Im from greece and i found a steel begleri on the road a couple of weeks ago. Someone probably lost it so i went home and started trying to do a trick or two. My mom then saw me and apparently she knows some stuff as she used to own one as a kid. She told me that the begleri i had found belonged to someone skilled as the steel had been deformed by the knocking and the frequent use and i felt so special for finding it, almost like it chose me. Now im trying my best to learn many different tricks so that im someone "worthy" of that persons begleri

I make these with a longer cord between them for curtain tie-backs. Once you twist them together and they are resting on the curtain, they'll stay put until you untwist then. If you leave the ends out, you can even make tassels and attach them to the cord.

Needless to say I nearly choked… lol… one, I don’t have balls and 2. Even if I did, my doc sure as heck wouldn’t be playing with them… 🤣🤣🤣

My doc came in the exam room to see me for my check up after surgery… I was playing with them and he asked me what they were… I told him and handed them to him so he could check them out… he thought they were pretty neat and that they could be good for helping rebuild hand strength and or mobility after surgery… I told him that they were more of a fidget type toy to me and kept my hands busy when I was just hanging around waiting for others or standing in long lines etc… he liked them so much, I told him he could keep them… that was a little over 3 years ago …
Now, this doctor been my neurosurgeon for almost 10 years now … I won’t let anyone else touch my spine.l. He saved my life and literally gave me back the ability to walk again… i had my 14th surgery on my spine in February of this year… the Incident in my original post happened in March of this year… Andrew told me that Doc plays with those begleri balls all the time … I asked doc about them and if he still enjoyed them when he came in and after seeing how worn down they were I laughed and told him I would make him a new set…I asked if he had a color preference for the Paracord and he replied, "anything but blue!" I giggled and asked why even though I thought I knew the answer… he says that the comments and snickers about his blue balls just won’t stop… even after 3 years… the man has a wicked sense of humor :) as do I… so, just to be ornery, I said I would make him some pink ones… on my next visit in April, I brought him a set made from the deep red with black vertical stripes 550 cord… I believe it’s called fireman red… I get it at ParacordGalaxy . com (no spaces) …and yes, he loved them…

I have only ever tied the monkey fist without filling the center but I find when transitioning from wrapping along one axis to the next (you called it something like 90 degree turn) I make a diagonal across on the first quarter of the first wrap. the subsequent wraps in the same direction hide the crossing section and the wrapping order is reversed (i.e. from pointer finger to middle finger the first time, if starting as you did). This version changes 2 things: the axis-change is closer to invisible on the final monkey fist and the ends exit the fist at the same "corner of the cube", which for other applications could be more in line with personal preferences.
I guess I will have to try it to see if the ball bearing will make the hidden crossing section of cord show as a bump on the three wraps above it or not.

And the 4th pair have .45 call bullets as the cores, at a medium length. P.S.- It's just the projectile (bullet). Not the whole round, there is no casing(brass). They were rounds I fired off and retrieved them afterwards. Weighed them, and they still weighed the same. 124 grain for the 9mm, and 230 grain for the .45 ACP. Lol both FMJ RN. I was inspired by your previous Monkeys fist begleri videos and went all in, but can’t get exactly what you use.
I am having a lot of trouble getting the flow though and I have a few technical material questions that I can’t seem to find answers to anywhere.
How much does the ball-weight factor in for you?
I only have access steel balls in 16mm (good weight, big monkey balls) or 12mm (little light, small monkeyballs).
I only have access to 325 nylon cord, I’m thinking thinner is better but you sling your 550 no problem it seems. How much does the cord thickness matter? Did you gut your cord to make it more flexible?

damn, i NEED to craft this.
i recently found out that i have adhd and when i‘m doing something not physically active i start to bite my nails out of boredom. it started when i was eleven years old and as a 32 year old adult it just doesn‘t look good and on top women really don‘t dig it.
i was always looking for a fidget toy that has a high skill ceiling but which i don‘t have to pay too much visual attention to. i imagine that just by feeling how this moves you can get better at doing certain tricks.
i always thought about starting to play guitar on the side but to start out on that i have to look up and memorize the chords first to blindly practice them. so having to do the research always kept me from starting with it.
so i hope crafting this is going to be engaging enough for me. having a toy like that and learning to build a monkey fist on the side would be very helpful for me.
so, thank you for the tutorial! i‘ll definitly try to build one

In our school 20 years ago all teachers were gone crazy because almost every male student was playing the begleri in the classroom. When you use a begleri with beans it makes a pretty annoying noise when playing 😅

Oh.. I know exactly what you're talking about. The instrument you're thinking of is the called an asalato or kashaka which is made of two balls or gourds that are filled with pebbles or beads and then joined with a string between them.
