- Strawberry Sugar to sweeten your tea, sprinkle over fresh fruit or pancakes! Maximize the strawberry flavour of your next strawberry based dessert by using this strawberry sugar instead of white granulated sugar.
For a stronger fruit flavour add more berries. Try not to exceed a 1:1 fruit to sugar ratio by volume, i.e. 1 cup freeze dried strawberries to 1 cup granulated sugar.
Change up the flavour by using freeze dried mangos or raspberries.
STRAWBERRY SUGAR
1 cup granulated white sugar
15 g or more freeze-dried strawberries or fruit of choice
1/4 tsp water
Place freeze dried strawberries into a food processer and pulse into a powder.
Add sugar to a bowl.
Sieve the powdered strawberries to remove any lumps. These lumps can be stirred into yogurt or mixed into your breakfast oats.
Stir the strawberry powder and sugar together.
Add the water and mix together with your hands. The sugar will be just slightly damp.
Spread the strawberry sugar onto a baking tray and allow to dry. Will take about 1 hour depending upon the humidity.
Store the Strawberry Sugar in an airtight container.
Best used within 1 month.
