I love Mac OS there are tutorials for creating a hackintosh or you can get a good refurbished mac, I prefer sketchup and cinema 4d above all C4D never fails me on mac I use both win and mac to have the best of both worlds, if you need animations I think the best way to go is Lumion sadly is just for windows but as I said you can have both on a mac or a hakintosh
PC stands for Personal Computer. So yes his Mac is his personal computer. Windows, Chromebook, & Linux can be a PC too.

Can you film a video showing us how did you actually put all the pieces (motherboard,cpu,graphics card..etc) together ? Or did you mean to choose the pieces and give it to a professional to put together?

Some points to clear things up:
CPU: Always prioritize base clock speed vs the number of cores. Your machine will be more-rounded for both modeling and rendering. When comparing CPUs, theoretically use formula (base clock * the number of cores) to denote the CPU's performance. Then choose the one with the highest base clock between your choices.
GPU: If possible, equip 2 GPUs. 1 cheap 2nd-hand NVidia Quadro for CAD/modeling. The other 1 high-end NVidia Geforce GTX/RTX for rendering and visualization.
RAM: 16GB is the minimum standard these days. The total RAM will depend on the complexity of your scenes. Overbuying RAM would have been spent on SSDs or faster HDD.
*Also invest in a color-accurate display. Your designs will be put to waste if your monitor is not capable of displaying the colors correctly. 100% sRGB value is the goal and should not settle for anything less.

Ar. Llyan, is iMac better than customizing or buying your own setup? If iMac is equipped with i8, is it be better in terms using autocad and rendering for speed and graphics or does customizing your own pc better?

Value-Performance wise for Architects is the AMD Ryzen 2700X paired with a Nvidia GTX 1080Ti (not 2080Ti because it's expensive) then using dual channel of 16gb to 32gb RAM at least 26666 mhz Kingston HyperX or Corsair vengeance, 500gb SSD, 2TB HDD and an Asus TUF series motherboard at least B450M series AM4 socket, or X470 series if you have bigger budget. Don't forget a good Power supply, at least a Seasonic M12II 750 watts Bronze will do a great job. Also pick a nice Casing, I personally like the Fractal Design Meshify Mini C because it's tiny and cute and has good airflow. But you can get the Cooler Master H500P if you have the full size motherboard and bigger budget. Plus I almost forget, get a nice CPU Cooler to replace the stock cooler. Get the Noctua NH-d15, it's not rgb, it looks ugly but its the best air cooler out to cool down the 8 core, 12 threads Ryzen 2700X. I'm not a fan of RGB and water cooler because of reliability issues of water coolers.

I'll just suggest for students that wants a portable rendering machine to get a razer blade 15 or stealth 13 with a gpu that fits with your needs

I've seen a lot of rayzen laptops, they don't have the same performance as build pc but is nice that the price drop down a lot
Yeah the laptops are limited by the small space while PCs can go all out on clock speeds due to proper cooling:)

I agree with his specs. I have an HP15074ND with 8 gig ram i7HQ and 950gtx. And it can run Archicad, Revit Photoshop, Sketchup, Autocad smoothly.. but when its rendering time, things get more heavy and it starts making airplane sounds😂. But if it is just for small rendering its recommended if youre on a budget. But Id go with the bigger specs.
What if I can't afford 16gb ram? :(((

architecture softwares like vray utilizes a "cpu with more cores with less clock speed" much better compared to a "cpu with high clock speed with less cores" thus, higher clock speeds in cpu does not necessarily mean it's better...

jungguk I got one during my third year. Some time you have to have one to get used to it before thesis year. Some profs require digital outputs by the start of fourth year. But it is really just easier to start early.
If you don't have a PC then you need a laptop, there are a lot of research works and CAD assignments during the early years of architecture school:)

i7 9th gen, 16gb ram, gtx 1060. This should be around 70-80k:) You can get one with a gtx 1070 for around 99k:)
I HAVE A QUESTION, Why didn't he point out 2X and 4X GTX 1080 Ti? Does it mean to combine them? Because it's gonna be not much of a big price difference than RTX 2080Ti, but much better results
The base speed and boost speed of the GTX 1080 ti is slower than the GTX 1080?? That makes no sense.
Yup since the 1080ti has a higher memory speed, more memory bandwidth, more vram and more cuda cores, thus still beating the 1080 in performance even though it has slower clock speeds.
How about Radeon eGPU recommendations? I think I have enough RAM and CPU just for AutoCAD and SketchUp, excluding rendering. However I experience too much lag when using SketchUp alone. Or am I wrong about my RAM and CPU?

Aravind.H. Kumar it is actually okay. But there are a lot of other laptops you can try. As a gaming laptop, you can expect good performance in rendering and design. But for rendering, pc is excellent.

Hi my laptop is an i5 but uses radeon graphics. It works but not really that smooth. You're gonna have to learn how to hide ur layers when using sketchup so it won't lag as much, and let's just say rendering is uhm...yes...let's just say my classmate had to use his laptop for my share of the rendered project. Good news is you can buy improvements in lazada or shoppee to make your laptop work better.

STEM kaso d mo gano ma fefeel ung architecture kasi walang subjects na pang architecture sa SHS magagamit mo lng ung mga math related like trigo , pre cal and basic cal.
ang importante lng is dapat magaling ka mag isip ng concept ( design concept) and tuturo naman ung drawing sa mismong course ng archi pero mostly on cad and revit na ngayon.

i just bought an Acer laptop and it says it is AMD RYZEN 3 and RADEON VEGA GRAPHICS AMD welp it is a gaming laptop actually :) and everytime i just open my social media like fb and scrolling stuff down... it will crash.. uhehue halp meeh :(((
You probably have a problem with the videocard or ram:) Sometimes they aren't cooled properly and crashes.

Unlike for laptops... Is such high gpu's necessary..? I mean you recommendations starts from 1070, even the basic 2D works, run decently in 2gb GPU.. Even for new P.C I went with 6gb, 1060.. Just short of your list.. lol🤣

I know that feel bro! haha!!:) Anyways i recommended these based on experience when handling large files, you will need a strong graphics card and processor. Also i haven't bought parts for my pc yet since i'm super broke right now haha!!
