  • CHR treats some of the most difficult infertility cases and we have noticed that many of our PCOS patients aren't the "classical" PCOS phenotype, but rather, something called a "lean" PCOS phenotype. In this video, Dr. Gleicher explains the difference between the two and how they can affect egg quality throughout the lifespan. I am not a lean pcos nor am I obese . I have had 4 natural pregnancies and births with all healthy children. I was amazed thinking I would struggle to have children. My last baby was at 42 as well. I guess I got lucky.

Interesting! I don’t really fit into your study. I am I lean pcos gal. I was able to get pregnant with my son when I was 22. I went off birth control never got my period back yet 4 months later I got pregnant. Now at 27 I have a pretty consistent period. My doctor has me on a natural progesterone days 14-28, I’m taking a few different supplements yet I am struggling with infertility. My testosterone is very high.

Thank you for explaining this! I was diagnosed with PCOS and I’m very lean, and fit and ovulate normally there’s just an issue with estrogen and low progesterone. My cycles are 31-34 days and I do in fact ovulate, but have the classic cystic look on my ovaries

I love the explanation but I still find myself confused because I have 35+ eggs per ovary and my period is irregular but I do not have high androgens and prior to having my daughter a couple years ago I’ve always had regular periods. I have been pregnant twice, no complications worth pregnancy or birth. It makes no sense to me! I have no characteristics of high testosterone either,
And don’t have high estrogen either. I’ve never had weight problems and am thin. I feel like maybe it’s pco that I have? I’ve found doctors to be no help so far. It’s so frustrating.

There is a list of sintoms to check if it could be PCOS, google it. You have to have 3 or more of those things to have pcos, not just 1 like lots of eggs per ovary, that alone could not be pcos.
It’s a mixture of sintoms what determines if you have pcos or not.

Hi Leahla, how have you been diagnosed with PCOS then? What your doctor said? Do you have other symptoms? Like acne, hirsutism, insulin resistance?
There are different phenotypes of PCOS.

So, would this explain why I've had my period every single day for the past 5+ years? I menstruate every day 24/7/365. Sometimes (maybe once a year) I'll stop bleeding for a day or two but after that it goes back to what I now call "normal". It explains why I can't get pregnant but the bleeding.. will it ever end. 😭

Poor you! Like this woman from the Bible...
Actually that's not typical for PCOS. Here you have 35+ days cycles or you do not even bleed for months.
But you could still get your hormones checked (DHEAS, testosterone, estrogen AMH, LH, FSH) and have an ultrasound done of the ovaries.

It's a whole chapter about women and their sufferings in the antique world: a girl aged 12 (the age to be married) dies, and a woman who has been bleeding for 12 years (symbolic number)...and the bleeding made her impure back then, she couldn't live. So it's all about how the patriarchy made women suffer horribly and how Jesus and kingdom of God comes to end all this.
I never thought there are really women like her or you 😪❤

I have the exact same issues and have been struggling with this since my period started. My longest period was about 9 months😭 I just got an ultrasound and it turns out it is due to PCOS. So far my doctor has only proposed birth control as a solution for the bleeding. Although rare if you’re younger, long periods of bleeding can point to cancer. Not trying to scare you or anything but I would definitely go to an OBGYN asap. Good luck

Hi, I had intravaginal scan they wrote on the paper that my ovaries have many follicles and maybe I have PCOS, then it came out that my antimüller hormon levels were high and the androsterone hormon was slightly elevated. Based on the tests I have PCOS.
But I have no symptoms. My skin is good, I have much hair on my head. I have even less body hair than the average women, my blood pressure is very normal, insulin, blood sugar and everything else is ok. I have very regular periods and I think, I’m almost sure that I ovulate as well, but maybe no, I’m not sure.

There's approximately 5-6 different variants of PCOS with different symptoms. Possibly more that I am unaware of. Some things that helped me with weight loss and insulin resistance:
      1)No artificial sugars
      2)No fried foods
      3)No pop
      4)No bread
5)Exercise at a moderate intensity 15-20 minutes daily....small amount of perspiration
6)Incorporate metabolism boosting foods and spices into your cooking- cayenne, garlic and turmeric are your friends!
7)Intermittently fasting. Do research on the fasting-eating window and how to modify if you take medication
8)Drink 1/2 your body weight in water daily. Add pure lemon or lime juice to help with detoxifying the body. Concentrates contain sugar.
9)Apple cider vinegar. 2 tbsp in the morning with
6-8oz cold water to jumpstart your metabolism. Drink 30 minutes before first meal or coffee. Drink 45 minutes after last meal of the night. Helps to cut sugar which will help with sleep.
Try this for 30 days. Modify exercise for any joint pain but keep up the intensity. Journal your food, water, and exercise. Record weight and measurements before and after. Give yourself grace and don't give up. If you fall off one meal, get back right on the next one. I'm down 125lbs and it took over 2 years. The more medications you can come off, if on any, the better your results. Some of the side effects are causing other problems. As I began to drop the pounds I noticed certain symptoms disappear. The more weight you drop the more energy you will have. It also improves your mood. You got this! Do it for you!

Not all, I have pcos but low androgens. It won't help my phenotype bc myo inositol lowers androgens and helps those who are infertile bc of that reason.
