- *NOTE - There are a few places that are out of focus and some blocking of the specific tasks, but I decided the information was still good for those who need to run this device in a 12 volt system.*
Today I will install the Raspberry Pi 5 into my wall, requiring a replacement of the current power supply. We will look at the steps to run a Pi off grid on a 12 volt battery setup.

Now this is up my alley
18:18 All i could think of was "If the case don't fit, you must acquit."
Good deal, love seeing the setup out in the van.
A Job very well done. Fair play to you. Thanks for uploading this.
Excellent video 👍 Thank you 💜
Very cool!
I've been powering my laptop off a 12v (plug in) converter for years. It's basically a step up converter (12v - 19.5v dc) got it off amazon looks just like the 120v brick.
Thanks for the how-to vid! I'd like to get into RV life someday. Those on-off switches could use a label-maker.
I know what they do :) But next time I do switches, I will use more switch panels. I replaced five of these manual switches with a switch panel and it was the best thing I ever did.
I used to use a AC powered laptop in my semi truck. I used a 12v DC to 120v AC inverter. It worked for hours and hours. I could still start the truck because I had 4 100ah batteries.
That works, but efficiency-wise, staying on DC (instead of going from DC to AC then back to DC) and using Arm vs X86 will use much less power... not that that was an issue with your beefy setup, but others might not have that many batteries.
@@stevenrosscarpenter I was in a cross country diesel. I got it wrong, I had 4 1000ah batteries. The alternator put out 100 amps ,so 1200 watts. I started with a 400 watt inverter. But later changed to a 200 watt inverter. It would run my laptop and later separately. my CPAP machine for sleeping.
@@cerescop nowadays, you can charge usb-c powered laptops straight from a power delivery (PD) cigarette lighter adapter without even needing an inverter.
Bro you definitely need a helping hand on other side of the camera. And a few cable management too. Rest is super cool.
I should have set up the other camera at an angle, but didn't think about it until I was looking at the footage...but this is not something I could do again...
Nice
My kind of content.
I picked up an asus USB-C powered portable monitor this week. Signal and power in one.
I've only tested it on a m1 air and rog ally, but would be interested in trying it on a pi 5.
