- So, this is a remake of the original version of Alive. While I was really happy with the melody and general theme of the original alive, the song as a whole really wasn't doing it for me. So I remade it. A WAY cleaner mix, key change, all the instruments were replaced, and the kick was revised.
So, while this version of Alive maintains the same essence and a similar arrangement, it's totally different. I compared this and the old one, and the difference is kind of astounding. Also, this one sounds soo much better in my opinion.

hey did you make this kick yourself? if so whats the secret haha im trying to learn but no idea were to start!
Hey! So I always start out with a 909 kick that has a long hold time. Then, I'll boost the mids with EQ. Then, distort and EQ it to oblivion (This particular kick uses 8 distortions and 12 EQs). The hard part is taming that distortion. It's a really long and arduous process fine tuning your EQs until you're happy with it. Also, don't make the tok in the same FX chain. The kick will come out much better if you make the tok separately.
TL;DR - A hardstyle kick is basically an incredibly distorted 909 kick.

I prefer fruity waveshaper just because it's a lot more versatile, but it's totally possible to make a good kick with fast distort.
