      I find that the harder I try to be super super careful in that type of situation the more likely I am to fail. I remember when I tripped at the top of the stairs in October the last thing going through my mind was "hold onto that cup and plate really hard and dont trip" - I tripped and the plate and cup being held so firmly meant I went head first into the wall. I am going to stop listening to my inner warnings lol.

    This helped me quite well when I repaired a DS Lite I found at a local Tender Centre here. It was perfectly fine. But it did have a problem with the bottom screen and touch pad. I got replacement parts from eBay, and was able to place the components in there myself. And now, it works perfectly!😄

    Thank you very much for posting this video - it made locating all the screws so much easier, and the bits about the ribbon cable releases were awesome. I have a tough time seeing everything that small so it was a lot easier to get to. When I originally bought my NDSL it had this exact same symptom. Could not recalibrate the thing, but it worked well enough for what I needed at the time (kanji dictionary) and it was sold out everywhere so I never bothered replacing it. FWIW I purchased in Japan before USA release, not sure if anyone else having the same problem was from the same batch. I have been living with this problem for almost 17 years!! Finally looked up a digitizer replacement... $5 shipped. Argh!! I should have done this ages ago. Thank you again for the great video :)

    The Nintendo DS is one of the most rage inducing handheld consoles i have worked on. The small plastic clip for the touch screen snapped on a number of occasions and is impossible to fix ( a few spare boards in the parts bin ) . Also the top screen removal is another difficult practise, that will sometimes give a different heat signature on light mainly blue once swapped out. Good job working on this! you really have patience since i would have bought another DS that had a working bottom screen and transferred it over. Nintendo done everyone a favour when designing the 3DS XL as their so much easier to work on. Thumbs UP !

    I've got a Nintendo DS Lite with no working touch screen after I opened and cleaned. The fact is that the "protector" screen is a little damaged, maybe I should change it. Before I opened it only worked on the bottom right side, just in a little part so i thought it need a clean, I was very gentle with everything but in the end it was no working. I will try to replace the protector screen or maybe also my touch screen is faulty, who knows. Thanks by the way, very helpful!

    Interesting failure, i have seen plenty of loose or broken hinges, Fuse failures are quite common iirc but usually if a touch element is not working right is because it has been abused to death, yours looked pretty nice, maybe the resistive material they use to register the press changes properties as it ages?

  • @FaSMaN
    @FaSMaN 5 років тому +4

    Just an observation, you don't need to remove what you called the "protector" just the bezel, the new touch screen already has that layer , to align the bezel, it's easier to reassemble the NDS completely without it, then apply it with the case on all ready from the top. Hope that helps with the next one :)

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  5 років тому +2

    Hi, I’m wondering do you know how to reattach the tiny flap at 8:19? Mine came off while disconnecting it

    • @GadgetUK164
      @GadgetUK164  2 роки тому +1

      If the plastic fittings have broken, you may need to replace the connector (using hot air and a new connector - difficult). It's hard to describe how to reconnect it, what you need to do is use high magnification so you can see the socket and the flap, and work out visually how it reconnects.

    • @GadgetUK164

      @@reversebruce7937 hi I had this exact problem a while ago when I changed my ds lite shell if it doesn't charge I recommend taking it apart and looking under the charging port it should have a little white square with em10 written beside it with a small charging coil chip on the inside if you noticed its cracked damaged or missing then there's your problem if that's the case there very hard to find but I found mine on ebay from a seller called zedlabz it arrived very quick and worked great the only thing is you need a soldering iron ifixit has a repair guide online also by not turning on if the screens flash for a millisecond then turns off it means you either tore the top or bottom screen ribbon cable which means you will have to buy a new screen that happened to me and after that I replaced the screen and em10 chip and its working perfectly other than the touch screen which I'm waiting to receive from eBay and its fully restored hope this helps
