been sitting out of 40k for the last couple of months, but my list including 3 banshees and scorps and 2 spears certainly went down lol, can fit a squad of canon windriders and throw in some more enhancements too
Love this, all that's changed in my list (so far in my mind) is I just am swapping out a phoenix gem for fates messenger, and shadow spectres for hawks. I love the guardian changes as a long time Ulthwe player, now just for warlocks to be better...
I'm glad you said something about banshees, i think with the point reduction they are very solid and will at least see some competitive play. I've had success throwing them in reserve for a rapid ingress threat
I do wish that 10 scorpions and Karandras did more, a big melee infiltrator block is always fun. Just feels bad that he only adds some more melee and +1 to hit for 100 points.
Your D-Cannon section clearly articulates one of the main reasons I stopped playing 10th. If I'm not always taking all the most powerful statlines available to a model (D-Cannons, Heavy Wraithcannons, Bright Lances etc) then I'm directly nerfing myself. Because that's what the unit is pointed as. So why would I ever run a Sword and Board Wraithknight (which used to be a cheaper option that you could squeeze into a list when you couldn't afford the cannons)? Why ever take a Sabre if I can have a Star Lance built in? Why take a Jetseer if they can't join my Shining Spears? It's awful game design. Giving them separate Datasheets would solve the problem but would also be a tacit agreement that this way of doing listbuilding is simply inferior to everything that came before it, when Wargear was a cost/reward decision you actually had to make. The way it stands now, there are no meaningful choices beyond "What models do I own?".
Been waiting for your opinion on this! Excited to get scorpians and banshees back on the table. I think we've pretty much seem the last of rangers for a while haha
I have a suspicion that we will get a a detachment using the webway gate(like Necrons and the monolith). I dont really want it UNLESS it is a cool aspect detachment but i have a feeling that is why they keep leaving it untouched.
I agree with you a lot about the points changes. This coupled with the meta shift has me looking at the on-foot Autarch with a Warlock with Stormies, and in particular I am looking at Yriel with a squad of Voidreavers, and Asurmen with a group of Avengers. Seens like a great way to play with objectives.
Excellent point about the support platforms - if they can’t balance the weapons for this and similar units (and are determined to have no points granularity) then separate data sheets would be a good idea. Can incorporate unique abilities also that way.
So with the points changed, do you think adding alynx for extra firepower is worth it and adding a third war walker with some anti infantry weapons mix?
I really want it to be, and it's speed can make it a turn 1 secondary scoring units your opponent HAS to kill, which pulls heat away from everything else. That said, I think it only makes sense in a durable rush list
I am very casual collector and player and on top of that was prevented from building and painting for a while due to an injury, so it has taken me 4 years to finally finish a fully painted 2000pts army for Craftworlds. Only a few days after I finally do, point changes hit. I was so scared lmao. Luckily the net result was my list was now 20pts cheaper and I picked up an enhancement for my farseer. But man did I shit myself for a moment there.
I feel like you're overselling the Banshees a bit. 5 with a Falcon and Eldrad is still a lot points. Not counting the Exarch 12 of those attacks are only damage 1. I'm not really impressed. They have the AP for higher armored units but those units also usually have multiple wounds. I'm not seeing it.
I mean yeah, they're not gunna be killing the toughest 3-4 wound heavy infantry without serious support, but the real takeaway here is - they cost 70 points! That's cheap, and unsupported they'll still blend light infantry and can threaten from a long range, at their points value they work well as a utility unit that trades well against other similarly costed units. Just another tool in the toolbox. I gotta say I do long for the days of 9th when Banshees were the blenders they deserved to be. I really hope they fix them in the Codex, at the very least I hope they regain their ability to ignore overwatch, cos damn they die to a stiff breeze!
Well, I did say they definitely are not an auto include. But I am sure your right- they are my favorite aspect kit, so I am looking for ways to use them in serious play
I'm kinda eyeing off Yriel with a squad of corsairs because of his OC shenanigans and their ability to contest objedtives. I also think Asurmen with Avengers is a big deal now, because we need to deal with hordes of orks.
Eh, spear average damage using shooting plus melee hit much more effectively than banshees. Yeah bikes cannot get through walls. I wouldn't ever run a big squad for that reason. But they can skirmish over objectives well. Far more tanky than banshees wih 6 total OC. I'm still sad about banshees. Those still don't compare well to a troupe squad at 75. The troupe has plus 1 to wound without eldrad and if you want to make troupes better with a character a troupe master really really bumps the unit up. Banshees while they can go far wouldn't end up getting falcon support if they go too far through terrain. So they are only wounding key targets on 4 or 5. Banshees unsupported do not even kill 5 regular space marines on average over shooting abd melee.
Good that I got the new Striking Scorpions and a squad of Banshees+Jain Zar in the last weeks. xD But still missing Karandras phoenix lord, impossible to get.
@@WBConcilio not until now. U mean an Autarch mini and some left Striking Scorpions bits would do for a Karandras alternative? But I really like the old Karandras mini so I'm still looking from time to time on Ebay&co.
Vypers... no squadrons of them... no points decrease.. I don't agree with the aupport weapon being as strong as it was before. Range 24 really does make it niche.. its just way too expensive for me to ever use... agree with you about the shadow weaver... its a very sad loss to me. Used it all the time previously
Faster? Dude 😂. Jump them out of a boat, 3"+8"+6" advance (+1" with Avatar) then charge a minimum of 7"(+1" if close to Avatar and a fate dice of 6 that's a 8" charge). You can guarantee up to a 26" charge on a charge roll of a 1 for the non-fated dice....
@@WBConcilio i mean, yeah. But troupe can be joined by visarch or yvraine. Giving awesome stuff. Unlike Jain zar. 5 banshees might be better then 5 Troupes thought. Ten men squad with character plays for Troupe imho
I am sorry but I have to disagree, Banshees are still terrible and points will not fix that. They simple have not the punch to get their job done. Yeah sure, if you invest 300 points in support units like eldrad or a falcon you can male them work, but that is not the way a good unit works.
The last eldar reviewer, but the one i look forward to most. Sir, you have the best information/opinions.
Thank you!!
The only Autarch I need, thank you for your generalship.
:)

Yeah, me too! I am really excited to start playing around with authentic Iybraesil theme lists in competitive play
@@WBConcilio That’s awesome! Jain zars heroic intervention is looking a bit more worth it!

Thanks for the break down. Concise and excellent as usual. 👍🤘
Great review as always, excited for my next game!
Great update Brent 😊 I agree I think these changes are good and help with some internal balance 😁 keep these great videos coming 👌
Thanks, Brent!
Excellent insight! thanks for putting this out, love to listen to these while painting and building my elves.

There are plenty of winning Eldar lists that do not take D-Cannon. The best performing lists are cutting them and play MSU.
Would you run shees/scorps with their phoenix lords, or just as a 5 man (woman) throw away? Not sure about Jain Za...
I have tried to make Jane Zar work, and I can't get her there. The Visarch is better

Stoked for the banshees! I want to try to stick my banshees in a wave serpent with corsairs to give an extra scout move. Provided thats legal
I want to see the wraith lords drop a little, maybe 140
Def. Or at least make them hit on 3+
@@Night_Geist hitting on 3+ is more important imo and that only happens with the new Eldar codex sadly. Hitting on 4+ is so awful.

@@megamarkread I'm not even talking about 3+ wound models. They should be MEQ killers which they're not great at.

Banshees out of a falcon… genius. Same way I was using the Solitaire. But waaay cheaper
Yeah rerolls to wound is a big deal for that unit. It makes 5 hit like 10.
The wraithlord and wraithseer needs 3+ to hit. It's not ok like this. That's all. And the knight needs to cost les than 500 points.

Maybe because they took the time to nerf the shadow specters they won’t remove them with the other forge world stuff?
