When I visited Hiroshima, it happened to be the anniversary of the atomic bomb by chance. It seemed like the whole city walked to the river. We all made paper boats, and I wrote a personal message of love and peace on mine, then cast it into the river. I was with a great friend who is no longer in my life, so the memory is heartfelt. It was a lovely, synchronistic event that I’ll always cherish.

But still it was very moving to spend time at the museum and understand the devastation and effects of war where no one truly wins in a war. Thank you for bringing a bit of Hiroshima to Oahu. Mahalo!
