    Thanks for the informative video! What according to you is the difference between inertial reference system and inertial navigation system in the context of drones?

      INS was the initial system that was relied on for long range navigation, it used mechanical Gyros.
      The IRS on the other hand, uses ring laser gyros, it is the modern type of INS if you would like to think of it that away, thus it is more accurate compared to the INS.
      Hope the above helped

    Thks & ?Can I use my fancy smartphone as a cheap AHRS?
    If-so, ?What the accuracy compared to the one you just spoke of?

      I wouldn't recommend that, because the smartphone MEMS is way much less accurate, and not certified for aviation use.

      @@ATPLStudent Thks for replying;
      Actually I'm thinking about getting into built my own RC airplane from scratch. So I'm considering just developing apps on a smartphone for all the processing, sensors, etc for the RC planes. I'm a retired physicist & it seems kinda the simplest thing to do.
      Oh, ?Can you guestimate the relative accuracy of a smartphone's AHRS & those used in commercial airplanes?
      I just want a gestimate to plan how I might do this project & how close it might be to the real-thing..
