I just want you to know that all of us are so proud of you for saving for baby and retirement. Most people don’t even save or prepare for either of those until it’s too late. No matter what you are putting into it. You can make a lot of money in a Roth IRA despite “how little” those people think you are saving. Anything is helpful. And most people aren’t fortunate enough to put anything in retirement. So you are doing great! Just ignore their comments.
I absolutely love seeing how your Baby and Retirement envelopes are adding up just from consistently adding small increments. I also love how you’re showing other low income people how it’s important to save for the future and can be done, regardless of income size. You’re killing it, Tara! I am flabbergasted that so many people would tell you that's not enough.... did they expect you to save enough to raise them for 18 years then put them through 4 years of university before you even got pregnant. You are an inspiration and I love that you are showing people that we all have the ability to save money regardless of our income level. I'm a 50 something and I am only just learning this. My kids are all grown and I wished I'd had the thought to save a few dollars before they came along. Good for you and keep it up. And regarding the retirement savings. I don't know your age, but I guess you have more than the 10 years I have before retirement and I've only been saving for retirement for a year. I think you've got this and obviously with your good habits and money savvy, when your income increases I'm sure you will increase those amounts - it's a process. Don't listen to any comments that have a negative spin... those people are just on here to bring others down to their level.

I think this a great idea. As for the baby one, you should do whatever you want. As long as you understand babies are expensive then you will be just fine.
I'm a low income budgeter. There are categories I have $3 regularly scheduled for, but sometimes I have to take them down to $1. I'm impressed that you do what you can with what you have. Congrats!

Honestly, based off my own preference... Baby stuff has increased so much. Including maternity. And if you have no insurance. I personally will make it more than $3/week. And lower the amount for gifts. Like do $15/week for gifts. So extra can go towards baby and gas, or whatever (gas is rising and i dont know how you can with $15/week. Unless you live near work.) You'll be happy you did. My husband and I are not focusing on gifts and focusing on paying our home off. People understand. And if they dont thats on them. Just a few suggestions, but to each their own. Im just glad to see someone with a bunch of ideas. (And at first i thought home was for buying a home, or house repairs. But you said house decor.)

Don't let the low income get to you. I'm struggling right now so I put 20$ per month in my savings. Is it big? Hell no. But it's the HABIT that counts, when I'll have more money, I'll put more because the habit will already be there! Sending you money vibes girl!
Using the baby category to get use to saving for kids is a great idea! Its amazing how quickly it adds up. Maybe for 2022 you increase it from $3 to $4, because what's another dollar right? (And if I recall you use to only put $2)

Mass credits for saving when you can..Yes by all means keep track of your savings.. and what you are saving for, but please put the "savings" into a CD Ladder..Myself, I have a 60 step CD Ladder with instruments as small as $100.00 to as much as $500.00 (in the longer terms) which you can reserve for the long term goals like having a child or retirement..The goals is to have the money working for you.. not you working for it..AND just as important not becoming a target for theft

I was putting back change, $1, $5, and sometimes $10 bills back when I found out I was pregnant with our third child and saved a lot of money for him. People need to stop hating!!!
