I would appreciate some advice. My wife and I are traveling to Switzerland in September 2023. We will be on a guided bus/train tour for eight nights beginning and ending in Zurich. After that, we want to take a train to the Berner Oberland region, staying five nights in Wengen. We will not need passes to travel to any other region on our own other than the Berner Oberland region. We will see the rest of Switzerland on the guided tour. I need some advice please on whether we should get from Zurich to Wengen (through Interlaken?) using the Half Fare Pass AND Top of Europe Pass or Half Fare Pass AND Berner Oberland Pass. We want to see Jungfraujoch, Schilthorn, Grindelwald, Gimmelwald, Murren, Lauterbrunnen and perhaps go on the Interlaken lakes. Thank you.

Hi Lex and Louis, thanks for doing these videos, they have been a great help for planning a trip in May.
I have a question, I have 2 nights in Lucerne, 3 in Interlaken and 1 in Zermatt booked so far and could do another night. Would 2 nights in Zermatt be recommended or would you recommend Bern or somewhere else in west Switzerland. Might fly out of Geneva or Basel rather than Zurich. Mountain scenery would definitely be top of the list for things to see.

Love, love, love your videos. Have been watching y’all for the past year when one of your videos popped up on my feed. Very helpful, and you guys are just lovely folks. Question: My husband and I (both seniors) will be using Eurail for our trains between cities and between Switzerland, Austria and Italy in August/September 2024. Our home base in Switzerland is most likely going to be primarily Interlaken (most likely Wilderswil). I know Interlaken has a card for folks who are staying there that will allow us to access the buses and museums, etc., which will help us get around. We will most likely have a few days trips to places like Bern, Lucerne, Lausanne. To supplement and allow us to gain access to gondolas and cogwheel trains, etc., which other pass would you recommend we obtain to help reduce our overall costs and allow us as much “ticketless” freedom as possible? We will be in the region for 7 days.

To travel in Switzerland, the Swiss Travel Pass is preferable, which is valid on practically all or almost all railway lines, steamships, Postbuses, funiculars, etc. as well as on certain routes abroad such as, for example, the Italian section of the magnificent international narrow-gauge railway Domodossola - Locarno, the border sections Iselle transit - Domodossola, Pino transit - Luino as well as on the BERNINA EXPRESS summer bus that connects Lugano with Tirano and vice versa across Italy

From the moment you travel from a Europeanen home country to switserland and back you are already cheaper of with Interrail (= eurail) A return ticket from Belgium - Germany- Switserland or Belgium France Switserland is often more than €400 so that s why i never buy swiss pass. Good that some places offer guest passes for the local transport . Saas fee , Appenzell , unter engadin, Lucerne , Laveau ,….

There are a lot of places in Switzerland which can only be reached by bus. Eg the the very important mountain resorts of Saas Fee, Adelboden, Leukerbad, Lenzerheide and Flims. (I could go on for a very long time....) That fact, and the fact that the boats on all the main lakes are included, are COMPELLING REASONS to buy a Swiss Travel Pass. Put another way, the coverage of Eurorail pas and Interrail is inadequate.

Eurail was a nightmare for me. I am HANDICAPPED traveling alone. No one at any train station could help me with my issues. I started out ok but fell apart when I could not get the QR code for the individual tickets to generate. There is no one to call for help. No one in the train stations would help me.Unable to use the last two months of the pass. Forced to fly home at my expense from Poland on my tab. Major unexpected expense in the middle of my once in a lifetime vacation. Do not use Eurail. You maybe sorry like I was.

I will never buy Eurail pass again. Because:
    1. You cannot select seats if you use their pass. System will randomly allocate seats. Four of us were allocated in different places.
    2. If you buy pass from them the actual rail companies will deny to help you.
    3. Their refund policy is not customer friendly. All most 100% sure, No Refund.
    4. No phone no. to discuss your problems.
    5. For any issue, their standard response " we are just intermediary, cannot help you. We have no control over rail companies". It's actually in their web page.
    6. If you plan ahead you can get much better service form the rail companies directly almost at the same price.
    7. Eurail pass eventually costs more or same because in most important routes you will have to pay for seat reservation additionally.

I am intending to visit Switzerland and Italy (Milan, Cinque Terre) in October. I am considering to purchase Swiss Travel Pass for the first 6 days of the trip where i will be staying in Zurich, Lucerne and Lauterbrunnen. On Day 7, I am planning to travel to Milan by train (either from Lauterbrunnen or Interlaken). There onwards, i am planning to stay in Milan for 3 nights, and return to Zurich on Day 10 from Milan. I was contemplating to get the Eurail pass to cover my train travels between Day 7 to Day 10. Based on your comments and especially point 7, do you have any tips that you can share? Especially if there are any alternatives to Eurail pass like "Italy Travel Pass"? I have researched online but the only thing that appears is the Eurail Italy Pass (which would have the same problem).
