    Found this watch in my dads desk when I went to visit. He hasn’t worn it in 8 or so years. Left it next to the window and and fully works now. It’ll be my new daily for a while. Love this video to explain a little more.

    The fact that the day, date and month are all displayed at the same time on the screen are the main reasons why I prefer the 2500 to the new 3000.

    IMHO best ever protrek. Casio had and has a winner here. Most functionality of any protrek except the prw 7000. A watch like this really needs a full dial digital display. The prw 7000 is more eye candy than anything else

    This demo and the follow up deserve at least another 100k views. Fantastic job on such a capable device, which by the way, Casio should update with the more advanced technology since its inception. Would love this in G Shock format as well, with no feature omissions Casio.Well done.

    *_This is a fine piece from Casio. The ABC features are very informing & convenient. That said, on any day of the week, in any month, and at any altitude, I’ll take my GW9400 Rangeman as the ultimate ‘survival’ watch. The Pro Trek only allows for increments of 5 in for the altitude; the Rangeman for increments of 1. When accessing the sundry readings, it takes the data a few seconds to calculate & yield the results in the Pro Trek 😧; the Rangeman yields readings in a mere couple of secs, if even that long._*
    *_But both models have premium features which make both models desirable & distinct. Give me the moon phase, the superimposed bearing indicator (perhaps red for the Rangeman), EL backlight, the louder alarm & tone sounds, a replaceable bidirectional compass bezel, & Progress Timer on the Rangeman and it will be perfect. Affix the sunrise/sunset settings, the 1,000 hr Stop Watch Mode, the 24 hr Countdown Timer Mode, the ability to initiate the stopwatch in Home Time Mode, and a 1 minute reading in Compass Mode, this Pro Trek would be the perfect watch._*
    *_What I’m saying is Casio is the pinnacle of watchmakers!!! 😏😉_*

    this watch brings the moon and the sun together and you get world time, weather, compass, and altitude plus all the other features and it doesn't run out of battery...i am going to buy this watch!

    I have that watch. It is fantastic. I can only give it one serious fault. The compass bezel scratches so easily. And from what I understand, you cannot replace it. So my watch looks perfect except for a very scratched up bezel. However, literally everything else about it is perfect. It is also extremely comfortable to the point you forget you are wearing it.

    Well , I got mine since 2011, that was also year of its production- if read correctly codes . Its still my favorite- in daily use, however start having kind of feeling that Our days together are counted , as display overall starts fading and battery stopped charging to H position. If I should say something to potential users, it would be to double check fitting on Your wrist before purchase , especially in more loosen position. Due to this plastic/composite case part below, sometimes U can get painful pressure feeling while slips down on the wrist pressing ankle at carpal part . Also compass ring , made of alu, tends to scratch relatively easy. After 8 years of daily use, letters and symbols are barely visible. I think G shocks can handle aging better way. Overall when it dies, Ill go for some pro trek again, but as U said, there is no real alternative to this watch-its really high end.

    This may in some minds make me look forgetful... but I come back to this site regularly. Especially during the time changes. Maybe this time it will stick. Seems the auto on mine doesn't work I set it but it doesn't change.

    Hey,
    According to your detailed videos on Protrek and Rangeman. You definitely are the right person to ask a question regarding them. Which is better Rangeman GW 9400 or Protrek PRG 240? Since these two seem to be the best in their class. I really the atomic timekeeping of the Rangeman but the whole reason I'm getting ABC watch is for outdoors(Hiking, Camping, Backpacking). TIA

      @WatchGeek  5 років тому +2

      Why not get the PRW version of any protrek, that way you get both the protrek ABC and the atomic timekeeping

    Hello, great video as always! I own the PRG 270 but I want a Casio that combines the triple sensor with tide and moon phase. Once these were covered by the PRW 2500, you know a new model with these features. Digital with solar charge and 6 band.

    16:05, how is being in the dark going to damage the battery? I didn't catch that.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 років тому

      It's a solar watch that uses Lithium battery, and lithium batteries don't like to be completely discharged often. So keeping this watch in the dark FOR LONG PERIODS OF TINE shortens the battery life

    excellent review and one of best watches.. is it there new model of this type watch and that it is not smart watch with battery of 1 week, or i need pair with phone.. some simply watch to use with basic data like; clock, date, alarm, barometer, temperature, altitude, moon, tide, compass, flash-light, solar charge battery, id info, small data with codes memory? for now i only found prw 1500 and prw 2500, is there any other new model? I am looking to buy casio again, got 5 watches already all work perfect even if are some old 25 years..

    Yacht timing just requires a countdown timer. The separate timer reset is useful, but not necessary. It is not easy on the water to hit the start line at the right moment. What I mean by reset timer is that if you touch a certain button the timer resets to the other time, for example a 5:00 timer that goes to 3:00 regardless of where the timer is.
    Edit: For complicated sailing reasons, please note the reset time must be shorter than the main countdown time.
    This reset can also be used to restart the timer, just set the reset time to the same time as the main countdown timer.

    I've seen conflicting information about whether or not this model can show sunrise/sunset times, does it have this feature? Thank you

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 років тому

      It doesn't, all but a few Casio watches have either a moon phase/tide graph OR sunrise/sunset data. Only the PRW7000 and quad sensor Gulfmaster have both that I am aware of

    hello - great job! I have watched the section on DST maybe a dozen or more times, my #3258 watch does not to "AUTO" after home, what am I doing wrong? please help cant get summer time and I am in Florida. Thank you!

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  5 років тому

      Because your home city is outside of the tower coverage so the watch doesn't offer AUTO as it knows it can't get the signal, meaning you have to manually turn it on or off

    I have question. is the tidegraph will show the correct time of the tide ? even in the different places ?

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  5 років тому

      Yes, if setup correctly

    • @Caesar.Aquanaut
      @Caesar.Aquanaut 4 роки тому

      Even if it is not correctly reflecting the tide status of your geographical location, the watch allows you to manually adjust the tide data with the tide data (can be acquired from your local meteorology department) for your area.

    So this model is shock absorbent or shock resistant ! What about the pathfinder model !? Please is important for me as I'm deciding what watch to get. Thanks.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 років тому +3

      This is not a Gshock so it's not shock resistant, but it can probably handle any shock you expose it too.
      The Pathfinder is just another name for ProTrek models like this one.
      Pathfinder name was used in some markets and ProTrek in other markets for the same watches.
      If you want a Gshock that has all the ProTrek functions check our Rangeman or Gulfmaster

      Watch Geek thanks you've been so helpful, I love g shocks but kinda starting to love this models too, they're kinda more beautiful than the g shock ones you mentioned and so neat, the gulfmaster is very beautiful but it's an analog watch and the rangeman is grat also but looks like has come from the videogame halo and it's more expensive than pathfinder for instance, if only these could be shock resistants. Thanks again.

    • @WatchGeek
      @WatchGeek  6 років тому +2

      Oh trust me these can take whatever a Gshock can, the only difference is that on a Gshock you can change the bezel to make it looking now again, while on these the case is the outer shell meaning any scars are there to stay.
      Check out my torture videos and you will see just how tough regular Casio watches are
