I own this sander for about 16 years. the first owner passed away and another hobbyist was going to sell me but he changed his mind. He passed away a couple years later and I got it from his wife through a friend of mine. It's really a nice sander to work with.
Thank you for the video and I'm looking forward to the future that you bring back the soul to continue working and thank you for sharing with us with advice. Good luck and thank you!! Greetings from Sarajevo, state Bosnia and Herzegovina
I run a painting company with my dad I’ve invested heavily into festool rotexs they have been awesome work hard with a lot of run time I can’t fault them other than upfront costs. But the old man still has some old Makitas like these they don’t die.
Love the channel, love the video, Dean. I see you brought the all-purpose carry with you rag for cleaning and holding hot bits of metal. No need to use a real rag when your track suit top is with you at all times, ready to be used instantly. Thank you for sharing a small part of your work day with us. One last observation, for a small electric tool is has alot of bearings in it.
Loved it, Hat's off to ya for saving this relic from the landfill. They just don't make them like they used to anymore. Ain't it funny how i've never seen a sander like this being repaired from the other brands after 30+ years of service ?
Another one of your great tutorials, I appreciate your generosity in parting with your knowledge and experience to your subscribers, (glad you cleaned out your tea cup I was getting worried for you) take care
I don't know if I missed part of the video where you talked about the base plate and replacing it and cost but not sure why it wasn't replaced so that you get a smooth flat sanding surface.
Customer didn't mention anything about the base plate so he didn't touch it it wasn't the problem that put tool into repair shop. No mention of actual price either. Obviously the multiple seized bearings were the reason tool was there not the base
The grooves on the belt align with the grooves on the pulleys. Maybe they use one belt for multiple types of belt drives? But yes, it looks off at first.
Wiha makes great tools but those pliers are better Gedore or Knipex.Gedore comes with plastic inserts. Also Knipex sells plastic inserts for cobra’s separately.

@@alnov2722 I didn't want to steer you into getting a DeWalt but I've been using them for decades so I'm kinda partial to them. Flexvolt tools are very powerful and that's a good choice if powerful is what you're looking for. TTC gas shown that these 60v tools actually are more powerful than a regular 15A\110V tool is, they have more available stored energy than a plug in model - very power dense battery platform and great choice if that's what you need.👍🏻🛠️🔌🔋⚡
@@tdotw77 yes sir, thank you. My top concern was longevity. I will be off grid using the mixer for 5 minute jobs every hour for about six hours a day for the upcoming spring and summer. A failure would be so frustrating. 😁
I do love these old machine videos. although i have to say, after 30 years i would have changed the needle bearing as well. whats that 10 euros extra? anyways, keep up the good work.

It is bent, he even said it was quite bent but it's not the issue it was dropped off for & can't just spend others money w\out permission. Seized bearings were the problem not a lil bend in an aluminum plate
I don't think he is a clown. I think he is the first real hope of fixing a broken system. And not just in the US. Politics had become so complicated, noone can change or fix anything. Trump I hope is going to run it like a business. He is taking out the BS and getting things done.
More golden oldies!!! Great to see these older tools given new lives. Thank you.

Someone please buy this man an oven mitt! Love the videos. Thanks for sharing them with us.
He wouldn't use it! Ain't no time for that! You don't think he has gloves right there in that shop, he just don't like to waste any time!😅
Satisfying to get to the part where you turn it on,and it doesn’t blow up,but runs like new again. Good stuff!
Absolute ASMR for the working tradesman!

A good save Dean Thanks
Bring another oldie back to work, nice job Dean

Good catch on the clamp I thought I’d just missed you tightening it up. Loving the content FairPlay Dean
I have one. Really like it, but after 5 min of use, you can't feel your hands anymore 😂
that was absolutely brilliant

22:40 it’s strange to see the teeth of the belt facing outwards am I missing something?
The grooves on the belt align with the grooves on the pulleys. Maybe they use one belt for multiple types of belt drives? But yes, it looks off at first.
It's not a timing belt. It's a very pully belt. The vs are on the inside. The teeth on the outside are nothing
@ ah now I understand but it does look confusing?
its normal, its not a timing belt, even the AC or water pump belt in a car doesnt have teeth.
Hello my frien

Thanks Dean. Could you put that base under the press to straighten it or would it crack it?
He could straighten it out by hand probably but customer didn't drop the tool off for a bent base but it was a seized bearings causing it to not work!
👌
Yo you forgot to tighten the second strap 22:40
My apologies! You found it! Well done love your videos!!

I doubt many of the tools from now will be running in 30 years😂
Best look for something simpler to repair as you are making one hell of a pig's ear of this one!
