  • Story Time: Racism Episode 5
I started a #TikTok storytime series on Racism and Antisemitism that I experience as a Rabbi and a Jew of color. Most of these stories will be about my experiences in the Jewish community and the intersection of racism and antisemitism.

I'm so sorry - I am always shocked at the racism of my Jewish brothers and sisters - it completely saddens me and blows me away.

This must be a phenomenon in the USA, I live in the the UK and I'm white. And I have lost out on jobs to quite a few black people, because they were better than me for the job. Also I have won jobs over black people too, when I have been better. I don't think we have the same level of racism over here. About three years ago I watched a little black kid ride his bike into a passenger car windows and cut his throat open. I held him in a head lock to stop the bleeding for what felt like forever. When he finally got took away in the helicopter, I realized I looked like something out of a horror movie, I was literally covered head to toe in his blood. He made a full recovery by some miracle, other than scaring. Amazing because he had cut his jugular. Every so often I go to see him and his family at one of those happy clappy black churches. And last week I became god father to his daughter Danielle Chambers and I couldn't be more proud. They named her after me it makes me feel like the most honoured person in the world.

Racism does exist in the UK and in other countries and often but not always looks different. I have talked with people of color in the UK and organizations and they have shared with me many painful stories of racism. I am speaking from my experiences as a black Jewish person in the United States. I hope you will connect and learn from People of color in the UK

I hate to hit "like" on these because I don't like these cases of racism. But, I do understand that hitting the like button helps you out with UA-cam.
