I think some of these guys jumped ship a bit soon but I can understand why. When MLF announced what they were doing with the Tackle Warehouse tour I think some of these guys probably regretted their decision but then again that announcement came way late in the season and these guys done jumped ship. The opens are known as the gauntlet in fishing and for good reason, they are extremely tough. The Opens also don't pay well and there is no championship so it's really a tough decision to go there. Now with the added money and a championship I think the Tackle Warehouse Tour will be more attractive to those aspiring to go pro. On another note I really like the NPFL format and what they have going on over there, and I think it is something some of these anglers need to look at, but until the NPFL gets more recognized the sponsor dollars may not follow the angler or at best may decrease some. No doubt 2025 will be an interesting year.
Cliff might not make the elite series but he make one of the best sleeper crank baits on the market and one heck of a nice guy to talk to would like to see him back in the elites
Pro fishing is a lot of work for little money. The most successful pro anglers find that the tournament portion of their business is largely counterproductive. I turned down my Elite Invitation because I realized that fishing is a lot better hobby than a business.
I know Cliff Pace has a custom lure business, Focusing mainly on balsa baits. I saw a video release he did on FB of him custom painting some of the crankbaits. There are two maybe 3 companies he is part of.
Pumped to see Dakota and Cody moving to the Elites. Both great guys, I’ve always liked the way Cody fishes and actually have one of his boats that has brought wins for me also. Hawk has been great out West. I think he has a great shot at any of the WON Bass tournaments for a good payout. Next year I believe trimming some of the old guys out will truly benefit the Elites getting them closer to a roster of Hammers.
Question regarding anglers who failed to qualify for BPT 2025. Now that Tackle Warehouse Invitationals has announced their 2025 schedule, can those anglers who were dropped from BPT and have yet make up their mind about where to fish in 2025 look over the schedule locations and use that as a determining factor as to whether or not they want to fish the Tackle Warehouse Tour? I know MLF has rules about prior knowledge, etc.
What can I say other than pro's come and go over the years. You mentioned a lot of pro's that were great in the day and as years go by so does their hunger to be competitive. Take me for instance, I no longer have the same hunger and competitive drive like I use to. I still like fishing tournaments, but do I put in the time on the water like I use to, the answer is no.
I think once Butler gets a year to settle into the EQ’s will eventually qualify for the elite’s. He qualified for the classic with his win on Logan Martin. Once he gets a taste of the classic next year it will motivate him to excel in the EQ’s.
Didn't see Ish Monroe on the list. When he left BPT he was on Matt's podcast saying he would fish the opens with only casting rods. Made a joke aboug Fariy Wands ( spinning rods ). Looks like another year withoug quaifying. Going to be interesting to see what BASS does after the BPT cut. Going to be a lot of name anglers lookng for a new home. Also see James Watson's star has dimmed after his loud exit from BPT.
Ish was couple years ago, and I was focusing on those from 2024. He needs some point to qualify. Watson is fishing the northern part of the Opens, but he did not do well in his first tournament. I don't know if he fished the second day or had issues. Thanks for the comment. Cheers!!
