Thanks so much for helping me out with this sort of challenges to improve my listening skill under British and Australian accent, which I am no so familiar with. The last explanation about pronunciation (T removals), indeed closes the understanding of these nuances.

My prononciation improved dramatically with your lessons 😃, I'm living in the UK for ten years but still speaking with slightly foreign accent ( that's what people say to me). When I tried American accent it was very easy, but I don't like to speak with an American accent.

That's the reason for why I wanted to come to train the British accent. First, it's more beautiful, but also, once the British one is dominated, I will do the American very easy (indeed, I already do the American accent).

Much needed lesson this one was Lucy, absolutely enlightening one though I will say, I've been practicing transcription and comprehension exercises regularly for a number of years now so I consider myself quite accustomed to the various tasks presented here.

I got over the intermediate level on my own by listening to lots of videos like this. My aim is leveling up everyday. Natives split up sounds climate the last letter aren't pronounced at all. 🙏🙂🙏

I got almost all correct and it's just because of you and some other wonderful UA-cam teachers I got.
That said, Last year I wrote IELTS academic test and I got 8 in listening section and overall score went up to 7.

The glottal stop at 14:45 is very important because I actually thought you said, 'Do they like to go out and party?' But again, pronouncing every single T is really hard and it breaks the natural flow of speaking.

As an excercise I watch videos, listen to podcasts, news etc at double speed. At the beginning it is shocking but later I get accustomed and real everyday speakers seem to speak very slowly. Another thing I learn whole sentences and pieces of texts saying them aloud. It also helps with better understanding of fast speech😊😊
This is great. As a native English speaker, this will certainly help many learners. I do have a question Lucy - do you know anyone else that does the same thing you do for other languages?

You should enforce your writing, to get a higher score. I guess you usually communicate in a verbal form, but maybe you have a weakness in the grammar. That's exactly the opposite with me, I need to reinforce my listening skills.

Greetings from Brazil. That was quite a good exercise to practice my skills and see how I am now. It has been a couple of years since I finished my English course and here in Brazil we don't have many people interested in practice English on a daily basis, so I thought my listening skills could be a little rusty. It was totaly the opposite. They're sharp!! haha. I missed only two words from all the exercises. In the first one I included a "not" before the sun and in the last one I missed "scene" after party. All the comprehension and fill in the gaps were done completely right.

I have always done well on listening tests such as TOEFL and IELTS. However, since coming to the UK I'm struggling to understand British accents especially when people speak very fast. Sometimes, I felt really stupid for not getting what was being said to me and had to ask the person to repeat.

Thank you, this exercise made be more confident about my speech recognition skills (I've got everything right without pausing and without making notes). I used to experience great problems with speech recognition even in my native language (and sometimes still do, especially if there is noise/music around).

Lucy actually i couldn't speak english before when it was like july of previous year but when it comes to 2022 july i speak in english just like a native speaker.so i'm very very thankfull to you thousand and million times.
