I've done that as well on my R8. Fortunately there isn't an easy way for the screw to get tangled with moving parts in that area. So you should be fine. Replacement screws come in a set of two for about $14. I have the audi part# in the description. And fyi the screws do not come with the rubber washer. You can buy those from audi as well or go to the hardware store (that's what I did)..
I have an aftermarket exhaust which is a bit louder than stock so the relative noise difference is almost not noticeable. People that have installed these on R8s with stock exhaust do notice a bit more of a throaty sound when accelerating.
