of course, I shall elaborate . Secateurs ( for blackbberry, gorse , lantana etc) Sunblock , and the good old bug repellent. I also use a gold prospecting app. That uses GPS ( no phone reception needed) as it has a tracking function. So I know my way back, and it helps to know exactly where I have been. I tend to carry a shipload of crevicing tools, some sharp and pokey. I have made a tube out of storm water pipe, sealed with end caps attached to the bottom of my backpack. I still love your informative videos. Wicked, I hope "Josh" does a what's in my backpack! ❤it 😊

Now I'm pretty sure that from previous vids that you do carry one, but I found it interesting that neither you or gadzee never mentioned a first aid kit. Especially seeing you guys live on the island of death critters
i'm a bit color blind, i couldn't see fine gold in my black pan without direct sunlight. When it is cloudy out or such i couldn't see the gold, only the larger pieces. What do you think the best pan would be for someone who has a color blind issue who is also in a low light area normally?

You forgot one very important thing.... Notepad and pencil... NOT PEN because they get wet and stop working in the rain while a pencil can be sharpened with a knife or a rock and used down to the stub. Great for making notes, doing drawings or sketches of landmarks etc because there is nothing worse than going back to an area and going.... Was it that lightning hit stump.....or that one (100m away) or THAT one (500m away).... ummmm.....errr.....fuck.
