    I dunno of this reference will make any sense in UK but you have the Bob Ross, joy of paining vibe of bonsai instructors. (this is a compliment) I keep waiting for a happy little branch refrecne when whispering about branch movement😂

      Yes I appreciate that. I’ve watched him many times. He makes it look easy while teaching and inspiring people to have a go themselves.

      @@greenwoodbonsaistudio TGibs was right on. You talk to your trees in a kind, calm, reassuring voice and manner. It’s also similar to the way hairstylists sometimes talk to clients when they restate how a desired style can be created. The tree is personified and seems like an active participant in the process. You say things while pruning like: “IT (the tree) WILL be wanting to have this branch ‘removed’ [or] ‘cut back’ [or] ‘trimmed’”. Or perhaps when making wiring decisions you might say something like: “IT’LL be wanting to ‘come down here’ [or] ‘move over there to fill in…’” for some reason. You are bilingual; you understand and can translate the language of Bonsai into English, as well as communicate the thoughts, feelings and wishes of the tree to those of us who are just leaning the Bonsai alphabet. It’s very special and wonderful! THANK YOU!!!

    Great video Corin you seem to have made the small amount of foliage look fuller than it really is, the dead branch will look fantastic when finished and turned white with lime sulphur, I think a lot of people would have cut it off which would be a shame as it create unique character. Thanks for video Corin.

    Gees what a difference you made to this poor tree. I would've thrown it away...shows you what I know.
    Love how you used the leggy growth to create movement and pads.

  • @creightonfreeman8059
    @creightonfreeman8059 2 місяці тому

    Isn't the jin a little bit overbearing? Are you counting on the new growth to counter balance it or why did you not choose to shorten it a bit and just leave a smaller jin?

    • @greenwoodbonsaistudio
      @greenwoodbonsaistudio  2 місяці тому +1

      yes, your questions raises 3 things to consider 1) Yes, of course foliage with get fuller with more density, so will balance the Jin in future 2) I left it this lengthy because then it arches over and frames the tree and looks most dramatic, if it it was shorter you'd loose the movement. 3) Once new owner buys it they can reduce the Jin, thats their choice (although not mine when I styled it) however, if I cut it back it cannot easily be stuck back on !

    Great film, sorry, but you should wear eye protection when using any wire brush. In my trade, a friend got a sliver of brass in his eye ended up in Moorfields Eye hospital london to remove it.

  • @kliether33
    @kliether33 2 місяці тому

    Please wear some safety glasses with the wire brush!! I see patients all the time with little metal puncture injuries and it's not pretty. Those things fly out at 100mph.
