Hey man, awesome cage! With what did you paint your aviary? Just a normal black steel paint? Or was it all powder coated??

Why did you choose to use extruded alumninum as opposed to square tubing?

Lightweight, won’t rust, no painting, and is super easy to cut. More money, less work.

@@RepTillis okay I can see that. Although, when I was referring to square tubing it was directed towards aluminum not plain or galvanized steel. That was my mistake for being too generic. So if you wouldn't mind if I reclarify my question. How come you chose to use extruded aluminum instead of aluminum square tubing? When they both have the same physical properties, being made from the same material, and extruded aluminum is more expensive. Forgive me, if this comes off as a criticism, it isn't at all. I love your aviary, I think it's a great idea. It's just I want to build one of my own, and I want to figure out the best way to do it. Also, another thing was I noticed that the extruded aluminum has this slot running throughout it's entire length, and you used that to hold the wire mesh in place. Have you thought about using plexiglass instead? I thought it would be a good idea since plexiglass is strong, durable, and it would give you a good view of the birds.

@@briananuvattanachai6646 Good questions! So this particular build was done for using extruded aluminum for two reasons. The first was that slot used to hold wire panels and such in place. Not critical for the built though, and could have been done using just square tubing and washers/screws to hold the wire panels. But the real reason was that I have other plans that I could only use extruded aluminum for. Specifically snake cages, where those slots play a critical roll in holding both PVC panels and plexiglass. This was my first time working with this material, and before taking a risk on snake cages, I decided to cut my teeth with the material on the aviary build, where the cages would be tucked away in the outbuilding if it turned out crap.

@@RepTillis thank you for your explanation, and for answering my questions. It was extremely helpful, if it wouldn't be inappropriate for me to ask, how much did it cost you to purchase a piece of extruded aluminum, and what was it's length? Also, is there anything specific I should be looking for regarding type, size, etc? If you ever plan to expand on this project, or even rebuild on this I have some links to some really good sources like the World Parrot Trust. Would like for me to share the links to those sources with you?
