As someone who's had some experience watching a live edit take place for a live TV show, this is exactly how it happens, only around 10 times more complicated due to that many camera angles and graphical inserts. There's usually a step after the master screen where a graphic designer puts in the graphical inserts before the broadcast output. So it's even more complex than you'd think.
Tiffany Schraer It can. It depends on 2 things primarily: the size of your market (how many people your broadcast reaches) and if you’re in a union or not. I work in a top 15 market in the US, but non union. I make 45K a year. Tv can make bank or virtually nothing. It’s a hard field and you have to work your way up. this game makes me so happy, when I was in 8th grade through high school, I was a video director at my church. It was much similar to this exact game but I had to talk on a com system and tell the cameras what to shoot while switching between shots, it was a highly stressful environment seeing as there was a live audience of about thousands of people, nevertheless I always got such a thrill and joy when I would successfully direct my way through a service. Although, no one watching the service is probably thinking about the video director behind the scenes, I felt good in making sure that it was entertaining and interesting for everyone that watched. I appreciate the game makers for creating a similar experience so that others can know the joy of running the show. Pressure is hard, but the payoff is totally worth it. :D

As someone who studied television in college, I got the chance to direct live shows like this. It can be stressful, but it is equally as fun. It's pretty much just like this in real life... Except, you get the chance to rehearse. Lol loved this game. Edit: This does not all get done by one person, btw. You have a whole crew taking care of this stuff. The director calls for the person at the mixer board to go to different cameras, and will call for which specific camera to switch to. Another person is in charge of switching what audio is live, who runs the rushes and adverts, etc etc.

Jexton3045 that was the best way they could keep it immersive and let people be either themselves or whoever they wanted in the game it's cool they put in that kind of detail and effort 😊🙏
I read somewhere the banner falling at the very end of Hey Friendship was actually a cue for the film crew that the director was happy with the take. You can see the cast's mood change when it drops. it's also very in keeping with such a cheap and amateurish production you'd expect from a school play like that.

Technically there IS a part 2, but yeah I’d love to see him come back to it kinda like he did with happy wheels or the Stanley parable and play through all the endings and the dlc they made as well. Cuz let’s be real the dlc for this game now are basically like whole new games in themselves :0
I'm rewatching this and I just realized that Alex, Sam, and Chris are all pretty gender-neutral names, so anyone playing can insert themselves and what their life would be like into this game easily. Pretty neat
Memes Aren't Funny Yeah, but it's voice-acted, they're not gonna go through making each voice actor say thousands upon thousands of names and then assigning those voice files to each differently spelled variant of that name.
John doe That's fair, but bethesda is a fairly large company, whereas the people who made this game seem like a smaller group. It'd be cool if they put that much extra time and effort in to do it, but at the same time, it's their choice, and the game is well made either way.

Geoff: Yes i am the maths teacher
Steve: *MATHS IS REALLY IMPORTANT*
Thats true
I can confirm that this is a simplified version of how live broadcasts work, I've only been on a vision mixer IRL maybe twice, and it was legitimately the most stressful job in the studio, especially when there's multiple screens to switch between and the buttons aren't clearly labelled
Hello fellow television person. I know this is an old comment but while replying to one of my own I came across yours while scoping around to see if there were any other MCO/Director/TMP's in the chat. Hope you're surviving! Keep your chin up :)
@@EspressosWork Hey! I completely forgot that I left this comment back when I was studying Film & TV Production, but I'm now an Assistant Producer for video games! I hope you're doing well:)
@@kandi756 that’s wonderful! I had gone through and gotten my bachelors degree in 2012 for game art before moving into master control and Television direction since the gaming industry was just not in a good place when I graduated, so I’ve been here ten years now. I’m glad you’re doing something that seems like it’s rewarding to you!
@@EspressosWork I got my bachelors in Film and TV last year and ended up going into games, as I was finding it hard to find my place in the UK film/tv scene and had a lot of friends working in games. 11:45 aayyy, that’s Jack recording subnautica
Crystal I JUST SAW THAT TOO
Oh my god it is!
I can't tell if it old or new. I need me some more Subnautica!!
I just went to the comments to see if anyone noticed!
Man, I love little easter eggs like these!
Jack: "I would watch this!"
Also jack when he gets a chance to watch it: "I don't want to watch this."
11:45 one of Jacks Subnautica recordings plays on the 3rd screen, good job robin
I don't think thats robin's work from what i heard about this game it causes paranoia, in this case it used the videos from jack's computer
“..Menacing a swan”
I laughed way too hard at that.
00:51:41
HELLO, INTERNET!
-plz get the shitty reference-
Have you ever gone up against a swan? They are actually really dangerous when protecting eggs and a real threat. I saw one once menace a buff as hell father who was ust trying to protect his daughter from it; he ended up picking up his kid and sprinting away last I saw. They were too close to the nest...
--11:43
Ok robin, we see camera 3, we get it. You are very good at your job.
Now quit showing off and making the rest of us feel bad about our own inadequacies.
xD
I clicked on this video thinking it was gonna be Seán reacting to actual news bloopers that happened in real life. That’s not what I got and I’m not disappointed in the slightest.
I felt like I was a supervisor, I was out here yelling “CUT TO CAMERA FOUR, GET THAT REACTION” and “SWITCH TO CAMERA TWO TO CAPTURE THEM BOTH” 😂😂
lol

omg me too I was shoutin' to him it was amazing 🤣
Yeah, IMO he did a great job on everything except he needed to cut to cam 2 a bit more.
Did anyone else realize "he" and "she" were never used and gender-neutral names like "Chris" "Alex" and "Sam" were used so that the player would not always be a specific gender?
And the player's entire family has gender-neutral pronouns and names too! That's so cool!
CawAreYouDoin? Well not his/her children
Jexton3045 that was the best way they could keep it immersive and let people be either themselves or whoever they wanted in the game it's cool they put in that kind of detail and effort 😊🙏
@@Saber23 Yeah, didn't get to that at the time of writing this comment.

I read somewhere the banner falling at the very end of Hey Friendship was actually a cue for the film crew that the director was happy with the take. You can see the cast's mood change when it drops.
it's also very in keeping with such a cheap and amateurish production you'd expect from a school play like that.

"Yeah all the boys are here, Big Chris-" * guy slides into screen with deep voice * "Oi Oi!"
"Lil Chris-" * guy slides into other side of the screen with high voice * "Oi Oi!"
"And Vampire Chris." * guy with cape pops up from behind chair hissing *

Honestly how nice of the guy to give you a call explaining to you how everything works instead of leaving you to get in trouble tbh
*FOR THE LOVE OF GOD WHY DID JACK STOP PLAYING THIS GAME???*
Pretty neat
yeah but it would be alot easier to insert yourself into the game if they just let you type your name and they just use that... lmao
Huh, Neat.
Chris’s interaction also used gender neutral adjectives like “them” and “Sam’s sibling” it doesn’t specify whether brother or sister
