My Friend, This is an uncertain time, and your words, your expertise and your wisdom, offer us the hint of a new season, and the return of new life.. Saying "Thank you," seems so insignificant. Simply know, that you, and the inspiration you offer, are for especially today, a blessing.
Early Sunday morning watching this lovely beautiful tour. Would love to think that one day I might be able to visit your nursery in the future. Thank you for sharing your beautiful trees Peter, stay safe 😊
Thank you Mr. Chan. My morning tea and bonsai. Because of you, I have found the determination and begun my journey to pursue a lifetime in bonsai. I am forever changed, and blessed because of you Sir. The year you started Herons, I was just born on the other side of the world. I hope there are more enthusiasts being born today. Thank you for all of your incredible wisdom. I have always found it difficult to learn from teachers, as I have always had my own stubborn mind made up about things. Even if I never actually meet a bonsai master in my life, or have a chance to learn from one first-hand, I feel like I have spent the last few months with the best of them. The way you relay the information, and your positive outlook speaks to me. When I am doing bonsai, I hear your voice telling me to "make hard decisions", and how I will "not progress if I am not bold!" 😅 Best(only) teacher I've ever had. I would love to purchase bonsai from you, but being literally on the opposite side of the planet here in Colorado, USA, it doesn't seem too feasible. How do you purchase large bonsai from other countries? Other than what is rare or uniquely beautiful, how do you determine value on such things? I will have to sojourn in Britain once the world opens up again! Much love from The Rocky Mountains !
OMG this video places me in Azalea heaven, dangerously because I have an urge to g shopping now! Beautiful plants or what? I am so envious of Mr Chan's collection, to be able to gaze at them all day when they are in bloom, how blessed you must be!
So many beautiful flowering Azaleas 😱..i want one😇 but Wouldn't be able to decide which one tho🌹..want them all. Bravo Peter, can't wait for the next video.. stay safe to all and Cheers 😄.
Beautiful Satsuki Azalea. Love the large ones. Would love to have one. Only I don’t have sufficient space to display properly. Thank you, Mr. Chan for this video on these gorgeous trees.
I so much enjoy your videos Peter. I recently purchased a small Miyako-No-Hana azalea. I’m not finding too much information on it. Will definitely pick up a Satsuki as well.
Satsuki Azaleas are so charming. I need to do some research on the local climate, but I hope to get an outdoors tree like this for my balcony when I move.
That is my other favorite thing about Bonsai All of them are so unique and have such beautiful colors. Those flowers are so beautiful, you should get a little bee hive for yourself. Honey is so good. We have a giant 40 year old Plum tree on our farm and next spring we are going to put a beehive out there.
i really love the hino crimson dwarf azalea that i have in my yard i really need to take cuttings off of it to grow for bonsai most likely going to air layer a larger branch to get a kick start on a great tree.
Question: I ran in to an issue last Autumn (early) - even late Summer - where scale infested two of my trees. The damage they caused was swift and I tried (and failed) to treat the scale with organic/natural remedies (which may have worked had they not been so robust already). I ended up using a systematic pesticide instead (not organic...at all) and it did the trick. It stopped the bugs in their tracks but it left dieback in some places and overall weakened the trees. It is now July in the US and my trees are outside. I water them multiple times a day because in Colorado is quite hot but also very arid (highland environment). The trees are being fed a fair bit and I also augment they watering with acidifying solutions as my water tends to be alkaline. To my question, though: with some areas of my trees damaged and others not, the rate at which the non-damaged areas have grow is significant and my concern is that there is an imbalance to the trees. Is it appropriate to prune back, even hard in some cases, to help balance the energy? The damaged areas do show some signs of life. I wanted to use this season as a chance to get both trees robust and strong and it seems like pruning might contradict that effort... but perhaps pruning will further invigorate? I will say this, I did prune one of the trees as the top was so overwhelmingly strong. I'm not sure if it did any good or not. I'll continue to feed them well, though, and will still use organic methods whenever possible but well before any infestation!
Exquisite Trees, amazing almost running water colors in the white+pink! So unusual! Here in Southwest Florida standard azaleas don't grow with any success! You mentioned rainy season, do these grow in a sub-tropical zone? Thank You for your expert teaching's! And taking the time to share your valuable knowledge+ time! Best health +happiness! Rick Hanson Port Charlotte, Florida U.S.A.🙏
My sister gave me piece of her Beautiful Lilac tree. And I put it in some soil and I watered. It. Well and checked it the next day and it is doing well
i remember the story of mr. fujikawa's nursery in osaka that started about 1960. back then normal azaleas were about 10-50 yen and satsuki azaleas were like 3000-7000 yen (which is a huge amount of money back in the day). so he bought the best one for 7000 yen and sold it for 24000 yen. and that's how one of the best bonsai nurseries in japan started :)
I have one on my garden flower bed (just moved it from the original pot). It seems not happy in there. Im thinking to move it back to pot and train and grow as bonsai. Please advise what to do to make it thrive or regrow on old trunk after hard pruned, like your all satsuki azalea in video.. Pleasessssssse. Thank you so much
Beautiful! My Satsuki Azalea needs to be repotted as it's rootbound. (it came to me that way) Now I'm concerned as it's mid August...advice is appreciated!
I am havinga lot of issues with my azalea. The leaf color has faded this year to more of a golden green. I cut back the water and moved them to shade. They are growing nicely but I have not had flowers for the last 4-5 years. I am in Wisconsin USA. So our winters are very harsh. I have no idea of the names but was told they would be winter hardy for my area. They have done well making it through winter by putting them under cover. I just feel they are slowly dying What fertilizer do you use for your azaleas?
I just bought one i live in ny. Only advice i can give is mine is planted in kanuma soil mixed with sphagnum moss. Mostly kanuma so maybe 80-20. Also i keep it outside all the time. Mine just flowered last 2 weeks. I had to pull all the buds and not let it flower because it was imported and for the health of the roots i was told not to let it flower . I have seen videos that said one year repot next year dont let it flower next year let it flower.so flower every 3 years but i may not do that.also check for aphids on the tree my other had alot of them . But im sure they can flower every year.and for the fertilizer i have been using biogold . I have been told it is very good. I put them in lil baskets around the tree
Im waiting on a satzuki azalea to come in the mail today. Its just a cheap little 30 dollar one in a bonsai pot from Amazon. I think I might get another one.
Beautiful, weeds and all. (You make me feel less guilty. ;) Do the branches that produce the different colored flowers do so every year or does it vary? Thank you for sharing. So soothing to watch.
Beautiful video Peter, thank you for sharing this. I really love azaleas, but I'm having some issues with water. What kind of water do you use for your azaleas? Some told me not to use tap water, that is better to use treated water (reverse osmosis) like in hydroponics
Good afternoon, my question Subject Satsuki can we grow them in Middle East, very hot in summer temperature of up to 50°C and Mild temperature in the winter maximum of 20°C
The temp I mentioned was in the plastic growing tunnel during the summer. In winter the temp in Japan goes below freezing. So Middle East would be very difficult to grow this plant
I love your videos, and I'm wondering if you've ever taken a Mimosa and made it a bonsai? These are one of my favorites, but to grow full size, they don't live that long and create a mess in the yard with dropped seeds. To have it as a bonsai would be perfect!
In 1986, I graduated with a B.S. in horticulture. Managed a large retail nursery, then managed a 14-house commercial range before teaching post-secondary horticulture. I'm now 64, retired and living in the southern U.S.. I have a modest income to sustain myself. Would you, please, consider accepting me as a volunteer to assist you with your work? You would receive free help and I would receive a priceless education.
Hello Peter, I have a Texas Cedar Elm tree and some of the thick, flaky bark near the base of the trunk has fallen off as a result of algae growth. The underlying wood is healthy and undamaged. I'd like to start the process of regenerating this bark. Is there any way to speed up this process? Does the lost bark have any chance of regrowing, or will those areas of the trunk remain smooth permanently? Thanks!
The water supply in the area of Peter's nursery in slightly hard, so the tap water is OK to use. I live a few miles away where the water is very hard (it's drawn from a chalk aquifer) and so only use rainwater on my azaleas
PETER, dont worry about the weeds, i weed my bonsai and turn around and it dont look like i evaen started yet to weed,, how do you grow such big trunks on them SATSUKI AZALEAs? thank you for another beautiful tour
How is it that you would regrow an apex on an azalea ? Would you cut the top of the trunk by the old apex and wire a branch near the top to become the new apex ? Or will the trunk sprout a new branch near the top ? What is your preferred approach ??? By the way, very beautiful trees.
Peter, I’m curious, how do you get satsukis to grow upwardly instead of the typical inverse triangle shaped shrub that one buys usually as a commercial satsuki from a nursery? Is this all just selective pruning? Thanks!
Would love to learn to do Bonzai. I love to trim my garden plants in my yard and spend a ton of time doing soo. Can you provide a good way to start learning and where is a good place to get seedlings or plant that I can learn with? Would need to be a online resource, because I live in the USA in North Carolina in the mountains.
Buy a small Chinese elm from an online nursery. There cheap and very easy to raise, great for beginners to learn pruning and training, they are good in most climates. You will fall in love with it. Then your journey has begun.
This is real therapy to me. Amazing multiple flowers on one tree.
2:00a.m. here, but I’m still going to watch this before bed!
same here 🇿🇦♥️
Beautiful. Happy to excuse the weeds. The stories are endearing. Thank you.

Bless you - If I have been a help then I feel very privileged that I can do this little service for people like you.
Beautiful trees Peter! Always enjoy your nursery tours and stories. Can't have a bad day listening to your stories and expertise!
Early Sunday morning watching this lovely beautiful tour. Would love to think that one day I might be able to visit your nursery in the future. Thank you for sharing your beautiful trees Peter, stay safe 😊

I’ll be watching this video again and again. Thank you so much for the pleasure x
Part 27 of breakfast with Peter and here is my nemesis, time to learn more from the Master.
Stay safe
Stay well
Thank You for that great Video showing the beautyful satsukis 👍👍👍
I thoroughly indulged in that video Peter. What a splendour of colours.
OMG this video places me in Azalea heaven, dangerously because I have an urge to g shopping now! Beautiful plants or what? I am so envious of Mr Chan's collection, to be able to gaze at them all day when they are in bloom, how blessed you must be!
Gorgeous!!! You made my Sunday beautiful! Thank you so much for sharing your time.
absolutely incredible! the colors are just amazing
My father used to grow a lot of Satsuki. I enjoyed your video beyond time and space. Thank you from Japan.
Beautiful flowers but out of proportion in one way. The trees are beautiful in their own right before and after flowering.
I LOVE THESUSUKI AZALEAS , THANK YOU FOR THE SHOWING, BEAUTIFUL WILL WATCH AGAIN AND AGAIN !
Oh my gosh! These trees are marvelous!!! Great work, Peter 👏🏼
Have one word BEAUTIFUL
Very beautiful, thanks for sharing!
I'm very proud to have one of your satsuki azaleas. It is truly beautiful Thanks Peter.
When did you buy that?
So many beautiful flowering Azaleas 😱..i want one😇 but Wouldn't be able to decide which one tho🌹..want them all. Bravo Peter, can't wait for the next video.. stay safe to all and Cheers 😄.

Wonderful trees!! Thank you Peter!!!
Last year we visited japan at the right time. In Ueno park they had an azalea 🌺 Bansai contest. So beautiful

Beautiful!! Thank you for sharing.
So beautiful.
Absolutely beautiful, I only wish that I could afford them, still you never know birthdays come along.
Beautiful trees.
I have two less impressive ones, but enjoy them nonetheless
Thanks for the tour!
I so much enjoy your videos Peter. I recently purchased a small Miyako-No-Hana azalea. I’m not finding too much information on it. Will definitely pick up a Satsuki as well.

We enjoyed your nursery yesterday Peter, sorry we never got to see you but enjoyed the day wed18th May 22
So nice.......
Amazing! Thank you for the video.
I always ♥️ yours post and enjoyed urs tours, stay safe n God bless you sir, 🙏
They are similar in appearance to rhododendrons that I used to see in many areas throughout western Washington. Really pretty, thank you for sharing.
It is a Rhododendron
beautiful Peter
wow your pine trees are EPIC i hope one day you can show use videos on them and how to look after the BIG ONES
I remember seeing that split trunk maple when I was a lad!!!!
Love your trees
Thank you Mr. Chan.
That is my other favorite thing about Bonsai

What a treat to my eyes.

Is it possible to grow Satsuki in North Eastern part of India?
I just Love them. They are beautiful.
Omg I can spend my whole life there
I hope to have some Satsuki Azaleas like yours someday. Just to beautiful to not have
12:18 I believe it's 如峰の華 _nyohou no hana,_ the flower of Nyohô.
Nyohô seems to be a cultivar of strawberries.
Thank you for translating
21:38 ....wow!
80 years

You have given me the azalea bug.
Beautiful! My Satsuki Azalea needs to be repotted as it's rootbound. (it came to me that way) Now I'm concerned as it's mid August...advice is appreciated!
Невероятное благородство и красота! Спасибо, что Вы есть.
And now I feel the urge to get satsuki.
Seems impossible to find nursery plants online other than bonsai mature specimens
Beautiful trees .😊 Love them.thanks Peter. What's the difference between normal azalea and Satsuki? How can you tell . ?
Satsuki are hybridized species and it flower after may. Normal azaleas flower after February
That drought Peter spoke of continues through today, July 12, 2020. Will keep watching his weather until it rains.
I keep hoping they get rain too
Climate change. Winter this year is going to be bad

Symphony in Satsuki rose!
Beautiful, weeds and all. (You make me feel less guilty. ;) Do the branches that produce the different colored flowers do so every year or does it vary? Thank you for sharing. So soothing to watch.
I haven't researched this but I think it does produce the same coloured flowers on the same branch.
I tagged the red flowering branches on my mainly white azaleas last year. This year they were red again
Beautiful video Peter, thank you for sharing this. I really love azaleas, but I'm having some issues with water. What kind of water do you use for your azaleas? Some told me not to use tap water, that is better to use treated water (reverse osmosis) like in hydroponics

Which Mimosa ? there are so many species and varieties
@@peterchan3100
I believe the ones we see here on the east coast of the U.S. is generally the Rubra variety.
I hope you visit north east India... It has got massive forest. I started doing bonsai with indigenous trees. I'm sure you will like the rareness
I was going to visit Bhutan this year but the lockdown spoilt my plans

May be for a brief spell next Summer if the Covid is over.
Great, best wishes from Germany Rathenow
Do you grow Sago Palms too?
Awesome huge satsuki! ✨✨
Do you mean the Cycads?
Beautiful Satsuki’s. One question. Why do you keep some in the tunnels and others out in direct sun?
The ones in the shade tunnel were left there during the winter and I didn't get a chance to bring them out into the open. Simple as that.
At 6:37 there is a flower that is perfectly split by pink and white. Nature is amazing.
How did you do to make many colors flowers in one tree?
Very graceful! Is it necessary to use Kanuma or Kiryu for Azaleas?
It is best to use Kanuma.
Thanks!
I am not familiar with this species but bark usually takes time to form and recreating it will take a very long time I am sure
They are beautiful trees. How do you water them? I've read, that azaleas don't tolerate hard water.
I only use tap water which may be hard water - not sure
In the lowlands it is probably hard. Thank you.
Well, he said in the video the big specimens are imported from Japan and are very old.
such a beautiful trees ...any gardenia bonsai?
How is it that you would regrow an apex on an azalea ? Would you cut the top of the trunk by the old apex and wire a branch near the top to become the new apex ? Or will the trunk sprout a new branch near the top ? What is your preferred approach ??? By the way, very beautiful trees.
Peter, I’m curious, how do you get satsukis to grow upwardly instead of the typical inverse triangle shaped shrub that one buys usually as a commercial satsuki from a nursery? Is this all just selective pruning? Thanks!
Hi, what period do you suggest for repotting in italy? The most part do that after the flowering
Would love to learn to do Bonzai. I love to trim my garden plants in my yard and spend a ton of time doing soo. look up Triangle Bonsai Society in the Carolinas.
