    Thank you. I wonder if the Win or Alt+Tab keys are correctly redirected to the remote?

    Windows365 could be a huge benefit to Mac users at work...there are times that Excel on Mac just can't do the same things that Excel on Windows can do, it might be something that only needs to run a couple of times a year. Having a virtual Windows PC is a great solution!

    Thankyou, now I'm not only confident about using my Chromebook but I'm pretty sure that a couple of other things will be possible. I'd like to be able to use my Chromebook's USI pen in some Windows drawing software, the maths functions in Onenote and then the big one, a USI pen interface in my favourite CAD software which is Fusion 360. No, I don't expect you to explore all of that however, you probably already have a sense for my question; those Azure Virtual Machines would be just as likely to work on a Chromebook wouldn't they? If you have the inclination Frank, I'd be very keen to get your take on the Spot VM's through Azure. I reckon I'd be satisfied with two to three hours a day every other weekday which could work out quite cheaply.

      That is very interesting! I don’t have a pen-based Chromebook- so I can’t test it, but it would be interesting to experiment with the scenario you mention above. At least to try it and see if it is functional.
      I have a video on Azure VMs (it’s titled: “Don’t buy a new PC - use an Azure VM instead”) and you’ve given me an excellent idea for a test. The pen.
      I’m going to try pen input from my surface and iPad to see how/if it works on both an Azure VM and Windows365.

      @@LearningandTechnology Great! I'm pretty sure the Surface and iPad pens do work on Windows 365, however it would be good to catch up on some of the UA-camrs who have done these tests already, I think there are levels of functionality and I wonder what these depend on. (Things like pressure and tilt and access to context menus.)
      Just for interest, this nice video of an Autodesk employee uses $6000 worth of Wacom gear for Fusion 360 CAD but I'd be surprised if it couldn't be done with less fancy gear.

      Yes, you can install the Microsoft RDP Android app on any recent Chromebook and get it connect to an Azure VM. I tried this on an older Celeron model and performance was a bit slow but with better hardware I'm sure it would be fine.

    Great intro! Does the mic and speakers work in W365, say, running Microsoft Teams?

      They do, but in my testing the camera didn’t work as well with Teams. Teams web might be a better solution on the Chromebook

      @@issiewizzie It’s a bit much at the moment if you are paying yourself though. Or “maybe” not… it’s hard to say. I think if you use it a lot then the $40 a month over a semester is “okay” - hopefully as the service matures there will be some educational pricing - that would be ideal.

    YASSSSS FRANK! However I do think the cost of $40 is a bit high for that. HOWEVER....they also changed the licensing agreement for Adobe...we used to be able to just buy one single Adobe School package, now we need to buy it for EVERY FREEEEEKING STUDENT. We just can't afford to do that.

    • @LearningandTechnology
      @LearningandTechnology  3 роки тому +1

      Yikes. That’s a huge obstacle to using those tools for teaching/learning. I always struggle with the balance between functional specifications and cost. I have some videos I’m working on with a Surface Pro 7 and an iPad Pro MX - $4K and $2K pieces of hardware! Not exactly budget-friendly and, hence, not particularly inclusive.
      I am really hoping Microsoft does something educational with Windows365, but at the moment I believe they may actually be overwhelmed with the response to the service.
