  • Great instrumental track from the 1969 debut album by Chicago, Chicago Transit Authority. Liberation was recorded entirely live, and takes up the whole 4th side of the original vinyl double-album release. Amazing guitar work by Terry Kath.
I do not own the copyright to the music or pictures, and thyey are presented as fair use.

It was also the theme from the local Seattle TV show called "How Come?" back in the mid 70's to early 80's on KING 5 (NBC) hosted by the late Al Wallace. It was a Sunday evening childrens telling kids how things operate and why they do it.

The passion, talent and artistry of this music is what hooked me on Chicago, and made them easily my favorite band of all time. There is nothing like the early years of this band....NOTHING.

Terry Kath was the heart and soul of Chicago. The band never really was the same after his untimely demise. They were all great musicians, but he gave them an edge. He was the only band member without formal music training.

Say what you want about Chicago how they changed their style after Terry past. But this is still one of the best jams in rock history.

I cant believe im just getting turned on to Terry! Im 53 years old and have rocked out to all the bests, and still do, i have been a fan of the type of mucis that features driving bluse rock licks/ rock licks! I guess Chicago was on the mellower? side of rock for me to really get into? But WOW This guy!!! Im gonna have a fun next couple of days checking my man out. He seems to be one of the VERY FEW who are conected with the flow the ether dancin with the muse, Lol Wherever/however It is done? THEM and IT become the SAME at that moment, and sometimes us mortals can see from the outside what is taking place! It is Amazing to see, there are a lot of very talented guitarist out there. BUT, Very few of these guys who are like this! Only 3 others i have in mind that i have witnessed, and until today i really thought i had seen them all. Im a happy man right now I have watched several videos of them today, and I just wanted to let all of you long time Terry and Chicago fans know That YES! YES! YES! Terry is right up there with whoever you name! A Truly FANTASTIC Talent

Still my favorite album of all time. Liberation in my mind is the greatest extended guitar solo of all time. No cliches, just an incredible guitar player cutting loose.

Great to dig this Classic up as America heads into another confusing election process. This certainly re-ignites the passion of 1968; the most eventful year I have ever witnessed.

Oh, yes bands like ACDC get the good rap in UA-cam, but the one time I see Rush, one of my favorite bands, they're ridiculed. I'll take it, only because Chicago is AWESOME!

To pigeon hole this group as a "pop, esay listening " is really insulting to this band. They were and even to this day still are and can outplay 99.99% of the so called rock bands in the industry. Terry was a guitar genius but listen to Danny on the drums he is mindblowing amazing. And even when the horn section was not playing they " played so many rythem section parts for the group. I'm telling you Zep, Rush, and so many other groups couldn't even carry Chicago's dirty underear. #1 Chicago

Terry Kath died by accidently shooting himself in the head with a 9mm pistol. He was
"pretending" to shoot himself, because he thought the gun was unloaded. Supposedly.
