Wow, thanks for playing Daemonologie! You had absolutely worked it out by the end and I really appreciate that you spent to time to read the post as well. I thought you did a great job with the Scottish accent, also that's exactly the voice I had in my head for Maiden Lilias, nailed it, 10/10 XD

Really cool concept. Well done on the game my guy!
Love the game!
what a masterpiece
That game is so fcking cool, huge fan!!!!
33:36 “I’m beginning to think i’m a very bad witch-finder. I think i’m just here to torture people.” That makes you a very typical witch-finder actually.
i wasnt fully watching this (just in and out of the video) but as soon as he said that i immediately understood the purpose of the game lol, and then jack shortly after is utterly confused by the amount of info plus dreams that are involved and i thought "yep jacks showing the beginning hysteria that a "witch killer" would"
It’s kinda funny I was watching this the day before learning about the Salem Witch trials in class.
Publisher of Daemonologie here. Thanks for playing 🙏 I see that Chris already commented too. We're extremely proud we can support this creative powerhouse of a human being. We're working on a new game with Chris again so if you wish, Jack, we can hook you up as one of the first!
You guys should make a stop motion horror movie as well!
Yes.
Let’s fvking gooooo
Awesome game! The style and stop motion made everything so intriguing. It wouldn't have been this good if you used assets so to speak.
It would have been even cooler if there were different endings though depending on who you choose to hang (if anyone) and if you chose to torture someone or not.
Food for thought for a potential update.
Amazing game, can't wait to see whats next. Watching the game was so interesting and provided the feeling of contemplation and intrigue that makes me really enjoy games, especially indie horror. Really loved the body horror used through the mini games and the soundtrack; along with the dream state stop motion it made everything so uncomfortable. The message and overarching theme of the game was great too. Thanks for producing this art XD
Thank you so much for playing my game, Pretend It's Not There! I've watched you since I was little, so I really can't believe this is happening. I'm glad you enjoyed it!
that's amazing!! congrats!!
Game is awesome! Congrats mate
Your game was awesome!
This game is creepy AF, which means it’s awesome! Thanks for making it❤❤
You did such a great job!! The game was terrifying
27:02 “Oh, it’s like stardew!” as the guy screams in pain made me laugh so hard. I know what he meant, but it’s so funny to think that the tongue torture is “like stardew.”
Like Stardew- but if it was for sure a nightmare and not merely a weird dream where beds don’t abide by the laws of physics and void creatures live in your sewers 🤣
anyone remember alice greenfringers the game?
The scary part for me about Demonologie is that even if you figure out that none of these people were a malevolent witch to be hanged, and that this whole game was a monument to the human folly that was the witch trials, you STILL have to send one of these six poor souls to the gallows. What a mindjob.
The priest seems to be the least bad option, since he actually killed a person.
@@x7lillies And forced an abortion just because he was jealous. He's horrible
Sean immediately accusing the first woman he speaks to of being a witch and saying that it can't be the priest right after meeting him really shows he'd have made a fantastic witch hunter lmao
A lot of women, whether in 1674 or today are witches, but they don't use magic to hurt people...
🤦🏻♂️
i love seans greying natural hair, he started youtube as merry and pippin and now he's evolving into aragorn and gandalf, im not disappointed.
gandalf sean on top!
gandalf sean was the jack we all needed.
maybe the real jacksepticeyes were the gandalf seans we made along the way 🫡🤘🏻
Honestly he is totally rocking it imo
@@BigBorzoi oh hell yeah, sean can literally pull off anything, i'm convinced he can even make a trash bag look bad ass
What happened to your hair!? You look like Geralt of Riveria!
The stop motion in Demonologie was so unsettling and so well done. A whole game in that style would be such hard work but amazing.
6:17 Hearing Sean reference Still Wakes The Deep months later is so cool to hear, that was a great game
I quite literally just rewatched it yesterday so hearing him reference it in this post today totally caught me off guard 😭
I played that game before it became “cool” and I’m so glad it got the attention it deserved
AGREED, IT WAS SOO GOOOOOOOOOOD
@@pheanix3724game was always cool, people only found out it was 😊
Markiplier recently did part 3 of Miside and a certain part of that video/game reminded me of the outside of the rig stuff from Still Wakes the Deep. You might know it if you see it.
First game was phenomenal. I absolutely adore that the developer went into the real history and facts of witch trials, and explained about the individual characters and what's influenced them. It makes my heart ache for all of those victims lost to zealotry and hearsay. . . I'd say the priest is most qualified as a "witch" out of them all.
yeah I agree, he's the only one of sound mind who is calling for the death of others because he thinks he's more 'righteous.'
Everyone else is either afflicted in someway, be it by alzheimers, grief or disease or they avoid pointing blame unless forced by the player. Whereas the priest constantly casts suspicion on others as projection for his own sins and openly calls for the death of the lady in the stones.
plus he's the most hypocritical priest I've ever seen. "Judge not, that ye be not judged. For with what judgment ye judge, ye shall be judged: and with what measure ye mete, it shall be measured to you again."
🤦🏻♂️
@@firempire229🤦🏻♂️
I fear that if laws weren't in place that many priests would love to go back to their "good ol' days"
Priest would have been my guess too
I love the idea of Daemonologie because it's so true. The 'black marks' were probably bruises appearing under the skin from the damage caused by pricking. That's why it happened to three separate people but none were actually witches. Not to mention torture truly doesn't tell you anything. There's no guarantee that the information you're getting is truthful because pain severe enough to make someone talk just ends in whatever they think you want to hear to stop their suffering, even if that causes their death, and even if they're being honest about not being a witch, the torturer gets a sort of confirmation bias that the victim isn't telling the truth and need more pain to be truthful.
It's so bold for us not to get an "answer" at the end of Daemonologie and I love that. Not just a creepy game, but a history lesson too!
11:59 lol the whole rant about not saying this word on UA-cam and having to censor it, and then IMMEDIATELY forgetting to censor it the second time
i was looking for this comment lol
and saying 🐓 immediately after lmao
Idek what the word is suppose to be
“Hoor”
@@sleepyboi.x4828 I'ma have to censor this in case YT shadowbans my comment but the word he's referring to is "wh*re" but replace the asterisk with an o.
7:55 anyone else just... genuinely not see anything? I paused it and went through pausing every like 1/3 second and I just did not see the "someone" that Jack did.
Same
Ok cool I'm not the only one! I thought I was losing it
If you pause frame by frame and turn on ur brightness to the max, u can see a slight difference in the color, looks like shadowy figure. But yeah I missed that the first time.
I played it at .25x speed, kept pausing, and maxed out the brightness but couldn’t see anything
1:01:51 How no one realized that the 3rd game was possibly a reference to home alone is insane. A prison? Theives and criminals. Act of vandalism? Turning on the faucet in the kitchen. Main character you play as? Possibly a kid that’s home alone?
It’s the wet bandits and you play as Kevin McCallister.
Let's not forget you start out being warned about criminals by a bald "cop"
the stop motion cutscenes in the demonologie game was done really well! props to everyone involved in making the stop motion cutscenes!!
LOVED Daemonologie, that was creepy and intriguing. The social dynamics at play, the pointing fingers, the ghastly cutscenes...all very well done and I would love to see more of that.
45:30 i have dyscalculia and this entire rant resonated with me so much
I have it too in case it wasn’t obvious haha
@jacksepticeye ONE OF US! ONE OF US!
@@jacksepticeyeOmg he actually responded
Oh hey guess there's three lmao I have Dyscalculia as well and honestly it makes life pretty hard
SAME! I fully cannot freaking math.
the first game Daemonoligie is really clever for how it puts you into the mindset of someone of the time of the actual witch trials of Scotland, when communities became so paranoid about witches that they would turn on each other over small or imagined slights, with torture adding fuel to the blame game.
“This game contains scenes of torture and religious zealotry…..
Also the lights get a bit flashy.” 😂
markiplier hasnt made one of these in a while, so sean took matters into his own hands
I watched Biggaming64 play the first game.
"Fine, I'll do it myself"
Mark doesn't have to.
@@Zac_h72 nobody said so, they just said he hasn’t in a while 🤷🏻♂️
I mean Marks been making a whole damn movie and saving california singlehandedly, ill cut him some slack
The snakes referred to in the story of St.Patrick were the celts. Celticism was dominant in Ireland until this event. They say labyrinths fairy spirals and even Stonehenge were created by them.
Not me thinking he meant actual snakes :(
History is always worse than I think
@thewrenley Christians and Catholics were famously not nice to the Irish Celts who were apparently very peaceful.
@@solaireofastora417unfortunately, im not even surprised.
Oh, and pond turtles were introduced intentionally by humans. No idea if they were Catholic or Protestant turtles, though....
@neckrohs same
28:06 this obviously happens in every playthrough, but I think we can definitely confirm, the "dark mark" definitely comes from literally piercing them multiple times.... Thus, there is no magical mark, just the literal bruising that happens when you.... Pierce, someone, multiple times like that.
Man, I hate humans sometimes. I cannot express how upsetting that is, torturing someone until you inevitably see the confirmation you are forcing out of them. Just... Gross.
I really appreciate that the developer of the first game actually came out and said the truth of the game and explained things. I hate when a developer leaves things obtuse and never fully explains anything.
As a scot watching jack be completely perplexed by the scottishisms is hilarious
I don't understand why he's so confused. I didn't recognize every word they said, but I could easily understand what they were saying, and i'm an American.
@@sebastianwilliams6651I’m guessing it might have something to do with being exposed to all the different dialects around the Uk, Ireland and Scotland. They all have so many different words for the same things xD
@@sebastianwilliams6651thats exactly it though, your not from uk... uk, scotland, Wales and ireland have very complex and unique accents etc in literally every town and country
I'm half scottish but i've lived in England pretty much my whole life so i'm not well versed with scottishisms but I could understand mostly everything, I can understand why Jack and others have trouble though, if you read the word wrong or literally it makes no sense half the time but if you know how the word sounds it makes it so much easier.
I am central european, english learned as second language, and I have to a focus just a little but I understand the scottish easily or at least understand the sentence written or said by Jack :-) I adore scottish accent and just everything about it
daemonologie is FASCINATING. sean sharing the dev's steam post afterward about how the witch trials really were and how each character tied in was a great addition. im glad he chose to include that
The first game is amazing. I love the details, the way it just ends anticlimactically no matter what you choose, and the fact that I think choosing the priest is the best ending. You kill a killer then at the very least.
the lore for demonologie is actually facinating i love it so much? a game that ACCURATELY represents what could have really been happening during the witch trials? amazing.
edit: making fun of the way i type was not the point of this comment yall
Fascinating, while also being horrifying
Yeah the Breaking-Wheel, shame-mask and pear of anguish on the carriage in the intro were a realistic, but horrifying touch.
I like that concept
Why are you asking us if YOU love something so much?
That was an amazing game. Hearing the full breakdown after he got the ending and learning how much was just trick of the human mind made the game go from a 6 to a 10 imo
kid: "i have to pretend its not there by not looking at it!!"

Can I ask if he was right on the 4 and 10 years or whatever meaning 14 years or if it was something else. Ju st out of curiosity
@ferocelion5661 Yeah, that's not something we typically say anymore but if you speak to an older person they're most likely to say something like "two and thirthy years" meaning 32 or "five and 10 minutes" meaning 15

The Hunchback of Notre Dame reference you made had my husband actually hopping out of bed and going to find our DVD version of The Hunchback (even though we have D+) because he got so excited that Jack knew his favorite villain in the world of Disney. LMAO
I have dyscalculia and you did the first math so quickly! I saw numbers and all I had in my brain was the microwave sound.

@tadadoterson6147 I saw he had a difficult time, but didn't know he has it too, thanks!
Sean please play "Miside" whenever you feel like it, It's such a well made game for what it is.. and It's NOT a dating sim lol.. I think you'll like it.
Technically it starts like a dating sim, until it’s not 😂
I would love seeing him shitting himself by the jump scares bcuz i did shit myself 😂😂
What if it was though
I hope Markiplier finishes that game, and I also hope he plays Poppy Playtime Chapter 4.
Omg peakside
Life been rough watching your videos for the past 6 years been really helping me get through everything love you jack
that first game was exactly what I wanted it to be. The whole time I was thinking 'the people killed in the salem trials were just people' and that's exactly the direction the game went. And the priest being actually a creep and evil? The witchfinder just being a murderer and torturer? Loved it.
All or the animation budget was for the cutscenes, but they were so smooth and impactful in Deamonologie.
The name looks like demonology (another horror game) but said with the thickest scottish accent
@@blitz7488i would assume it's named after the book
47:06 What's wild is how Sean was actually onto something. One of the best ways to convince the monster that you can't see it would be to try to walk through it.

Daemonologie was so good I just had to leave a comment. The design and the lore are top notch, and Jack's voice acting is the cherry on top! Really cool game.
It’s been more than a year since he’s done this series and I’m so glad it’s back.
*Everyone say thanks Sean!*
32:56 yes that happens to people sometimes, especially when you stab them- it's called an internal hemorrhage lmao.
His Irish/cockney accent is so bizarre. I love it. His Scottish is just Billy Connolly, which I also love.
"I'm just gonna kill everyone in this village for being Scottish." I have had such a bad few days and have not been able to properly laugh about anything but that got me lol. Jack always cheers me up.
Got a movie ready, got my popcorn ready, saw Sean uploaded a 1 hour 3 scary games video, closed the movie tab, clicked on the video.

Same lol, I was about to watch Parasite for the first time
Sameee but I ended up watching The First Omen first, then this video 😂
8:59 “A WEE PACKET OF CRISPS” 😭😭😭😭
I love how universal it was to hear a teacher say your not always gonna have a calculator in your pocket. Lol
10:22 Me too! I thought they were LITERAL SNAKES!
but honestly, not upset that I learned the truth through Jack lmao. It does put some stuff into clearer context.
Same. This is how I found out it didn't literally mean literal snakes.
TIL! Why has no one ever explained this to me before?? It seems like some pretty significant context to leave out. 🐍
The first game reminds me of the play "The Crucible" by Arthur Miller. It's also about witch trials being used as an excuse for people to get rid of those they don't like. Arthur himself was accused of being a communist during the Red Scare, which inspired him to write the play.
Jack should play Plague Tale: Innocence; I think he would really like that game. A tale between two siblings combating the black death and hordes of rats, while experiencing a linear storytelling with a stealth/action like gameplay set in the 14th century france era
7:30 - "I wouldn't even ken how"
Old English is very similar to Germanic languages like German and Dutch. It's actually why we still say "man and wife" during wedding ceremonies instead of "husband and wife".
In Dutch "ken" literally translates to "know", so she is saying "I wouldn't even know how".
(Not saying old English is like Dutch, just the family it's from, we used to use a lot of the same sounds as well, such as the Dutch 'g' sound.)
And at 17:00 she says “who does keek at me” where ‘keek’ is similar to the Dutch ‘kijk’ or ‘kijken’ meaning ‘to look’.
I’m Dutch btw. And I was about to comment about how I thought some of the Old English here really seemed so similar to Dutch, but then I already saw your comment lol
I don't know why, but I was under the impression that it was a bastardization of "know" said phonetically... good to know I'm wrong because that would make no sense lol.
I know "ken" from one of my favorite poems from high school ’Twa Corbies", also in Scots. Eventually and tangentially it got me into historical costuming 😅
“ ‘Where sall we gang (crowd, gather: verb) and dine to-day?’
‘In behint yon auld fail dyke,
I wot there lies a new slain knight;
And naebody *kens* (knows: verb) that he lies there,
But his hawk, his hound, and lady fair. "
Latin based languages
12:58 “why can’t I go to the well” *points to the gallows* 😂
One of my favorite kinds of horror games is horror games with some sort of intended moral or lesson behind them, not just being scary for the sake of being scary. Daemonologie was really cool and a good reminder of the power of blame and accusations, especially in that context.
0:16 my what?
did he stutter?
Your eyes?
You heard him....
Same thing I said! 😂
Your ass, his property
13:38 I could've sworn I heard JackSepticEye doing the Goro Majima's laugh for a bit there.
Watching Gab’s breeze through the math portion and watching Jack struggle was very funny
It's interesting to see some similarities between Danish and the Scots English. Like "kirk" is "kirke" in Danish....both meaning church. And when the maiden said "I wouldn't even ken how"... in Danish, "kende" (the d is silent) means "to know."
Edit: Phossy jaw was very much a real thing. Workers in the match industry often got phossy jaw because matches, back then, were often made with phosphorous. Bailey Sarian did a great Dark History podcast about match factories a few months ago (on UA-cam).
The jumpscsre by the generator in the last game startled me so bad i almost dropped my phone lmao. Very good surprise there, tbh

l love the use of all the different techniques for torture in the first game. It's extremely accurate to exactly how witch hunters did things. And the immediate accusation given to the lady for being a little different is definitely how it went during that time too. Never expect things to be how they appear, though.
"I don't wanna torture anybody...... immediately" lol

Seeing a vid pop up from you, I can't even describe the elation I felt. It's helped me immensely with my anxiety today. My country is crumbling around me, I've barely ate, can't stop wanting to cry. Afraid for my kid's and I's futures. I needed this mental break. Thank you so much.

Same. Figured there'd be a comment for this. Figured he'd be seeing things by the end of the video, not the first 10 minutes. 😅
I saw it when I screenshotted it and turned up the brightness. Idk how tf he saw that. It's like a silhouette
I took screenshots before and around the time the screen goes black around 7:55 and I do see there is a light ghostly outline that appears next to the girl- at least an outline/light silloheute to the left of the girl that did not exist before. It's hard to see, but zooming in on my screenshots I can vaguely see the outline of a guy. But that could also be an artifact from the screen/background transitioning to black, though it would be odd that a lighter color would appear there. Actually, if I focus hard I think I see the light silloheute of a person everytime the screen transitions back to and away from the picture of the woman sitting on rocks, I.e 7:50 so this could just be an artifact.
My godddd how much i have missed this series , thank you jack for bringing it back

you're so very brave for sharing that, I hope things get better for you soon because I'm sure they will! I'm rooting for you and I hope all the good things coming your way make their way sooner!
Very awesome! As someone who grew up near Salem, it's quite intense to see it all acted out. The second game reminds me of living with a certain family member you're afraid to get on the bad side of. The third was pretty cool, with the fear of a stranger in your comfort zone!
Oh my god, you’re so right about the 2nd game! It really does feel like living in a toxic/abusive environment with that one person you try not to interact with, lest their attention turns on you.
I'm not sure which is more accurate in the 1st game, the usage of the witch hunts from history, or not being able to understand a single sentence spoken lol

And, for some reason, the kid was unable to say something like "Mom, before I let you in, you have to do something for me, as if your life depends on it: keep your eyes glued to the floor and DON'T LOOK AT ANYTHING STRANGE IN THE HOUSE!" or, if you want to play it coy, something like him opening the door and grabbing mom and pulling her out the door "Mom, we ran out of milk/orange juice, so we need to go to the store...don't ask questions and don't look at anything but me. Let's get in the car and just drive to the store!"
Because, at least, there would be two things that would possibly happen for the coy option: 1) You would be driving away from the thing in a car, so it's possible you can out run it. 2) If it somehow follows you, even with the car, then someone else might end up seeing it in public and it might pass itself on to someone else instead. Option 2 sucks for the other people, but it would at least give an opportunity to save yourself and your mother.
