Malayalam has always been the best film industry in India. It's only now North Indians have started to notice it.
True. Let them start by watching some of the 70s and 80s movies
Totally agree. After watching a lot on OTT, the rest of the country is noticing Malayalam movies.
@@theleakingpot those era movies difficult to connect with anyone outside Kerala....
Cant blame them they still belive Hindi is the national

Biggest thing- the audience.
When audience appreciate quality movies, it’s different thing.
When audience can’t appreciate and realise quality movies, we have Bollywood audience.

Besides the advent of OTT, Malayalam cinema distributors have embraced the world audience. They no longer rely on selling their film rights to other industries to recoup their expenses.
Kerala films don't do cheap political communal propaganda work... Hence impeccable quality❤❤
😂😂... Kerala has made more political movies than any other language. Sandesam is a classic one. A great Indian kitchen is a communal movie. Try making movie against Muslim culture..you will lose your ...... prithviraj has made political movie
Its not a propoganda bro... Its a sarcastically well made movie... Involvement of political scenarios doesnt make a film to be political, communal propoganda....

It's a reality that many Bollywood hit movies are actually remakes of Malayalam movies.
Here are some notable examples:
1. Drishyam (2015)- Remake of the Malayalam film "Drishyam" (2013).
2. Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Manichitrathazhu" (1993).
3. Bodyguard (2011) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Bodyguard" (2010).
4. Gardish (1993) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Kireedam" (1989).
5. Hera Pheri (2000) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Ramji Rao Speaking" (1989).
6. Billu (2009) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Kadha Parayumbol" (2007).
7. Dhamaal (2007) - Inspired by the Malayalam film "In Harihar Nagar" (1990).
8. Chup Chup Ke (2006) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Punjabi House" (1998).
9. Kyun Ki (2005) - Remake of the Malayalam film "Thalavattam" (1986).
10. Dhol (2007)- Remake of the Malayalam film "In Harihar Nagar" (1990).
Tbh Malayalam films have always been good even back in the 70s and 80s!!!!!they had movies in topics which were not even explored back then!!!so the main matter is just that the other people are just observing it and noticing it right now and its getting what it deserves🌸✨

Content wise Malayalam ,Bengali,Marathi movies were top notch since ages.Recently Malayalam has gone far away than other industries.

Start to embrace movies like Laapataa Ladies instead of Animal then more good films will come out
Absolutely, focus should on substance instead of style. Laapataa ladies is a good example.
Animal is an awesome movie..be it the music, cinematography, editing, action, acting performance, direction ..u name it
Stop encouraging tasteless movies like pathaan and jawan

Malayalam films have always been good. The main difference right now is the distribution across the globe (states outside Kerala, GCC & Europe) have been better explored. Also thanks to pandemic, people across the globe have been watching and now open to Malayalam content from theatres
Discussion on Malayalam cinema and no one from Kerala film industry to speak about the phenomenal content and writers. Sibi Malayil, Sathyan Andhikad, Sreenivasan .. Vineeth Sreenivasan and Prithviraj speak so well from the new generation. Am very happy to see Malayalam cinema is now being watched by pan India. Go back to see 70s, 80s and 90s films.... Amazing directors like Padmarajan, MT Vasudevan, Hariharan and so many more...
Why is so much of the discussion directed at money making?? Malayalam cinema has always been about the art and heart! I hope to God that imbecilic corporates don't now rush into Malayalam and spoil everything. 🙏
Exactly! Malayalam cinema has never been about making money. It's all about the love for the arts.
👍
No, they won't. It's all about audience attitude
If the corporate makes corporate films then the audience will surely remember them that content is king not the money.
Malayalam movie All time It was the best movie in Indian cinema
Though late, the country recognized the quality of Malayalam cinema
Pls pls pls for truths sake don’t entangle Malayalam cinema under Indian yoke
I wonder why this discussion is so superf8ficial?
Simple answer...most films are super hit.
Just accept the truth. ✌🏻
A topic about Malayalam cinema without proper research and without any “original” Malayalam movie representatives..

and each movie deserved the praise and response it received upon release and i regret not watching it in theatres..the production quality is just top notch
It is as simple as that. The quality of the audience matters. You will get what you deserve. When a majority still believes that rooted films are just art house festival-worthy, it will not change. When a film like Laapataa Ladies hits the 100 crore mark at the box office, we will get more quality content. Otherwise, producers will keep making formulaic, old stuff.
Correct.

Malayalam movies have always been exceptional, and their popularity has surged with the advent of OTT platforms. Many popular Bollywood movies, such as Hera Pheri, Bhool Bhulaiyaa, Bodyguard, and Drishyam, are remakes of original Malayalam films. Not all South Indian movies are great - Malayalam Industry 🔥🔥💪🏻
Can we imagine films like bhrahmayugam and kathal in other film industries with super heroes
They are discussing about Malayalam cinema and wondering what are they doing instead of inviting someone from the industry and let them clear the doubts.😂
Malayalam Always Top! 🫶🏻💯
The story line in Malayalam movies are always good. This is from ages..it is only now people have started seeing or knowing about it because of OTT platforms. The threads and the stories are always very practical unlike Bollywood masalas..
Malayalam has been producing best films among other industries for long. Only due to the social media and intenet/ OTT, other language people started to explore the quality of our films.

Malayalam industry is the pioneer
Clearly an under researched discussion
Okay....about Kerala Story 1.0: There's nothing remotely "Kerala" in that shit.
As a matter of fact, Malayalam films were always good. We won the maximum national awards, we made the first neorealist film in India, we made the first 70mm movie, and the first 3D film. That film was not only technically surprising but also showcased the quality of content. Our Directors, actors have a habit of winning national awards. We come up with great stories, but after the OTT platforms, we got a newer audience and worldwide acclaim. That's it.
Actually today's malayalam cinema is not even close to old malayalam movies,..it was only with the advent of OTT that people outside kerala noticed malayalam movies, anyway people are watching malayalam movies now.👍🏻
Malayalam movies always been excellent
Now they learned how to make money with it
It’s all about kerala audience .. there was a Bollywood superhero movie called Bhavesh Joshi which managed to get 4cr revenue with a 20 cr budget . No one watched this masterpiece instead went for veere dig wedding which is a a usual masala mix movie. Audience gotta adapt . Those who haven’t watched Bhavesh Joshi movie please do .. it is a very grounded and an amazing movie ... A mallu here btw
Pls watch Nirmalyam (1973) and feel the boldness of malayalam movies
Before this recognition bollywood used to remake Malayalam movies and used to take its credits.malayalam films had always been great.
HIndi films make movies for Rich people, whereas Makayalam make movies for common people I think .
Actress. Kasthuri should be here because she knows very well about Malayalam movies
Oo, Bhai Malayalam films are iconic since so long.. watch and . féel the content. With help of ott, many one came to know wht mollywood is . In ur language South Indian film.. Indian films doesn't mean Bollywood, just remember that.. and most of the Bollywood are remakes of Malayalam films..

The biggest factor that makes Malayalam Movies the best is not as people say the writers, directors, cultural connect, small budget. It is its audience.
Malayalis are the best film critics in the country. They don't think twice in discarding bad films even if it is made by the biggest stars or biggest directors.
Malayalam is the Best filim industry india

Meanwhile bollywood making movies like kerala story
Malayalam movies has always been great, but these north indians just started to recognise and understand great movies now, I think these north indians just wanted to see beauty over story or content, which is changing now
As a movie lover, my two cents. I prefer to watch realistic movies, not a super star movies with 3-5 action scenes and item songs. In this sense Malayalam movies are better because their script writing done by best writers, like MT vasudevan, padmarajan etc. their 80‘,90‘s movies are too good due to this. Due to ott platform now we can watch good Korean,Japanese,Spanish,French quality movies as well. So focus on the content of the movie

MALAYALAM has been maintained its standard since its early stages, like realistic from vigatha kumaran, balan, etc to chemmeen, thaniyavarthanam, kireedam, vanaprsatham, and moving to premam and now to the new gen movies.
The presenter's attitude is belittling. I can only say joke is on you if you belittle Minnal Murali as a lungi wearing super hero. Maybe he should educate himself more before discussing topics like this.
These people don't dare to say that Bollywood movies don't have life in them. But Mollywood,Kollywood, and Sandalwood movies do have. In Bollywood they just wanted to show off but here in the south it's the way of creativity made up by a bunch of people.❤❤❤❤.
