This is what I call living. Not being tied to anything. Just waking up on a whim, shoving some stuff in a rucksack and going to a train station with no idea where I’m gonna end up. This is freedom.
You should jump on the train from Lincoln to Newark Notts ( 30 mins on train) and explore the lovely market town. Some beautiful Tudor buildings, a civil war museum, an old ruined castle ( all free to view). A beautiful walk along the riverside full of barges, locks etc. and plenty of old world pubs selling real ale. Some really nice cafes too. Then travel on to Nottingham.
Your channel will absolutely blow up with this kind of series, it’s very interactive for followers and immediate results, quality stuff
Thank you, I'm enjoying it. If it works I'll do another in a different country 😊
Loving the idea of just travelling wherever. Bit of spontaneity.
We are so lucky to live in a country like this. With so many places to explore our history and culture.
You cheer me up every time I see your videos..thankyou and keep them coming....so cheers James 🍻
Thank you so much 😊❤️
Stunning architecture in the Cathedral ❤,great weather , lucky man !
Only ever been once, to the Cathedral to sign the book of condolences for Princess Diana, that said event or indeed the trip will never leave my mind, excellent video as always.
Brilliant James!! Looking forward to the next one ☝️ ❤
Possible this is one of your best yet! We felt as if we had a good wee day out! lol
“ I’ve got a falafel from Co Op. Livin’ t dream.”
🤣🤣
My home town……and looking great……
Saw your VIDEO on Bury Market, So I got on VOEL Coaches in Wales. Thankyou brilliant market really enjoyed it. But the in door market is closed down Roof unsafe. Told a few market Staller's I saw the market on U Tube with you. Janet Kelly North Wales.
Just love this.Lincoln is such a wonderful plac.Architecture and Histor has everything
Great video! Wow, Lincoln looks amazing. That cathedral! I am an atheist, but I love the architecture of churches and cathedrals. It reminds me of York. It was refreshing to see the lack of diversity here. I don't care if that hurts the feelings of any lefty viewers. We are losing our country and this is a breath of fresh air. I live in Cornwall and would visit Lincoln. I am a Yorkshireman myself.
We’re not affected here as yet. But once they start to fill Scampton unfortunately it will no doubt change.
That doesn't hurt my feelings 😃 although I'm neither a lefty or a righty. What does upset me, though, is you (or anyone) saying that you don't care about the feelings of others. That says far more about you than anything else you choose to say
What is loosing our country? Look back through history and see how British people are made up genetically.
@@akwiredtasteI think he means he wants to speak his mind and so he should. I’m happy for and agree with his sentiment 🙂
@@giorgipiorgiI have no problem with people speaking their mind, and I have no problem with what he said, but we have to remember that speaking our minds can reflect on us negatively as well as positively, and when someone quite brazenly says that they don’t care about other people’s feelings, they’re certainly entitled to say it, but they have to take in to account that it doesn’t paint them in a positive light or bathe them in glory, but as he doesn’t care about other people’s feelings, he won’t care one way or the other
So glad you enjoyed your pint at The Struggs! 😊 And good that the sun stayed out. Hope you enjoy at least some of London (I’m a Londoner so a bit biased!) Galleries and museums are free so worth a visit. Might have to book a time slot though. Enjoy your trip and looking forward to seeing where you head next!
I'm glad to see you made it to Lincoln, would have been better with a full day and avoiding that there London!
I use to live in Lincoln city from ages 14 till 25 met my first love at Skegness butlins and she lived in Lincoln with her mum .. we ended up buying the house her mum had and lived there for some years then had a son who still lives in Lincoln .. he’s making us proud and his exams this year in Lincoln .. Lincoln has came some way .. back in the 90s everyone knew everyone .. not at all now .. the university has brought some good but more bad to the city and a lot of people have said the same from the area.. but we all have to go with the times so good luck James thanks for some old views mate ❤
Thanks James for taking us on your journeys .. All that walking will keep you fit too.. 😊
Wow James I loved that.... Lincoln cathedral was mind blowing, how did they build something like that.....the London room looks good to me. U have fun and looking forward to seeing your next vlog.. you are so easy to watch James you cheer me up... hope to bump into soon.
Debbie Brid
Thank you Debbie 😊
The Diceman, good idea this looking forward to see how it pans out.
Absolutely loved this video James, me and the wife used to have some fantastic weekend breaks in Lincoln, it's one of our favourite cities, full of history and such a charming place, fantastic vlog and much appreciated ❤️👍
Fantastic video James, full of interesting places of interest and facts!! You were lucky with the beautiful sunshine! Enjoy London!! 😊🏴🏴
Great video. Went to visit Lincoln for the first time for my birthday earlier this year and loved it. 😊
Considering how quick you did everything it turned out amazing! Cant believe they sent you to London! the pubs in Leicester are way more your vibe! I went to uni in Leicester it was madness! ah well another adventure! Helen would have loved Lincoln overnight!
Love it!
I live just down the road from Lincoln. The Victorian prison is really interesting, but £17 is a bit steep on pricing to be honest. The fantastic Christmas market used to be held around the castle before the city council banned it for being "Too busy"!
Also, the tank was invented and built in Lincoln!
Back in the 1980's I worked for British rail engineering and had free travel on trains. my mate and I went to Lincoln. They were just starting to try and charge an entrance fee to the Cathedral! we just ignored it and went and sat and prayed for a couple of minutes then wandered round and a young chap offered us a trip to the top of the Tower for a modest fee we took him up and with a party of people made the climb to the top of the tower. it was amazing! We came down and both gave a donation for our trip!
Great vlog. Lincoln looks beautiful 👍
Great idea this James.Lincoln is another of my favourite places but we stay up the top of the hill...not daft.
Great James well done 👍 loved it 🥰
Great video James, more of them please 👍
Great choice James. Lincoln is a beautiful place to visit. London, not so much...☺️🇬🇷
Enjoying your vlogs. 👍. Looking forward to the next one.
Beautiful cathedral
Loved Lincoln ….. thanks James very interesting! I’ve never been there myself even though I lived quite near there years ago !
I’m looking forward to the London sightseeing, good luck on that one !!
If you had got the tube to Covent Garden you could have stayed in a Premier Inn for less money and a better location, you would have then been in the centre of everything……
Anyway I hope you are not accosted by the ladies of the night in K X 😂😂😂
Good Luck and goodnight
Love Lincoln it's a beautiful place to visit ❤❤
Great vlog. Love the Lincoln architecture. That hotel didn't look too bad really. Keep safe and onwards to the next adventure 😊
London onwards!!!! 👏👏👏
Glad you went to Lincoln... I remember the walls and that majestic Cathedral well from my visit in 1973 as I am also a bit of a history buff. Entrance was free in those days though they charged a pretty penny for the colour brochures that they sold to tourists. Thanks for taking us along. [P.S. What no Museum of Fish & Chips yet! Good thing I'm not in charge of where you go next. 😁
Great idea for this video. Enjoyed it as always James 😊
Try not to be negative about London it is a great place to visit. Especially if you like history. A day in London is no where near long enough though to get a feel for the place. Enjoy
This looks like a fun little trip. I love doing local transportation where there are trains and buses. My friend and I would always do that on a cruise, we'd come into port and then I had already planned where the transportation was and off we'd go exploring. I'd love to go back in time too. I want to see how my ancestors would have lived and most certainly it would make you appreciate how much easier life is now. Great video James, this was a brilliant idea of how to take us along on an adventure. Beautiful Lincoln tour, looking forward to London.
Thank you, hopefully will have the London vlog uploaded for tomorrow night 😊
Brilliant idea
That's a great idea James, absolutely amazing vlog again 👍🏻. The misses and I done Lincoln last year or so ago, fantastic place...❤... Being an ex east London lad, that Did make me laugh once you got to London 😂
...good luck mate👍🏻,looking forward to next one.
Top video James a great idea !!
Wonderful just wonderful Sir James. I voted for Lincoln. Bless you. It is truly beautiful but steep stuff. So the Normans and the Romans ravaged the place.
Thank you 😊❤️
Lovely looking place Lincoln, thanks for showing us around mate.
Didnt get chance to join in the voting but enjoyed the vlog "cheers"
Well done James on getting up the hill. Worth it though😊
As always great video James ❤love the idea of voting on which city to go to loved Lincoln
Pinched our game , how dare you. Really like your channel. We used to on Friday after work catch the first train out of the country, and be back in work for Monday. (living in Germany
Lovely vid. 👍 I know it well my son lives uphill (posh part😉), friendly people and just big enough. Many times, especially on sunny days, l've seen tourists "in drink" fall going uphill as well as downhill on Steep Hill. 🤣
Brilliant, Lincoln looked great, never been.
Can’t wait to see the next one.
Take care.. iv been voting 😂 Lucy xx
Thank you Lucy
Great idea putting your life to the vote!😂😂😂. Great content again m8😉
Great concept this is. Good luck kid
Nice vlog James, my son and daughter live there, so I spent most of my time keeping an eye out for them. Ahhh the steep, it’s a killer.
Great Vlog 👍🌟
Love Lincoln. Been a couple of times just for a couple of nights. Definitely enjoyed a few pints in the strugglers when we visited.
hi guys. i love watching your videos
Brilliant yet again, just missed Helen because of all the shops you walked passed. You would not have got away with that. lol.
Do marvelous video James really good 👍
Never Been There Pal ,Looks Great ❤.
Lovely video James. You will have to get a railcard, I believe you would save a third of the price. I also believe there is a European style railcard that can save you money, if you are serious about going abroad..
There is a direct train from Barnsley to Carlisle on a Sunday morning. The return is 2 or 3 changes. A lovely run over settle Carlisle Line. & A nice Wetherspoons near to the station.
Look forward to your London experience.
Re: Lincoln Video.
My aunt was an avid stamp collector, she spent most of her spare time trawling philately fairs building an extensive global collection it was her lifes work. Our instructions when she died were to get a valuation from a reputable dealer she had, had contact with on Steephill in Lincoln. When we explained the size of the collection the Husband & Wife team agreed to visit our Aunts home for valuation purposes. The anticipation was enormous but the day of reckoning turned out to be an anticlimax. The collection was worthless explained the experts. Aunty had made the error most stamp collectors made and accrued a massive collection of high circulation crap.
' What we were hoping to see were the quality stamps of an edition... everyone has the low value stuff, but very few have invest in the more sought after expensive stamps. What you have here is a collection of easy to obtain quantity over quality explained the expert.
Aunts stamp collection was rubbish but I think the appraisal from the Lincoln stamp experts was priceless.
Ha - it's years since I heard the word "bonce". Also, "have you looked on Google"? Part of the fabric of society is engagement with each other and helping somebody with directions makes you feels good - tell them to sod off.
Really enjoyed that! Great video mate. Totally hooked to your channel 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you 😊
I used to drive around Lincoln to get to Skegness but I’ve never been. I think going on the train is a must 😊
We where at Lincoln on Monday ,the historic part lovely ,good vlog James Ange
Nice one James, I voted Lincoln and London sorry 😂😂 happy and safe travels. I’m so glad u got the sleeper train to Edinburgh. Seetheee Maxx
Thank you Maxx
Love Lincoln
Well done, hard schedule. Sleep well.
Every time I worked out to Lincoln with driver Kevin, we'd walk up that steep hill and he'd be pulling pound coins out of the gutter all the way up and coming back down. I don't know how he did it. We hadn't had pound coins long either.
Do you remember a TV programme some 20 years ago called The Diceman. He used to travel randomly and report on what he saw, but used a throw of the dice to decide which of 6 destinations he would go to after suggestions by people. You could do that to decide all the suggestions fairly.
I do. It's something I've thought of doing
great vlog james
That was grate James
Hi James great vlog. Be careful in that there London 😳. Peace 🧚
I grew up in Lincoln .. a lovely city ❤
That’s when we’re polite ,to each other, and help to each other. Not now it’s all take.
Lincoln is a wonderful place I love it been there a few times I think you should hit Leeds next down by the dark arches there is a pub called the hop it’s amazing back in the day me and my husband had the same place we had a night club there for a couple of years we went back three years ago how things change we do love a bit of past time to thank you for the great content another video well worth watching 😊
Its a lovely place and I think I prefer it to York as its less busy but not by much, so much to see and do in the area, Steep Hill reminds me of when my daughter was at Uni in Bangor they had a similar hill which the locals called Bitch Hill it was that steep ! If you get chance try and book the Sky Garden on line in London its Free to go up and you get some fantastic views of London.
When you were asking those people where the Strugglers was I was shouting at my phone "Turn left James 🤣
Brilliant, as a new subscriber I'm really enjoying watching all your stuff, just pickin out random vids ti watch.
Any way, where's Hellibobs on this one, she's marvellous and so funny 😁
Thank you for the sub. Unfortunately Helen works lots of hours so can only come with me occasionally. We've got some good trips coming soon though
I love your videos and I love the UK but of course I'm biased lol ❤🏴
@5:05 James, I bet you thought you had taken a wrong turn down Ducketts Passage and become Gary Sparrow for a moment there. 1940's 😆(Goodnight Sweetheart)
Enjoy your travels!
🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉Regards Howard from Cyprus
You n Helen should do a series like the classic late 90s early 00s TV show The Diceman. Get some dice, ask 6 random members of the public where to go or what activities to do then roll the dice to decide
James the video quality is superb ! when you put mike on as it was windy it was perfect nice one mate going to keep watching im up 9.09
You did well to cover what you could in short time time you had in Lincoln it’s gonna be expensive to go in these tourist places
But you put together a good video
All the same 😊
love a tesco meal deal !!
I remember a few years ago go my son went on a school trip to Lincoln cathedral and castle to see the Magna Carta …. It was not there it had been loaned out for some show lol … you’d think they would have checked lol.
Stamford Lincs, is the place to go young man
I think the challenge should be to only visit attractions that are free.
BLOODY LONDON 😂💙❤
Great stuff, missed the vote tho. Nice choice everyone 😍
I hate that hill! Remember it when visiting the Christmas market. Neary bloody killed me!🥵
London??? .. what ya doing jim bob 😅.. Great vlog mate .
Do a local one pal. Best spots in south yorks 👍
hey, and we didn’t even have to walk up Steep Hill! lol
Thanks
Thank you so much 😊❤️
Wow James I went off line for a few days and you've done a world wide trip starting at Lincoln. On the subject of hill names, my son went to Bangor university and there is a hill in the middle of the town known as Bitch Hill, take a walk up it some day and you would agree. That's not it's real name of course which is 'For Fuc*s Sake Hill' Going down you can nearly fly. Can't' say I'm looking forward to your London video, kin hate the place, far too many people and the buildings are too high. Feels like it's all going to come crashing down on you, or I might have a disease. I'll watch it anyway.
