It's fun to look at these old videos. You have come so far since then. Not going to lie...needed some Dramamine for the beginning and end of this one. Much better now!
From experience, how to get to 340-350whp on an STI: 1. Cobb AP 2. Cobb intake with box 3. Cobb catted dp 4. Cat-back exhaust 5. EBCS 6. 1050 fuel injectors 7. Fuel pump 8. Flex Fuel kit 9. Tune (tuner should up the boost to ~25psi) DONE. Extra: AOS
In Australia the AP’s arnt that big of a thing (they are starting to get bigger for the monitoring aspect) most people here just go straight for a pro tune as there cheaper and more reliable than a OTS tune, and you can set 3 to change between like a valet mode in eco then daily then your big power tune in sport sharp
Another important thing to handle the extra power is good quality fluids too! It’s fun to go fast but it’s also good to stop too, don’t neglect brake and suspension mods
Brake and suspension are always high on my list, but this video was geared just towards the power aspect of the car. But I definitely agree, no point in having the power of you can't properly use it!
Great video, I have a regular 2004 2.0 Blobeye WRX (Not STI) that is making 260 BHP at the wheels and it's very reliable To see only 340 BHP for a 2.5 STI being mentioned as good power, makes me feel good about the numbers from my humble peasant model.
So far I just have a access port Cobb sf intake. And a r400 catback like u mentioned. And I think it’s a great starter. Got my 2021 sti like 8months ago. And I wanna start making more power soon after I get some more cosmetic stuff. This video seemed to give me a good idea of what I would want or need.
Not here to be the Sti Police , but the RA come out in '18. And the '19+ Got the RA Engine. Generally the '15s seem to have the worst Engines a compression test and leakdown Is highly suggested
Thank you for the support and kind words! Going to be a fun adventure, and dyno days are my favorite! Always a blast to get the car set up to start ripping around 😍
I only heard a few sound issues with this episode. I imagine you use headphones when you edit and heard it all crystal clear. In all honesty the viewers are going to be listening to this on probably their laptop speakers or maybe some music based headphones which are not the best for listening to the human voice or critical listening for sound issues. (28 years of video production and sound mixing experience here...) It wasn't that bad. Had you not said anything most would have not known anything was wrong. I did notice you added a very low music bed. Smart man! That can fix a lot of sound issues. LOL! I've often told clients who ask me if that loud sound that happened during a take can be covered with a music bed, "Yeah, some AC/DC should cover that up!' Then we reshoot the scene... Look forward to the build! I love that you tried to find everything on Amazon! Great idea. I just found a set of Goodridge braided brake lines for my 2020 WRX with CVT on Amazon. Yeah, they're different then standard trans brake lines. The park brake is way different on the CVT and that changes the rear brake calipers and lines. Anyhow, fun video man!
Yes, I normally use headphones when editing and the echo was so bad before fixing the audio. Well I felt it was bad but I'm also very judgemental of the edits and quality. Lol love the idea of the AC/DC response 😅 Wanted to try and challenge the search a little bit more, I order a handful of parts on Amazon when I can for the free shipping 😅

I absolutely love all of your videos, best Subaru channel out there. All this info comes so in handy for my 2020 sti build (first subie btw) I always refer back to this video when I’m looking at my mod list or whenever I buy a new part
I was actually thinking about getting the awe touring exhaust. It sounds really good. I did like the sound of the Q300 and R400 until I heard awe touring. I've watched other UA-camrs tune their sti at 400whp and they said it was reliable if you don't gas the hell out of the car every where you go. I want at least 385whp. Keep up the content.
Realalistocally like you said as long as your not at WOT all of the time the car will be able to handle the power just fine. But ill look into the AWE exhaust I've never heard of it before 🤔
Congrats on your last day. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming vids. I'm stacking up parts for my 19 STI. Your vids has been very helpful and enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work.
@@Smeedia yeah I definitely agree, I think the fa20 wrxis easier to get power out of, low levels ofc... i beleive stage 2 is almost 300, slap flex on it and it will be around 350 to 380... but im building mine for close to 500whp and its not cheap... only thing i beleive I still have stock is the trans and ling block... which eventually I will build😅, hoping i can drive around with 450whp for a bit babysitting it... also my car is meant for top end power, I've built it like that hoping rods will hold better...
I do have to say in my experience with buying quite a ton of the same parts, the few things I've gotten from Amazon in the past few months have all had issues. Open box, wrong part, etc. If you're serious in the parts and making sure you get the best support, it's best to buy from the manufacturer direct if you can. Not only that, but most of the time it's similar in price, but the piece of mind knowing it's going to be exactly what you order now is very much worth it.
Always good to do ypur research! And interesting the recent Amazon ones I've done have all been solid. Most are shipped and sold through thr manufacturers as well
@@Smeedia I've just been burned too many times from Amazon in the past few months to feel comfortable ordering from their system. Even though they say they come from a manufacturer, it seems that the Amazon orders are in a lower 'tier' than others, coming from the same warehouse. I've had 2 orders from the same manufacturer come from the same warehouse even! (Returned the Amazon one being open box and missing the sensor on the AEM Gauge, other direct from manufacturer). This wasn't the first instance of it though. It seems as though a lot of the Subaru parts suppliers in the past couple years merged into the same warehouse group. The invoices all seem to come from the same place, and shipped from the same locations (KY, UT, etc).
Around may is going to be my tune as well, protune, sf intake, grimmspeed dp limited ceramic coated, iag aos street. Next upgrade will be fmic, bigger injectors, electric cutout 3", turbo inlet, ebcs, up pipe, ewg and bov.
Good parts list. You’ve done your research. Making 355whp and 455wtq currently. Thinking about swapping out the turbo and putting on a fmic. I’ll have some spare 1050 injectors like you mentioned haha. Your going to need a new clutch.
Radium is where it at for sure man. I got their fuel hanger because I need it for my larger fuel pump, and you can get one for a dual pump setup if you want as well. No tune set yet, still waiting on Turn in Concept to finish my block because I decided to send them my heads as well and do a full stage 2 on them with cams as well. Should be a fun build man. Definitely should change that turbo out as soon as you can! I decided to go with the GTX3076R.
@@Smeedia for sure man! I'll let you know what she turns out once I get there. They said 2 weeks on the long block and then gotta break it in. Glad you're going EWG though man! I rode in my buddies with the smaller Grimmspeed and I became obsessed with the sounds haha. I'll be here following your build, so I'll let you know😉. Keep on keeping on with the great content!
I recently did about have of these parts (not same brands he used), including all the must haves like downpipe and fuel mods. Ended up with 319whp and 344 torque on a mustang dyno. This was an accurate list and I'm glad to have gotten close to this number
I bought an 06 STi from a shady dealer in Washington now out of business... it blew up the same day. I didn’t have a garage at the time but I found a great shop. I was angry about everything and threw 5 figures at it over the next few months. New Forged 8.7:1 engine with bearings and head studs, Gates timing belt, killer b oil setup, tvg deletes, SRI, full exhaust (minus manifold) oil catch can, walboro 450 e85 pump, injectior dynamics 1050 set, bigger better turbo inlet & intercooler plumbing, new Blouch dominator 1.5x 8cm ceramic ball bearing turbo, new shift linkage, tein coilovers (replacing with feal struts & mild springs) group n hats, kart endlinks, whiteline center raising ball joint/rod end kit, custom tune. Stock intercooler and bpv and maxing our maf voltage still made 345hp and 325 ft/lbs. all that’s left (for power) is upgrading those and doing e85 tune or meth injection. I’m at about $15,000 right now with labor for engine build/install included. It’s the fastest car I’ve personally ever been in. It’s my fucked up baby, my repossessed rescue soobie.
Love it! Sorry to hear about the unfortunate experience though. Unfortunately I can relate. But glad that it's sorted out and your enjoying the car now 🙏🔥
Smeedia Right now I’m thinking I’m gonna go built bottom end with forged pistons, rods, bearings and arp head studs! She’s gonna be down for a about a month but I’m excited to save it back better than ever!
This video helped me so much thank you I never was the type to rush builds with my cars I wanna make sure I do everything step by step and have everything right and I’m kinda new to the boxer engines and Subarus in general I plan on building my car over the winter looking to get 450hp out of it don’t wanna put the block in to much danger will probably end up getting one built to be safe and add more power
Looking forward to see the installation of all of these parts, I am in the same power range now so your installation videos are coming at the right time for me :D. I have a built motor though hahahahaha with everything else still stock, good luck man....
Lol im.pushing the engine to its limits, wish I had a built block but that will come in time 😁 appreciate the support my man and keep the updates with your build curious how it's going to do!
@@Smeedia Ya sure man, the problem things take more time than usual because I am in a region where it is impossible to find any parts, and it takes ages to deliver them from the states. But so far I am managing. I live in the middle east by the way specifically in Qatar. Ebay is my source of parts hahahahaha. I am pushing 300 whp at the moment with a catless DP, GS intercooler & Cobb EBCS with everything else stock. Not to mention the block off course with Mahle pistons (4032), Manely rods, king bearings and ARP Head studs. The case is the stock semi open deck.
@@Smeedia Ya exactly, I got the cobb accessport on my car then I discovered that nobody in the country tunes the accessport for subarus hahahaah, so I am close to a year now e-tuned with Evans Tuning. The car is been running fine his tune is descent. It was a long story though to be able to run an accessport on my car, everyone here is running ECUTECH.

man want an sti , on e85, but the parts required for this are insane, mk7 gti only need hpfp ,catless dp and high flow filter and boom 350whp on custom cobb tune :)
I suck at predicting things. But OOOO I have a pretty good feeling you will easily surpass 100k subs by Jan 2021 if you continue the amazing quality and consistency. Love the content.
Doing this full time starting Saturday so uploads will be every other day and have a lot of things planned 🔥 but would be awesome if we got there! Appreciate the support my man! 😍
I've got a 20/20 STI I was looking at putting a cob intake and Cat-Back on it. In various other ground effects and suspension components and of course a cob tuner. Is this logic make sense as far as a daily driver is concerned. Also plan on putting in the radiator and oil air separator and getting Cobb's kit for the number for cylinder problem with cooling. This is a touring car mostly interstates some twisty roads. What do you think everybody else trying to please
Nice "Turd" you have there 🤣. 350 WHP assuming 10 percent losses translates to 389 BHP 👏. That's a major bump, definitely more smiles/mile! Good luck on your new path.
Nice video, great content as always. Hopefully everything went well with the BRZ, I assume its already fixed. Did the hose come apart? Or slip off the radiator?
That's a solid list. Got all those mods except the external waste gate. Planning on going E85 in a 2016 wrx. Do you reccomend that for these cars too? Thx
Shit! You'll make around 300 to the wheels with not much on fa on e85. You go stage 2 and run e85 on a e50 blend ive heard your making 375 to 400 on a fa. Now you do need the flexfuel harness and the proper fuel pump. Now the the problem is transmission clutch and rods if you cant drive or dont maintain. Still pay to play.
@@Smeedia ok I gotcha. I'm just wondering because when I had my evo 8, I had used external wga on my stock turbo as well but I had the turbo rebuilt and increased the hotside to the 10.5.
I got a wrx sti 2021 with intake tomei cat less downpipe intake and a blow of valve & boost controller . I am making 345hp but I my tuner program my just to hit 12mph since he said it can blow .he recommended the EWG to hit more then 120+
Do you think 350whp is possible on stock header and downpipe (2021 STi)? If not what is a realistic goal on FBO minus header and downpipe (i.e. intake, fmic, bypass valve, internally gated, flex fuel, and fuel mods (maybe if I add FP Blue too)?
Yes, it's absolutely possible. The stock dp will be much more of a restriction than the stock header. With the right turbo set up it should be pretty easy to hit that power goal.
Great list! Most of the things I've done. Although, i do have a divorced catless downpipe, i am using tomei's internal wastegate. and hopefully i can get by without replacing the FPR, but they're not bad if need be. Got my limp map today (no boost and maxes at 4500rpm lol, it'll be an interesting drive to the tuner) I am having some trouble with the oil pressure/ temp sensor for my new gauges though, they're too close to the headers. Not sure if it's because i did the cooler or pickup, but hopefully I can find a work around. Wish me luck! Either way that'll be later, gonna get the AFR in today and get it tuned hopefully Tuesday. 😬👍👍
@@Smeedia for sure. 👍👍 😬😬😬😬 Got one of the best tuners on the east coast working on it, Hill from Agile in MD. At least he comes highly recommended all over the forums. 👍
I've got an STI with Invidia J pipe and catback 3" with SF Cobb Intake and just upgraded to 1050x and AEM fuel pump. My biggest issue I'm having is my LT Fuel Trims are high in AF Learn C when im cruising. Smoke tested, no leaks....do yout hink this could be because of fuel pressure regulation? It boosts fine, but it does stumble a bit between 2500-3500 RPM, especially in lower gears.
While a lot of the things you've listed are needed, some are not. I just did my build last year and it netted around 350 on a Mustang dyno. EWG, uppipe, intercooler, radiator, BPV, header, turbo inlet tube are all items that are not needed for this goal. Replace those with the COBB 20g turbo and you'll be better off. I didn't want the lag a even bigger turbo would bring and the extra cost, which would then need the EWG, uppipe and a extra 3k. The only thing I will prob add to my setup would be the TMIC and maybe the radiator, just because I like to buy shit I don't need, but without them I still made that power. The better spent money instead of the parts I said were not needed, is the turbo. The Stock one falls off pretty hard up top, there's a pretty big difference.
Totally agree, ive seen people push it that high on ethanol but the VF48 sees so much stress when pushed that hard and like you said just falls on kts face in the higher power band.
@@Smeedia The next step in power that was recommended on the stock block, was E85. I don't drive enough to carry that stuff in my tank that long, so I choose not to, but they did want me going bigger on the turbo which would have gone the EWG setup. I just didn't see the performance per dollar value. I did have them go colder on the plugs and delete the TVG and EGR shit. The most important in my mind was the AOS.
Won’t running catless set you in the problems of not passing a smog check? Live in ky now and they don’t have them here but moving to Nevada in a month.
I've got a few other income streams that I'm able to use to make this happen but did not quit just for UA-cam, UA-cam will play a bigger role in things later but have some other things ill be praying as well. Appreciate the support and excited to see where it goes!
Honestly, fuel pump, injectors, catless up and catted dp , bigger 18G turbo would be enough. Stock headers, stock IC can be kept. pump is around $180, UP/DP you can just decat it yourself or buy new ones for like $350, 1050x around $600, $1200 for the 18G and a pro tune would be enough to easily hit 350whp
@@Smeedia even on a good pro tune ? I guess ill find out Tuesday. I went boost control and 1050 injectors to try and prevent that with bolt ons. Hopefully I dont have any problems
Well my car made 346 WHP on stock internals with only few modifications, and the surprise is the long block was ej205 not ej207. Modifications includes Greddy front mount intercooler, Garrett Turbo Power and response Powered by HKS, 750cc Injectors, DW 300 fuel pump, and a Link Monsoon ECU. The car lived long and I drove it aggressively. Honestly you don't need all this modifications to hit the 340 WHP. Cheers
Catless downpipe will be more prone to boost creep due to the smaller IWG hole. The EWG will be able to balance out and get rid of the excess exhaust gasses. Catted downpipe with IWG is more so used in states with stricter emmisons but the cat helps create some backpressure to help keep the car from overboosting.
I know this is an older video, but I just wanted to mention the Rev9 high-flow catted downpipe I bought when I was on more of a budget. It has served me very well. Welds on it are good, comes with a bung for your AFR already welded in, gaskets, full 3" - no complaints. My bill came out to $206.70. Between that as part of my 3" turbo-back, my GrimmSpeed intake and a pro-tune, my 2010 WRX hatch is making 313 whp and 315 fpt on a Mustang dyno.
Most tuners use Cobbs tuning software to tune the car so the access port is needed for them to be able to tune the car unless your doing open source tuning
Howdy! Have you done anything to help dial out the understeer? I test drove an '18 STi Limited, and was totally blown away. Except for the understeer. In a past build, I installed an adjustable rear sway bar (among other things, including coilovers). I value handling over brute power (although power is awesome, too!). I'm asking because I'm taking the STi plunge this spring, and will be buying a 2018 or newer, as stock as possible (I want to do my own modding), and likely at Subaru of Puyallup, as wifey wants me to get new or CPO if possible. Thanks for the great videos!
Rear sway bar and a little chassis bracing helps to fix the understeer 🙏 totally understand and subaru of puyallup is the only dealer that I will go to! 🙌🔥
@@Smeedia thanks for the quick response! Subaru of Puyallup is where we bought my wife's Forester, and where we get all servicing done. Love that place!
You should be good without any fuel upgrades, but you will need a tune, the Accessport has OTS maps specific for just the intake and downpipe. (I think it would be stage 1+?) Note: I had just done up pipe, down pipe, cat back exhaust and intake without any fuel changes running stage 2+ OTS map for years with no issue and GREAT results. (2012 wrx)
@@omgtrey thanks, I'm aware of this. Unfortunately for the 2015+ models we can't run an intake & dp without fuel upgrades. There's no stage 2+ OTS map for the latest gen. I bought my stage 1 package before finding this out or else I would've just went for the DP and stage 2 tune.
Got a 19 WRX. Love my car. All I got on it is the Invidia 400. Whats the fastest way to get it to 300+ HP? I know intake won't add too much. I heard TGV/EGR deletes with a tune really helps. The accessport doesn't take into account the deletes. Any recommendation? Don't want to go crazy with getting 10 different things so if it could be done in 3 things, that would be saweeeeeet. Please Help...
I’m so stuck and can’t get the right answer from anybody. I’m looking to do stage two on my 2019 STI. For stage two, which would be the intake, downpipe, exhaust, and tune; I keep hearing that you CANNOT run intake AND downpipe without upgrading the fuel lines or whatever. Is that true?
Smeedia and then one more concern, I guess the previous owner ( who only put 9k ) on the car, put a drop in k&n filter. I keep hearing a tune is needed. I’m going tomorrow to buy a stock oem filter and now I’m scared of any possible damages
Hey, why do you need an uppipe and EWG on stock turbo that already has an IWG? Also, isn't the fuel pump and injectors sufficient till like 450hp+ (on crank)? Mine is the '13 STI and I still have lots of headroom on my fuel system.
You'll have better boost control with an EWG than you would with an IWG 🙏 And no, you'll cap the Injectors pretty quick. ID1000s can get you to 450 on pump gas. For E85 you'll want 1300s
I have gtd 4cylinder cooling mod,Cobb sf intake, map downpipe, cobb bpv, Cobb ebcs, ets exhaust, cusco catch can,1050 injectors, aem fuel pump, and fuel regulator. Will I be ok running the injector, pump, and regulator without upgrading the lines and rails?
Looking at running an Invidia N1 Cattback on my FXT but recently have been looking at COBB quad tip cattback. Not looking for screams just not stock, any recommendations? Preferably dual tip
Would all of these work for a non sti? Do you have another video for non sti wrx? Just wondering and ik ill probably getbsome flak for not going with the sti but could afford it lol thanks.
I owned a '14 WRX and abused the heck out of it, but never had any problems with it(aside from clutch pedal stiffing up a bit that was when I realized about the horrors' of Subies). I now own an STI and baby the heck out of the car(due to horror stories of the knock and it costing me a fortune lol) I definitely don't drive as spirited as I once used to, I guess you can say I think of the consequences now. I would love to be at a 350-360hp(I guess safe HP range) in the future. How far could I get the car to go without worrying on knock issues or blowing out the engine? I know blowing up your motor depends on how hard you drive the car so my real concern is could I get the car up to 360HP and not worry about any engine issues? Also as I said earlier I definitely don't launch at every red light anymore and I am currently working on more of a "Show" kind of build, but would love to get my build up to 340-360HP for a nice fun pull from 2-3rd gear every now and then. I'm kind of traumatized from all the horror stories about the knock and blown engines.
Easily do-able to get the motor to make that type of power on the stock block. I pushed mine up to 401WHP without any issues on the stock block. Just make sure you add the proper longevity and reliability mods and you shouldn't have any issues. 🙌🔥
Hey smeedia. What would cause a misfire under load? 3-4k rpm. Plugs already changed. Cel code p0300. A code p0171 system too lean bank 1 was a code I gotten before the misfire. Any suggestions? Some suggest it’s injectors issue.
Could be a clogged injector, what is the car and whats all done to it? I had similar issues with my STI when I was running an intake + Downpipe on a OTS Map
I have a 02 bugeye wrx but man after repairing some parts on it I’ve decided to get rid of it and I’m currently waiting on a buyer. I’ve been watching your vids for a while and I’m set on getting a 2015+ wrx just to be at ease to throw on parts without worrying anything else because the car is a lot newer
Do you have different suggestions for these parts when not restricted to Amazon? Curious if it makes a difference, and a bunch of the links are dead now.
I'll update those links! And I alqays link to where I can find them cheapest. Normally Amazon has been the best in the past but rallysport direct and the mod garage are two other very good sites 😁

Wanted to try and challenge the search a little bit more, I order a handful of parts on Amazon when I can for the free shipping 😅
@@Smeedia I know, I love my Prime membership! I will happily pay the $115 (or whatever it is now) per year and get access to all the video and music! Best yearly deal around!
I absolutely love all of your videos, best Subaru channel out there. All this info comes so in handy for my 2020 sti build (first subie btw) I always refer back to this video when I’m looking at my mod list or whenever I buy a new part
Glad the vidros are helping my man 🙏🙏🙏 congrats on thr car BTW 🔥😁
Hey I’m gunna use your video to help me during my IAG AOS install this weekend
How was the install??
I was actually thinking about getting the awe touring exhaust. It sounds really good. I did like the sound of the Q300 and R400 until I heard awe touring. I've watched other UA-camrs tune their sti at 400whp and they said it was reliable if you don't gas the hell out of the car every where you go. I want at least 385whp. Keep up the content.
Realalistocally like you said as long as your not at WOT all of the time the car will be able to handle the power just fine. But ill look into the AWE exhaust I've never heard of it before 🤔
@@Smeedia (my wrx channel) has a vid that came out about a week ago. It's the exhaust battle. I think it's the awe touring track edition exhaust.
@@Smeedia I know some time has gone by, but I have the AWE touring exhaust and I love it. Not crazy loud but just enough with a killer tone
Congrats on your last day. Looking forward to seeing your upcoming vids. I'm stacking up parts for my 19 STI. Your vids has been very helpful and enjoyable to watch. Keep up the good work.
Thank you and glad the videos are helping and enjoyable! 😁
I love my 19 sti but damn it’s so expensive just to get 50-100 hp lol
True, not the best car for massive Horsepower but paired with the handling its def a fun one
"hoping" lol@@premiumxperiments6059
The invoices all seem to come from the same place, and shipped from the same locations (KY, UT, etc).
awesome video, i just got my 19 sti tuned by travis and got 310 with the cobb stage 3. cant wait till i go flex fuel with bigger turbo.
The E85 will make a huge difference!
Around may is going to be my tune as well, protune, sf intake, grimmspeed dp limited ceramic coated, iag aos street.
Next upgrade will be fmic, bigger injectors, electric cutout 3", turbo inlet, ebcs, up pipe, ewg and bov.
You'll love it after the tune! 😍
Good parts list.
You’ve done your research.
Making 355whp and 455wtq currently.
Thinking about swapping out the turbo and putting on a fmic. I’ll have some spare 1050 injectors like you mentioned haha.
Your going to need a new clutch.
Thats a huge whp to TQ gap, what's your set up?! 😳
Will be changing the turbo once life settles down again and I have a little more funds but your build sounds like it will make some great power 😍
Lets all support the best subaru channel out here oohhh oohh
Appreciate the support my man! 🔥🙌🔥
OUUUUU!!
But glad that it's sorted out and your enjoying the car now 🙏🔥
Been loving these videos. Super helpful and I really love how you always keep reliability at the forefront of your videos!
Gotta make sure the car will be optimal and reliable before modifying 😁 glad you've been enjoying them! 😁
Man love the videos! My 2011 wrx spun a bearing today and i'm pretty bummed about it but your videos always cheer me up!
Sorry to hear about the car 😫 what are your next steps to get it going again? And glad your enjoying the videos and they are helping 😍
Smeedia Right now I’m thinking I’m gonna go built bottom end with forged pistons, rods, bearings and arp head studs! She’s gonna be down for a about a month but I’m excited to save it back better than ever!
Oouuuu I can’t wait to watch the STi build videos 😩 also I didn’t notice any audio issues listening on my iPhone so don’t sweat it 🙌🏻

Yo this such a good video for someone with a stock sti like me, thanks 🙌🏻
This one cracks me up. Im working tomorrow, let’s start it at 9pm to warm it up for tomorrow morning🤣
Use always been curious, where do you get tuned? I know in some areas it can be a little difficult at times. And working with what you've got!
In Australia the AP’s arnt that big of a thing (they are starting to get bigger for the monitoring aspect) most people here just go straight for a pro tune as there cheaper and more reliable than a OTS tune, and you can set 3 to change between like a valet mode in eco then daily mode then your big power tune in sport sharp
Woooooooo!! Can’t wait for the next vid!!!
Top stuff!!
Saturday! 😁 shooting 3 videos today so many more to come 🔥 appreciate the support!

man want an sti , on e85, but the parts required for this are insane, mk7 gti only need hpfp ,catless dp and high flow filter and boom 350whp on custom cobb tune :)
DI cars are much easier to get E85 to work with 🔥
Another killer video as always!
Thank you! Slot more to come 🔥😁
Why are we not going to the golf R mk7 and getting a downpipe and intake with a cobb and tune for 4~5k for 400hp? Have we chosen the wrong AWD daily?
Idk but now I'm considering one for those gains!!!
"Now you dont need an intake but you want those cool turbo noises" 😂 couldnt be more right😂
😅😅😅😅
Thank you! Excited and terrified to see what happens!
No way. Stock 305, wheels 240ish. 350whp, translates more to 410-420ish.
Nice video, great content as always. Hopefully everything went well with the BRZ, I assume its already fixed. Did the hose come apart? Or slip off the radiator?
I filmed that video yesterday so still waiting on parts lol hopefully the new hoses come in soon but the hose split where it connects to the block
I know I am late but your vids are awesome. I just picked up a 2017 Subaru STI!! Thanks for the great content
Congrats on the new car my man! 🔥😁
little late, but doesn’t the sti come stock with around 300hp? you need all that for an extra 40 hp?
Guess I know where my stimulus check is going to... JK lmao
@smeedia The link for the AEM Fuel Pump is the grimspeed intake.
I'll fix that as soon as I get home! Thank you for the heads up!
Updated 😁
That's a solid list. Got all those mods except the external waste gate. Planning on going E85 in a 2016 wrx. Do you reccomend that for these cars too? Thx
Yes I do! I'm going e 85 as well have all the parts and the tune is set for may. I left out E85 because not everyone has access to it
Greetings From Philippines! Is this also applicable to WRX models?
It is also applicable to WRX 😁
Thanks bro! Been a fan since 2018 since i'm planning to get a wrx or sti. You and engineering explained should do a collab😁
Lol he is wayyyyy above me, would be awesome. Maybe one day 😅 and both the WRX and STi will be a solid choice, whatever one you decide to go with 😍
Rather know how to get my 2020 wrx to 500 without blowing the car up
Build the engine. E85, bigger turbo and supporting applications
Hey whats up bro! With the tial 38mm wga, did you use it on your stock turbo or fp?
I used it on my FP but you can use it with a stock turbo as well you just need the eastegate bracket
Got my limp map today (no boost and maxes at 4500rpm lol, it'll be an interesting drive to the tuner)
I am having some trouble with the oil pressure/ temp sensor for my new gauges though, they're too close to the headers. Not sure if it's because i did the cooler or pickup, but hopefully I can find a work around. Wish me luck! Either way that'll be later, gonna get the AFR in today and get it tuned hopefully Tuesday. 😬👍👍
Sounds like it will be an interesting day! Keep me posted on the tune!
@@Smeedia for sure. 👍👍
😬😬😬😬
Got one of the best tuners on the east coast working on it, Hill from Agile in MD. At least he comes highly recommended all over the forums. 👍
Currently on deployment but can't wait til I go fmic on my wrx at home. Probably do the brz manifold swap as well.
Stay safe out there my man! Spent some time over in Afghanistan I know how it can be. The BRZ manifold is a good swap on the WRX!
@@Smeedia I'm deployed in Poland. I was deployed in the middle east last year tho. And you too Bro I keep hearing the states is rough too 🙏🏾🙏🏾
Its not as bad as most make it out to be but some areas are a little rough
@@Smeedia I agree
I've got an STI with Invidia J pipe and catback 3" with SF Cobb Intake and just upgraded to 1050x and AEM fuel pump. My biggest issue I'm having is my LT Fuel Trims are high in AF Learn C when im cruising. Smoke tested, no leaks....do yout hink this could be because of fuel pressure regulation? It boosts fine, but it does stumble a bit between 2500-3500 RPM, especially in lower gears.
Cant find an up pipe for the FA WRX. Is the only way to add an EWG is by headers?
Yes, the FA20 does not have an up pipe so it would come off of the header
quick question would i need a tune for the radium FPR? thx
You will unless you match the Fuel pressure to stock
Can’t wait to hear how it sounds once it’s done!
Same, can't wait to get the car on the dyno! 🔥😁
Smeedia I can’t wait for the video!
Won’t running catless set you in the problems of not passing a smog check? Live in ky now and they don’t have them here but moving to Nevada in a month.
Depends on the state regulations, we don't have them here in Washington, I know California would have an issue on it. Not sure about other states
I know you're against OTS maps but I have the stage 2 from MAPerformance and was wondering if I need a pro tune for a fuel pump and larger injectors.
You will need a produce for bigger injectors, no tune is needed for a fuel pump
You quit your job with only 12.7K subs? Your a brave man. Good luck brother, I hope you make it.
I want to know why you need a catted downpipe if you don't go external wastegate. My car runs no wastegate on a catless downpipe
Subject to boost creep which can result in the engine leaning out and killing the motor. Only real way to mitigate boost creep is to go EWG
@@Smeedia even on a good pro tune ? I guess ill find out Tuesday. I went boost control and 1050 injectors to try and prevent that with bolt ons. Hopefully I dont have any problems
A protune will definitely help to control it but youll still see it happen in colder temps
Cheers
What’s the different of running catted down pipe with no external wastegate to catless down pipe with uppipe with external wastegate?
Catless downpipe will be more prone to boost creep due to the smaller IWG hole. The EWG will be able to balance out and get rid of the excess exhaust gasses. Catted downpipe with IWG is more so used in states with stricter emmisons but the cat helps create some backpressure to help keep the car from overboosting.
Smeedia what makes you go with catless?
I was catted 🙏
Smeedia with out looking at the performance, what do you prefer? Catted or catless with EWG?
Catless with an EWG set up
Do you need headers to run the catless downpipe safely? Or is the up pipe with the ewg enough?
An up pipe with EWG is enough 🙏
I’m a little late but what about the fuel rails, lines, and ethanol sensor for e85? Or is that not needed to go flex fuel
All needed 🙏 some cars come with a fuel system that can handle E85 others need those parts swapped
I know this video is old but you mentioned having to go ewg so would you also have to pin closed the internal waste gate on the stock turbo?
Here i am watching this, as if i had an STI 🙄☹️
Some of it is still applicable 😁
@@SmeediaI'm with this guy, sitting here with a WRX wondering how to hit ~300 WHP.
J Pipe, EBCS, Catback, Intake, EGR/TGV Delete, Acessport, intercooler and produce should get you there 😁
@@Smeedia Holy shit I've only started watching your page and you're already a top favorite for me. Thanks!
That is a good price for what your getting! Solis recommendation 🔥🙌
if your going to get it tuned, then why the access port?
Most tuners use Cobbs tuning software to tune the car so the access port is needed for them to be able to tune the car unless your doing open source tuning
Will you need to upgrade the turbo at all?
I have sti from 2011 I want only intake and Downpipe i have good tuner but do i need something more i dont want huge boosting the car
great vid!!! what about the fuels rails? I want to run both intake & dp for now, are injectors and fuel pump upgrades enough to support both?
Injectors and FP will be enough to support, no need for rails unless you want to do them and shoot for higher power 🔥
You should be good without any fuel upgrades, but you will need a tune, the Accessport has OTS maps specific for just the intake and downpipe. (I think it would be stage 1+?)
Note: I had just done up pipe, down pipe, cat back exhaust and intake without any fuel changes running stage 2+ OTS map for years with no issue and GREAT results.
Gotcha, thanks that's good to know. 👍👍
That's why I threw in that I've got a 12, just in case.
Good luck with your build! 👍👍
@@omgtrey thanks bro ✌
I need to start betting on which corner you put the subscribe icon in. I miss sports so much😢
🤣🤣🤣 going to start mixing it up.more now 😅
Is a COBB AP necessary if you do a protune? Obviously the gauges are helpful but budget wise and performance is it useful if you do a protune?
Unfortunately yes, .oat tuners use a software called accesstuner which works in conjunction with the accessport
@@Smeedia ok thanks man
Got a 19 WRX.
Accessport
TGV/EGR Delete
Intake
J pipe

Fuel pump 😁
@@Smeedia saweeeet thanks man.
State 2 on a 2019 STI is just a downpipe or turbo back. You cannot use an intake downpipe combo on the stock fuel system
You'll have better boost control with an EWG than you would with an IWG 🙏
And no, you'll cap the Injectors pretty quick. ID1000s can get you to 450 on pump gas. For E85 you'll want 1300s
@@Smeedia So what did you do to the stock turbo wastegate and actuator? Did you take them off (or weld shut the wastegate port)?
Congrats on your last day tomorrow, brother! TGIF!
Thank you! Very excited and nervous 😅
Yes, you don't have to swap them over with those mods
@@Smeedia thank you bro
so e85 doesn't exist in my area. is 350whp is that still possible for a 2015 sti
Yes but you'll need a different turbo 🙏
Looking at running an Invidia N1 Cattback on my FXT but recently have been looking at COBB quad tip cattback. Not looking for screams just not stock, any recommendations? Preferably dual tip
I would get the cobb, little more tamed and looks better IMO 🔥
Would all of these work for a non sti? Do you have another video for non sti wrx? Just wondering and ik ill probably getbsome flak for not going with the sti but could afford it lol thanks.
Same same for a EJ based WRX an FA20 will make thr power a but easier up until about 400WHP
I have an 2017 Stock STI and I wonder if I can increase whp just by replacing the downpipe, booster selenoid and intake
You'll need to do the fuel system as well or you'll run lean 🙏
Just curious how does the external waste gate and upipe work with the stock turbo with an internal waste gate already?
Yes, you just need the bracket to keep the IWG closed 🙏
Hey smeedia. What would cause a misfire under load? 3-4k rpm. Plugs already changed. Cel code p0300. A code p0171 system too lean bank 1 was a code I gotten before the misfire. Any suggestions? Some suggest it’s injectors issue.
Could be a clogged injector, what is the car and whats all done to it? I had similar issues with my STI when I was running an intake + Downpipe on a OTS Map
Does it sound right? I had misfire codes due to cracked uppipe and turbo, so too much air getting in. Sounded super aggro with the holes.
I'd you factor in e85, which of these parts could you skip to get 350whp? Could you skip the ewg?
A lot of them E85, intake, downpipe, intercooler should get you close
I have a 02 bugeye wrx but man after repairing some parts on it I’ve decided to get rid of it and I’m currently waiting on a buyer. I’ve been watching your vids for a while and I’m set on getting a 2015+ wrx just to be at ease to throw on parts without worrying anything else because the car is a lot newer
The newer WRX will be much nicer 🙏🔥
Do you have different suggestions for these parts when not restricted to Amazon? Curious if it makes a difference, and a bunch of the links are dead now.
I'll update those links! And I alqays link to where I can find them cheapest. Normally Amazon has been the best in the past but rallysport direct and the mod garage are two other very good sites 😁
What's your wheel and tire setup?
At thr time of this video worl emotion D9R 18x9.5 +38 on 255/40/18
I should be making about 350 or more don’t you think?
I also just got a mamba GTX2971r ball bearing
At what point should I start worrying about the internals?
Whats the car? 🙏
@@Smeedia it’s a 2018 STi.
Wouldent really send the stock block past 400 🙏
Curious about how to flush the power steering fluid on these 15+ STi's. Could that be a possible how-to video in the future?
Yes I will when the time comes 😁
Just suck most the fluid out the reservoir add new fluid and turn the wheel back and forth for like 1 minute repeat this process until fluid is a nice red color. Engine is running when ur doing it btw
do you think TGV Deletes and phenolic spacers are needed since you're doing this much or naw?
TGV deletes yes. The spacers are your call, they will help to keep intake manifold Temps down which would help
If a person wanted to make 340hp in a 2017 cvt wrx would the list be about the same as this?
Yes however the CVTs like to throw fits around 320WHP so just be cautious of that
@@Smeedia any parts that could help solve that? Or one of those things that there’s no way around?
No way around it as far as I'm aware. People have been battling with thr CVTs for a while
@@Smeedia thanks bro you’re the 🐐
