The Steve Irwin loss is still a trigger for us. As animal advocates, he was one of the rare "good ones", that TRULY cared for the animals, and tried his best not to displace or disturb them nearly as much as his colleagues. He was a true "good 'un", and his death still resonates years later. He is missed, and now, with Bob Barker's passing, we have lost two major advocates for the defenseless in a relatively short time.

@@LostHope84 You can if it's creating a dangerous or hostile work environment. You also may be able to if you can prove that they caused enough emotional distress. It is a thing you can totally do, and has been done successfully many times.
I still remember the footage that was all over the news the day Steve Irwin died. The scene depicted was actually kind of peaceful if you were unaware what had happened, just an aerial shot of a boat on the great barrier reef, crystal clear water and a sting ray swimming around. Juxtaposed with the breaking news text overlay that Steve Irwin had died.
Bill Cosby, Steve Irwin, and the horses on Luck were the most striking examples for me. If you ever do another 20 darkest moments, I recommend including the following: -The Duggar Family (unspeakably disturbing stuff) -South Park's "201" getting heavily censored -"Electric Soldier Porygon" -The WBD write-off spree (2022) -The Oscars' flagrant disrespect for animation (2022) -The SpongeBob bait-and-switch at the Super Bowl halftime show (2019) -Christine Chubbuck takes her own life (1974) -R. Budd Dwyer (disturbing stuff) -The aftermath of Sinead O'Connor's SNL appearance (1992) -Wardrobe malfunction (2004) -The Swan (reality show, even worse than Extreme Makeover) -Jim Henson's death -Mister Rogers's death -The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer I could go on...
The South Park one has never stopped infuriating me. I'm so sick of having to walk on eggshells around religious fundamentalists. It doesn't help that those two episodes are awesome and impossible to watch without torrenting (at least the last time I checked).
A VERY YOUNG blonde girl [maybe early teens?] was driven to a producer's large house by her mother who told her ''Go in, go up the stairs and do whatever he tells you to do''. THAT is Hollywood. filthy right? boys too. my uncle told me who worked for Universal studios for decades, a very famous female was drunk during her christmas tv special.
I think the voiceover was meant to call Tommy Cooper a MAGICIAN not a MUSICIAN. Although he had released some songs, he was mainly known for magic-themed comedy.
David's situation was horrible no one deserves to be treated that way and all I can say is (speaking for all fellow PR fans) That we are happy for his return and wish him the best. ❤
Adult Swim Axing Moral Orel (2005-2008) After the season 3 episode Alone was a real gut punch coming from the same network that aired The Boondocks (2005-2014) Season 4 admist Aaron McGruder's untimely exit
I remember number 1 most of all. I heard the news, just sat down watched the series on marathon for hours, missed school the next day, then stayed up WAY past my bed time to watch the service. To this day, I still want to go to the zoo, walked where he walked, see the crocs he fed and taught me so much about. I watched Bindi and Robert grow up, I'm watching Grace grow up and she knows who Grandpa Crocodile is.
That extreme makeover story is heart wrenching. People complain tv is too safe and too pc these days but the things we used to do to people for tv is nuts.
Steve Irwin literally called himself the Crocodile *Hunter*. He spent his whole career antagonizing wildlife, it was bound to end badly eventually. Dark maybe, but he brought it on himself.
The fact that men like Dan Schneider go so long without facing any repercussions while being a disgusting human being (with kids in mind no less) and then all that does happen to them is they get fired is so sick, so many rich men do horrible things that they should be in prison for but often get away with it completely or get a slap on the wrist a decade down the line
When i was working in a bank i had a customer who was very old, terrible parkinsons, couldn't sign his name so he always came to me because we got to know each other. Through chatting i found he used to be a chauffeur for the stars throughout the 60's-70's. He told me that he picked up Tommy Cooper from a show in London to drop him back at his hotel, as the journey ended Tommy reached forward and said "Thank you very much, now you have yourself a drink on me" whilst pressing what my old boy thought was a fiver tip into his hand. Turned out it was a teabag. Legend.
The fall of Cosby is really something. He established himself on television and stage and earned a doctorate in Education. At one point, he was worth so much money between his show and his work for Kodak, Jello and American Express that he contemplated buying NBC. Not investing in the network, but buying the whole thing. That didn't happen, but one can only imagine what the television landscape might be if Cosby was the owner of one of the "Big 3" networks. What we didn't know at the time is that his raging ego appears to have lead him to think that he could do as he pleases. He was wrong. By the way, Irwin only died at the scene because some numbnut in the water with him pulled out the barb. Although it hit him in the heart, that barb also acted as tamponade to the wound. If it would have been removed in an O.R. setting, he may have survived. Many stabbing injuries with knives result in the same situation and, if stabilized in place, can--potentially--be survived. You NEVER remove that piercing item in the field. Pax.
Louis CK, he apologized and in his apology did some self reflection, he took responsibility for his actions. he said he was going to take time to work on himself and do better as a person. he did something wrong and didn't deny, deflect or victim blame like most men. i respect for that. i was sexually harassed at work and when i told my boss to stop he said he wasn't, then as it kept going on basically said, you word against mine. i haven't seen him in years but i'm sure he'd deny it now or act like it wasn't a big deal for his 35yo self to be flirting with and making a 17yo feel uncomfortable. if he sincerely apologized to me i'd be shocked. so when someone like Louis does, it doesn't negate his actions but it should not cancel him permanently since he did take accountability for his actions.
Phil Hartman is such a tragedy. He would have done so much more with his life….and those kids on Glee like so many others could not handle the celebrity. Anytime a kid is given success at a young age they should have to be in therapy and have mandated classes on how to handle it.
What happened to David Yost was disgusting. It just shows how some people are in society. R.I.P to those on this list who passed away. The only other thing that should have made this list, and I'm glad it didn't was the death of Owen Hart in 1999. That said, how do you think all those people in the arena were thinking, since they just witnessed someone die right in front of them.
I remember hearing about Owen Hart the next morning at work, and being absolutely crushed by it. I hadn't been able to catch that PPV and it was such a shocking thing.
What about the Jenny Jones Show's murder scandal where former guest Jonathan Schmidt killed Scott Amedure, who revealed his crush on Schmidt on the show?
I remember hearing about this murder on Greek television back in the day, and me being a gay teen, I can't say it traumatized me but made me aware of the dangers we gay people face. Sad but a true fact to this day...
Turned out stories CK told on stage were true and people got outraged. They were fine while he was telling them on stage before. In my country one commedian said: "I made a loot of poop jokes. In a few years someone will say I pooped on him while driving a car or something, and they'll lock me up"
Actually the crocodiles hired an assassin, the stingray, to do the job on Steve Irwin. It's one of the most hotly debated conspiracy theories of the 21st century.
The police ruled that Jon-Erik Hexum was NOT playing Russian Roulette and yet those stupid rumors still persist nearly 40 years after his death. He was exhausted, sleep deprived, working a crazy schedule and had fallen asleep on the set between takes. He’d been acting with an unloaded gun all day, and the loaded gun was supposed to be locked up between takes. It wasn’t. It is surmised that he woke to more filming delays and frustratingly put the gun to his head in mock frustration like we do a finger gun to the head., “Just shoot me.”He put his trust in the industry and sadly that trust was misplaced. It has been reported that he was alone when the accident happened. So how can they claim it was RR? If he was at fault then why did the studio pay his family in the lawsuit? The narrative doesn’t make sense. He was a good guy with a heart of gold, yet he’s remembered only by his death, inaccurately at that. If anyone remembers him at all. Most don’t. He deserves better.
Russian Roulette or weird dramatic gesture, it was a crazy thing to do. I can't imagine how being tired would make a person more likely to do that. Or you would at least check the chamber before doing it. And doing a dramatic gesture like that when there was no one there to see it was really insane. "If he was at fault then why did the studio pay his family in the lawsuit? " That's not uncommon at all. Large companies will often pay off the family even when they know they would win a lawsuit as the payment is usually smaller than the legal fees would be. It would also avoid keeping the bad publicity for going on longer.
@@Jeremy-ql1or sleep deprivation can make one do all kinds of stupid stuff. If I’ve lost 2 night’s sleep I refuse to drive for fear someone could get hurt. I also have trouble waking up, if I rush out of bed and try to do something, I’ll bump into things, knock stuff over, spill stuff. It’s not pretty. Some people don’t wake as easily as others. And that’s on a good day. Add in sleep deprivation and it’s a recipe for disaster. Especially if he’d fallen into a deep sleep and was awakened abruptly. If he had been working with an unloaded gun (are there some on a set that are never loaded? Can someone answer that? I don’t work in the industry so I don’t know), and he knew the loaded ones are always locked up, then I could easily see why the mistake was made. Dumb mistake, sure. I’m not arguing that. Unfortunately he paid for that dumb mistake with his life. A mistake he can never correct. At least not in this lifetime. But it’s wrong to call it Russian roulette, and it’s very wrong to say he was stupid in general. He wasn’t. He was actually very intelligent and had a degree in philosophy. One mistake in life (in this case fatal) doesn’t make one stupid in general. And to mock someone over one dumb mistake is wrong and it hurts the loved ones that are left behind to hear those comments. It’s cruel. (That’s not directed towards you specifically, just people in general.) The studio was unethical, period. I don’t want to get into detail as I spoke with his family and I don’t want to betray their confidence but some of the witnesses were coerced into not speaking out. That alone tells me the studio knows they messed up. I have heard that the guns are usually handled by an educated weapons master that makes sure no mistakes are made with the guns on set and lock them up when not in use. That particular day the weapons master was sent home for budget cuts and an uneducated prop guy was left to do the job on set. Why was that allowed? Why was a loaded gun left on a set with a sleeping star? Sounds to me like the studio bears a huge chunk of responsibility for the accident. There is some reference in the court documents I saw that the gun was somehow defective. But I didn’t see the documents in full so I don’t know what the proof of that was, nor what it ultimately meant in the context of the accident but there is that too. Bottom line is that there were several mitigating circumstances that lead to his death, things that we know nothing about. And things that perhaps alone wouldn’t cause an issue but together spelled disaster. We don’t know for sure. You can say that you would’ve at least checked the chamber but you weren’t actually there. You can’t say with authority that everyone would do what you’d do if it was you. People think differently, and circumstances can muddy the waters of clear thought. But saying it was Russian roulette (when the police confirmed it was not) or saying he was stupid in general is wrong. He was actually a really incredible person inside and deserves far better than what has been said about him. And better than the rumors the industry spread to discredit him.
While I find all of these shocking and/or disturbing, the one that hits me the hardest is Bill Cosby. He was a big part of my life. As a child, I watched his cartoon Fat Albert and the Cosby Kids. As a family, we watched I Spy. As a teenager, I was into his stand-up comedy, owning a lot of his albums. What I loved about his brand of comedy was that it was clean, wholesome and with no f-bombs constantly dropped. He had my parents seal of approval. He was hilarious in Mother, Jugs, and Speed, a movie my friends and I went to see. As a young adult with a child, I remember watching The Cosby Show with my son. To say Cosby was known as America's Dad is an injustice to the millions of others out there who, like myself aren't American. To me, he was the All-Round dad! Finding out his darker side years later was the ultimate shock! While I still have the fond memories of my 'life with Cosby', it comes with a heavy heart for all his victims.
David Yost went through a lot of emotional and mental stuggles for being himself now as a kid when power rangers first came about I didn't know if he was gay or not and to be honest it never even entered my mind so the fact as an adult learning about wot he went through and to go back years later shows immense character 👍
As someone who has been a prop master, YOU DO NOT EVER AND I MEAN NEVER PLAY WITH PROPS ESPECIALLY FIREARMS AND BLADED WEAPONS!!!! I have literally made it a thing for the stage to say for them to lay the prop down after the director calls cut, on the floor.
considering that people die from fucking around with props no! I don't need to make myself feel important when I already am. My job is one of the most important on any set, which is why i am given the power to make my own rules. YOUR WELCOME@@user-vb4ii6yi2y
It is pronounced like toast. Some people who do the stories pronounce it differently than others. I really like watching Amazing Top 5s, and they're all Canadian. They say words very differently... For example: they say "about", and it sounds like "a boat".
I remember being so pissed off about the Lethal Weapon situation especially after reading Clayne Crawford’s side of it because I was on his side since I had heard that Damon Wayans could be a bit of a diva on set and Clayne was arguably the single best part of the show as Riggs. Damon wasn’t really all that good as Murtaugh to begin with. So what I never understood is if the producers had to fire Clayne, then why kill off Riggs? Why not just recast the part?? Riggs was literally the Lethal Weapon as the title suggested!
Ah. I just looked at it. It was a picture of him swimming with the stingray; they just happened to use that along with the cover and i thought that was his dead body. Yeah...probably not a good thing to show on a shelf to a six year old@@user-vb4ii6yi2y
David Yost did not deserve that treatment. Dan Schneider, Louis CK and Bill Cosby definitely deserve the canceling. It's crazy to see how people put up a front on TV for two seconds of fame but they are actually crazy.
EVERYTHING was Clayne Crawford’s fault? No. Damon Wayne’s was a complete douche. And Louis CK? Really? He never touched ANYONE, and told everyone involved EXACTLY what he was going to do-then they, FULL GROWN ADULTS, sat there and watched. They made their own choices
David Yost literally walked off the set of Power Rangers ZEO when gay jokes were being made. Back 30 years ago, gay's weren't accepted or respected as they are today. In Power Rangers Dino Fury, they had their first lesbian couple - the female green ranger had a girlfriend
Roseanne felt so bad that the cast and everyone at the show lost their jobs, so she agreed to step down from the show and the show was brought back without her called The Conners
Wow how sad it is for a person has to think he’s not good enough be of they cared for sad everyone should be able to love who ever they fall in love with period
Some other interesting points to cover is Nia Rivera's body was found on Corey Montieth's death anniversary. Then there's Lea Michele and the toxic work environment she created for EVERYONE on the show. And lastly, Matt Morrison accused of inappropriate behavior on So You Think You Can Dance, which he was then fired from.
Not to be considered sadist, but because of Oshi no Ko being the hit series that it is now, I'm loving these videos that dive deep into the dark side of the entertainment industry, because we all know that not everything that happens there are roses and flowers.
In 1984 when THE COSBY SHOW first started on air, I thought that Bill Cosby was the greatest person in the world. Now, I truly feel that he is one of the most disgusting men on earth for what he has been doing to women since 2 years into his marriage to his wife and even to his own daughter in the mid 80s when she was struggling with drug addiction. And, just because his 2018 conviction and prison sentence got thrown out on a legal technicality, Cosby is not exhonorated and was never declared innocent either. I hope that Steve Irwin is smiling down on his family and is with them no matter what they are going through here on earth.
unpopular opinion: apart from the feud with Lea Michele, I don’t think Naya Rivera’s death was ever part of the glee curse, she sacrificed her own life for her son’s life, it was bittersweet, #RIPNayaRivera
These weren't really "Dark Moments"; they were just kind of behind the scenes scandals. Also, it seems like some of them are pretty tame. That guy getting fired from the Lethal Weapon show for yelling at people doesn't seem like something that would go on a list like this.
Ugh, I forgot about the "1.98 Beauty Show"...man... our family watched that when I was a kid, and I guess I had blocked/repressed that. I've never seen anything so mean spirited on Television, ever, and still haven't since.

He would be so proud of them.
If you ever do another 20 darkest moments, I recommend including the following:
-The Duggar Family (unspeakably disturbing stuff)
-South Park's "201" getting heavily censored
-"Electric Soldier Porygon"
-The WBD write-off spree (2022)
-The Oscars' flagrant disrespect for animation (2022)
-The SpongeBob bait-and-switch at the Super Bowl halftime show (2019)
-Christine Chubbuck takes her own life (1974)
-R. Budd Dwyer (disturbing stuff)
-The aftermath of Sinead O'Connor's SNL appearance (1992)
-Wardrobe malfunction (2004)
-The Swan (reality show, even worse than Extreme Makeover)
-Jim Henson's death
-Mister Rogers's death
-The Secret Diary of Desmond Pfeiffer
I could go on...
So many to choose from too. Jason David Frank should be included too. His sad passing still shocks me to this day
Damn this was a very interesting list, only knew about South Park 😂
The South Park one has never stopped infuriating me. I'm so sick of having to walk on eggshells around religious fundamentalists.
It doesn't help that those two episodes are awesome and impossible to watch without torrenting (at least the last time I checked).

Tommy Cooper’s death is a prime example why we don’t want to see anyone die on live television
Because when they do happen, it gets very horrific
There’s gotta be something darker than Roseanne’s firing.

Phil Hartman's Murder Suicide...I'll never forget where I was when this happened.

Ugh, yes!!! What an ugly thing she did! So sad. B*tch needed a lot of help.

David's situation was horrible no one deserves to be treated that way and all I can say is (speaking for all fellow PR fans) That we are happy for his return and wish him the best. ❤
Jon-Eric Hexum.... my goodness. I haven't heard his name in so long. That man was BEAUTIFUL. My 14 year old self was obsessed! ❤

Perhaps if you have a 20 more darkest moments...include Rebecca Schaeffer from "My Sister Sam".
She's in another video. It's about people who inspired changes to laws or had laws made because of their deaths.

Tommy Cooper musician?
Don't you mean comedian and magician?
The Joseph McCartney televised Communist hearing and how brutal he was to his victims was pretty dark.
That extreme makeover story is heart wrenching. People complain tv is too safe and too pc these days but the things we used to do to people for tv is nuts.
Tommy Cooper wasn't a musician, he was a magician.
He was a comedian.
Tommy wasn’t a musician he was a comedian one of the best us brits ever gave the world!
"He got bored and started playing with a gun" is never a good sign for anyone.
I'm a little surprised they didn't mention the "unpleasantness" surrounding Jimmy Savile.
I was about to ask, how could they not include Jimmy Saville?
My father watched the $1.98 Beauty Pageant when I was a kid and I remember my mother would chastise him as he laughed
Steve Irwin literally called himself the Crocodile *Hunter*. He spent his whole career antagonizing wildlife, it was bound to end badly eventually. Dark maybe, but he brought it on himself.
Amazing video watch mojo of dark moments in television history ever, fantastic job.
Pax.
Dumb post.
True about Irwin and barb.
13:20 do some research! He was a comedian and magician, and DOA is not a term used in the UK!
And his actions were not even that bad to begin with.
Phil Hartman is such a tragedy. He would have done so much more with his life….and those kids on Glee like so many others could not handle the celebrity. Anytime a kid is given success at a young age they should have to be in therapy and have mandated classes on how to handle it.
Tommy Cooper was NOT a musician but a MAGICIAN!
Oh that Phil Hartman one still hurts! Steve Irwin as well that one hurts deep!
I don't think that ever aired (they opted not to)
@@iHeartsNostalgiaPit Given what happened in the end, not airing it was for the best.

In a few years someone will say I pooped on him while driving a car or something, and they'll lock me up"
To this day, I'm still amazed Steve Irwin was killed by a stingray. I always thought a crocodile would eat him.
Actually the crocodiles hired an assassin, the stingray, to do the job on Steve Irwin. It's one of the most hotly debated conspiracy theories of the 21st century.
I would add the Jenny Jones controversy from the 90s. An unaired taping of her show led to a guest murdering another guest.
I been called ugly all my life. Sometimes suicide pops in my head, and but I rebuke it every time. Amen.
...ok...
How bored do you have to be to fire a blank at your temple? Them things still pop… Sad that he passed away but what the hell man.
That's not uncommon at all.
It’s cruel. (That’s not directed towards you specifically, just people in general.)
The studio was unethical, period.
David Yost....man that really hurt to find out that he was being bullied. I am glad that he got through it all.
Glee curse is crazy
David Yost went through a lot of emotional and mental stuggles for being himself now as a kid when power rangers first came about I didn't know if he was gay or not and to be honest it never even entered my mind so the fact as an adult learning about wot he went through and to go back years later shows immense character 👍
I miss Steve Irwin ! He was fearless and trying to the right thing for animals..

I remember when Steve Irwin died. They showed his dead body on multiple newspapers!

Great vid, but how is R .Budd Dwyer's suicide on live television not on this list?
