Wow! 8 years ago? I had one of these about 4 years ago but had to sell it when things took a dive, by the grace of God I have managed to find another one on EBay today (6th Dec 2023) so can get back to using one of the best mics I have ever had. Awesome mic.
I just don't understand why you gentlemen are NOT SPEAKING INTO the mic you're reviewing, but using clip-on lavs instead! I mean, I come to sites like this to HEAR new mics, not to hear somebody saying things like "this mic sounds WONDERFUL" while talking into anything else BUT the mic in question. Why can't you include some actual sound samples? If you made cameras, would you LEAVE OUT showing examples of great photos taken with them??? I think not.
I wonder how much of the pleasing sound of this mic has to do with the fact that it's has a Figure-8 pattern where both lobes of the "8" are equally sensitive and 180 degrees out-of-phase. Be interesting to experiment with an absorber on the back side to see how attenuating room reflections affect the sound quality.
I use it in studio sessions in combination with a Sennheiser md421 on brass (trompet) , thats bytes with a lot of dynamic without compression in mid mid-high in contrast like a lot of Chinese condensor sh@t.
I love the sound of this mic but I was a little put off by their calling other ribbon mics 'dull'. Best to sell your product by not putting down other makers or mics.

Do these work well with a mid side technique and can u use a pre amp even tho it’s not necessary?

But they are dull!
Dull just means lack of treble in audio lingo. Nothing disparaging about it.
