Yup got mine back in August 2016 with the manufacturer date of January 13 2016 so it was fairly new and my battery has recently run dried or died out for not using it for a couple years! (Got into an Apple Watch Series 6😖) Luckily I recharged it back to High and still running like a tank! Love my Rangeman still!😎🤙🏻
Just a quick thing on the barometer, this is my 3rd watch with triple sensor I learned a pretty good trick with the barometer with my 2nd Protrek. When setting up your barometer set the temperature 1st then the pressure by using the weather network or if you use IPhone use the weather app. I noticed for the last 8 years that the heat of your body doesn’t interfere with your watch thermometer or sensor. I did a research on it and I fact it doesn’t read your body heat, it’s made to sense air pressure and moist in the air,, with that calculates the temperature and pressure. But it needs help to get it right,, for example the 1st time I tried it it was 33c• so I set it as the weather network. Later that afternoon the I checked the watch to see the temp. It gave me 27c• I checked my app and it was right on spot even the pressure was right. Not my body heat. Even at home the temp is set at 22c• for heat during the winter the watch gives me 19. 4 as it can only sense the air in the house. The furnace thermometer is set to start when it feels below 2 degrees deference. But the watch will only change in 1.5 degree different when the furnace is running after that,, the watch will start loosing heat sense and goes back to 19.4 or 19.1 each room has a different temp. Check it out, Casio made it so accurate that no other company has manage to recreate. From protrek 270 to Rangeman GW9400 it’s amazing, I am now waiting for my GWG1000. Good luck guys enjoy the outdoors I enjoy when hunting and finishing. Happy New Year 2019

This is hands down the best two tutorials for the rangeman! Just got the blacked out on yesterday! I love it. Just getting used to negative display is hard.
Telling your exact elevation is not its purpose, without gps its not really possible. On the other hand it will tell elevation difference pretty accurately
@@truthisbusiness1564 as i explained it before. Its for measuring elevation difference not exact elelevation altough it will tell that too within a hundred or so meters. Since it doesnt have gps built in it can only rely on air pressure data, but since weather can also change air pressure it can throw off the measurment but only by 50-100 meters. If you start trekking set the elevation at home and it will be accurate thruout the day. Or dont set it and it will tell you the elevation difference from you zero point. It is a very sensitive sensor by the way and can measure 1 meter difference even

Great video! You've left nothing out. Waiting on my Rangeman to be delivered in the next couple of days. I would love to see your video on Casio Oceanus OCW-S100. It's the watch I've been pondering for about a year now. €500 is €500 :)
Thank you for all the detailed explanations ! 👍 I just received a brand new black and yellow gw9400 and the serial shows ''A'' which dates the watch back to minimum 2011. Is it possible since this model just came out recently?
Thanks for a very helpful tutorial. Just purchased my watch today. Store did not have the manual. Didn't sweat it though, had already seen your video a couple of times. All good. Thanks again.
My G-shock came in beaten paper box and even the metal box is dimped. The watch looked good despite being a year old so I kept it. Do not care about the box all that much though I suspected someone using it until I saw the metal box dimped. Not sure why anyone would do that, so now I suspect the transport company playing twenty foot drops with their crates or something.
Great review as usual ... well done ... however, if you were to choose one watch between this gw9400 & the prw2500 titanium ... which one would u choos?
That's a tough one... The rangeman has better sensors and is a G-Shock, but that duplex LCD of the PRW looks SO COOL. I would probably end up getting both 😄
Hahaha ... you are absolutly right about both... I have the PRG 270D for 4 years now ... great watch ... I wanna have another digital analogue triple sensor tough solar watch with sunrise sunset ... any suggestions please 😅
15:05 you don't need to take off the watch to get the right temperature reading. Only have to do is adjust the reading while the watch is on your wrist /15 min at least/ to the thermometer in the room where you are. You can get pretty accurate temperature readings like this while wearing your watch.
That is interesting about the date the watch was manufactured. My 5610 has 262H at the end of the code so the 262nd day of 2018 which is only about a month or so before I purchased it.
Thanks for this tutorial. I just received my Rangeman in the mail today and I notice that the barometric pressure graph is kind of all over the place. No up or down, just dots in some spots. Do you think this might be because it's been in a box for 5 days enroute to my home? I'd hate to think it's malfunctioning.
According to other videos about this issue, there are two specific ways to tell: in regular timekeeping mode, press button E (upper left) and the day of the week window should change to the barometric trend graph (little dots forming lines), and check the cat logo on the back - it should have sharp outlines (compare to videos on youtube). If it passes those two tests, it's real. The baro graph is the quickest and easiest test.
Thanks, but how could correct the barometric graphic? There are some gabs? I live in Korea, how could set for the correct barometric pressure and temperature?
Great videos but just one correction I need to add. Decreasing Barometric curves not always associated with bad weather (or vice versa). In mountainous areas like in valleys you have venturi effects which are always lower pressure than flat areas surrounding the mountains thus you won’t have bad weather approaching. Also, areas of low pressure that move do not always move in front patterns, depending on jetstream and windsaloft velocities a lower pressure can move in slow, not cause a front, still have good weather and only cause temperature declines but bring better visibility. Your explanation is only mainly correct in areas of constant same air masses, like in deserts, artic regions etc. I recommend in the future not to always associate downward curve with bad weather, it really depends where you are located but if we talk percentage wise than yes, most the times you would be correct.
@@mf6532I think 202A is the factory code where the watch was assembled. My watch is made in Thailand and has the exact same 202A followed by the day of the year and the letter for the year, which is C because I bought the watch recently, or it could be ten years old. I hope it's not the case. I don't know if this watch is still produced or is discontinued.
Another great Video! My number on the case back has an "A" so I assume the watch was made in 2021. I kind of skipped the altimeter since I don't think I will use that function often but will come back to it once I have mastered the other capabilities of the watch. Question... is there a way of clearing the barometer so it can start over? Anyway, another great video and I appreciate the time you spent putting it together. I almost went for a Mudman but given the ~60mm size and cost of close over $600 I passed on that model and bought the GW 9400 from Amazon for $330, Really impressed with my first GShock! Thanks again!
A can also be 2021. I just got a GW-9400-1 and it has B on it so most likely 2022. It cycles through the letters for every 10 years so the letter really only tells you the last digit, but if you didn't buy it before 2021 it's pretty safe to assume it was made in 2021 I'd say.
same here, just purchased it (september 2022) and the last letter is A, so either my watch is eleven years old or is from 2021... quite a dillema **scratch that, the rangeman was released in 2013, it means my watch is from 2021
I absolutely love this design I own 2 but find the buttons press too easily by accident too often and it’s very complicated to use and setup and it doesn’t get a satellite signal hardly ever at all even though my frogman has no problem receiving a signal daily
You might have info on, in the barometer mode. This will prevent your rangeman from being able to use the power save mode and receiving the atomic signal at night. That or you live outside of the atomic tower range where it will still pick the signal up
Adjust button, your altitude changes with pressure!! That means you need to do a calibration before you leave for a hike or whatever! Weather changes pressure , so that means the altitude changes. It’s simple.
Not convinced the barometer changes?! The altitude is calculated off of the one and only pressure sensor on this watch! Same as an aircraft, same as the weather service. Density of altitude, ie changes day to night.
You made it really easy to operate the watch thankyou. i bought a rangeman and wanted to ask a question. My compass only displays bearings and the direction for around 40 seconds and then goes blank, it resumes only after i press C button. Is that how it is supposed to be. Thanks
Great tutorial, I just received this Rangeman with carbon fiber strap from Japan, according to your explanation about fabrication date I looked it up on the back, it was produced in 2017. More than 4 years old, is that normal?
+demi nerm GWX5600 has more functions (tide graph and moon data) BUT the stopwatch goes only to 60 minutes, or 1 hour where on the GW6900 it goes to 24 hours, Also the countdown timer on the GWX5600 can be set to only 99 minutes so hour and a half while on the 6900 it can be set to 24 hours. If you don't have need for the moon and tide data the 6900 is better. It all depends on what functions you use more.
Check out Part 1, there under "setting time, date etc. You will find the 12/24 hour setup, you have a table of contents in the description of that video so you can jump to that part
Hello, I wonder if some Gshock may not have this code with the serial number, the factory where it was made, which you mention at the end of the video? I'm asking because I noticed that there is no such thing in the G-7710 brother.
this is an old Video, but a very good tutorial. i am planning to get this watch and downloaded the manua, had no idea how to use all These functions until i´ve seen the video...who the f gave a thumbs down ?!
thx for the great video. got my gw9400 for a week now - but barometer keeps the same value 1018hPa, even when the graph changes up and down from sunny day to a storm (graph works correctly) - can you explain why the numeric value is not changing? (it only changes the altimeter height +- 30 metres, but the watch is on the same level, not travelling) I find this very annoying and not working properly. if barometric graph changes, so should the baro value, isn't it?
Instead of reading the manual that came with the watch to set it up, I find it much easier to watch your video. Good job.

Watch Geek got my rangeman yesterday. Wow. Awesome watch. And thanks again this has been very useful.
+Bilko Prince congrats and I hope you enjoy it for years to come 👍
Thank you for all the detailed explanations ! 👍 I just received a brand new black and yellow gw9400 and the serial shows ''A'' which dates the watch back to minimum 2011. Is it possible since this model just came out recently?
It has to be 2021 since now we are in the “new” 2020’s
Thanks for a very helpful tutorial. Just purchased my watch today. Store did not have the manual. Didn't sweat it though, had already seen your video a couple of times. All good. Thanks again.
Congrats on the watch and enjoy ti for years to come 😊
I'm getting my GW 9400 Black Panther tomorrow (as my dad will return from Tokyo) and I am very grateful for both your videos!
Congrats on a new watch 😊👍

Makes sense. Good to know. Thanks
What if you are outdoors? No thermometer to compare there.
@@MrCarpen7er Adjust if you have thermometer near you once. After that you don't need to do anything just check the temperature wherever you are.
I'm confused by these instructions. Please clarify....
Doesn't work like that
That is interesting about the date the watch was manufactured. My 5610 has 262H at the end of the code so the 262nd day of 2018 which is only about a month or so before I purchased it.
Ok, wtf
@@yeaa6069 what?
Thanks for this tutorial. I just received my Rangeman in the mail today and I notice that the barometric pressure graph is kind of all over the place. No up or down, just dots in some spots. Do you think this might be because it's been in a box for 5 days enroute to my home? I'd hate to think it's malfunctioning.
Just give it time in the open air
Great video, my watch doesn't have a serial # like yours, does it mean it's fake .Please let me kmow if I have to return it. Thanks

Thanks but I have already had the watch validated by a dealer, Happy holidays
Great video, I'll forget most of it, till I need it. Thumbs up
Thank you.. I finally made full use of my watch.. I was never able to understand the manual.. :)
+Mark Larsen I'm glad I helped 😊
And enjoy your watch
Good Job man, had the watch for 2 years never know how to set it up until now :P
I'm glad I helped 😊
Thanks, but how could correct the barometric graphic? There are some gabs? I live in Korea, how could set for the correct barometric pressure and temperature?
Great video mate. Thanks a lot!!
Wow Awesome overview. Much appreciated! never seen such a thorough review on a watch! Subbed

Nice and fresh! I love mine but it's been a headache trying o familiarise myself with all the functions. These videos have been a heaven send
Really clear and straightforward video. Thanks.
+Andres Reza thanks :)
Back of my rangeman says 202A084B whats date was it made? Great video
The 84th day of 2022
I got mine back in 2014 with the same 202A.
@@fuloplehel Still in production.
Man , you know almost everything about the watch
thank you for sharing your informations
Haha thanks for watching 😁
Is it possible that my rangeman was made in 2011? it says A at the end as a code. and it was made in the same factory as yours.
A can also be 2021. I just got a GW-9400-1 and it has B on it so most likely 2022. It cycles through the letters for every 10 years so the letter really only tells you the last digit, but if you didn't buy it before 2021 it's pretty safe to assume it was made in 2021 I'd say.
same here, just purchased it (september 2022) and the last letter is A, so either my watch is eleven years old or is from 2021... quite a dillema
**scratch that, the rangeman was released in 2013, it means my watch is from 2021
I absolutely love this design I own 2 but find the buttons press too easily by accident too often and it’s very complicated to use and setup and it doesn’t get a satellite signal hardly ever at all even though my frogman has no problem receiving a signal daily
You might have info on, in the barometer mode. This will prevent your rangeman from being able to use the power save mode and receiving the atomic signal at night. That or you live outside of the atomic tower range where it will still pick the signal up
Really great info....thanks for giving us some valuable data.
Chris.
+chris scott I'm glad I was of assistance :)
Can the Altimeter be calibrated? Mine is way out from the given elevation for my area. I think the temperature and Altimeters are a bit of a gimmick.
I'm looking for the same thing. my entire state is basically at sea level, and the watch says I'm at 255' in elevation
Adjust button, your altitude changes with pressure!! That means you need to do a calibration before you leave for a hike or whatever! Weather changes pressure , so that means the altitude changes. It’s simple.
@@JAMESWUERTELE Hi James, thank you for your reply, but I'M still not convinced.
Remember this video was 5 years old when you posted
Thanks a lot for this video
Receive my Rangeman today 24th Sep.2022
perfectly understood how to use ABC sensors
I am definitely going to keep Parts 1 and 2. Great presentation! Many thanks.
I Appreciate this tutorial.
+demi nerm thanks for watching and I'm glad it helped :)
In between gw-6900 and gwx-5600, which is better?
+demi nerm GWX5600 has more functions (tide graph and moon data) BUT the stopwatch goes only to 60 minutes, or 1 hour where on the GW6900 it goes to 24 hours, Also the countdown timer on the GWX5600 can be set to only 99 minutes so hour and a half while on the 6900 it can be set to 24 hours.
If you don't have need for the moon and tide data the 6900 is better.
It all depends on what functions you use more.
Thanks.
+demi nerm no problem :)
i will receive my rangeman by tomorrow, and ur video really help me man. tq so much 👍🏿
Just got my watch, everything already set like I like it but I can't figure out how to set 24 hour time...?
Check out Part 1, there under "setting time, date etc. You will find the 12/24 hour setup, you have a table of contents in the description of that video so you can jump to that part
Hello, I wonder if some Gshock may not have this code with the serial number, the factory where it was made, which you mention at the end of the video? I'm asking because I noticed that there is no such thing in the G-7710 brother.
Thank you for your guidance. It is very much appreciated.
this is an old Video, but a very good tutorial. i am planning to get this watch and downloaded the manua, had no idea how to use all These functions until i´ve seen the video...who the f gave a thumbs down ?!
thx for the great video. got my gw9400 for a week now - but barometer keeps the same value 1018hPa, even when the graph changes up and down from sunny day to a storm (graph works correctly) - can you explain why the numeric value is not changing? (it only changes the altimeter height +- 30 metres, but the watch is on the same level, not travelling)
I find this very annoying and not working properly.
if barometric graph changes, so should the baro value, isn't it?
