  • The Philadelphia 76ers have been one of the biggest winners of the 2024 offseason and free agency with the additions of Paul George from the Los Angeles Clippers, Eric Gordon from the Phoenix Suns, Andre Drummond from the Chicago Bulls, and Caleb Martin from the Miami Heat while also retaining Kelly Oubre. They've built out an exciting roster behind Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey that is up there towards the top of the contender list in the Eastern Conference alongside the Boston Celtics, New York Knicks, and possibly the Milwaukee Bucks, Indiana Pacers, and Cleveland Cavaliers. Even though some people don't love the moves, I think the new Sixers are really interesting. So, let's talk about it.

    Embiid wasn’t healthy last year and still dropped 33 a game. Maxey also almost averaged 30. The odd one out was Tobias who had 6 ppg who just got replaced.

    Something I feel like people aren’t thinking about is that with PG being on this team, he won’t need to average 35 for us to win basketball games. That’s always been the problem for us. We’ve never had enough scoring punch from the starting lineup outside of Maxey to take the stress off of Embiid. Also Tobias Harris and his big contract have held us back from getting the depth we’ve needed to help him out. Tobias showed people exactly why we fucking hated him last playoffs. He was never worth that contract and he’s hurt this team more than helped them throughout his entire contract.

    The sixers are fun and certainly look great now. They are one of the few teams that legit look ready and also have a geat roster to go with it. Assuming health is going to be okay they are going to be a tough cookie to crack and might go far this year, more than any other. At first I expected maybe Brandon Ingram to land on this team, but I guess PG13 is a slightly better fit. I didn't even know that had this much cap space to give.
    If any team can give the Celtics a run for their money it is this Sixers team and (again) upgraded Knicks. Both of those teams are extremely stacked.

    • @crooklynz718
      @crooklynz718 19 днів тому

      @Osumas stop it. For you to say the Knicks bench is like Donte and that's it just shows how you don't know much at all. Josh Hart obliterated the 76ers in the playoffs as a starter with his rebounding, drives, and 3 point shooting and he's now moving to the bench. Miles McBride is another great bench piece whose and elite defender and can hit the 3. For you to even mention a rookie in McCain as if he's in the same tier as a Donte, Hart, or even McBride is comical. Drummond is one dimensional, he can rebound and defend a little but that's about it. Thibs is not gonna play a 6 man rotation considering he has those 3 that I mentioned coming off the bench, plus they will add a backup C as well. The Knicks are a deep team due to their elite players whether it be rebounding, shooting the 3, or defending coming off the bench which is something the 76ers lack.

    Sixers absolutely had to swing for the fences this off-season and they did just that. They did the best that could be done this off-season . If their younger guys can step up and play real roles then their depth won’t be an issue and they’ll be ok in that area. Looks for names like Ricky Council and Jared McCain, if they can play roles then this team will do well. If not they’ll need to make another move. Get a 2 or a 4. Hell they could still use one more forward.
    And guys like Drummond, Gordon, and Martin will be absolutely huge in certain situations.

They are not much closer to winning a championship, even though PG is a slight upgrade from Tobias Harris at this point in his career. Health and playoff performance will be the determining factor for the Sixers with Embiid and PG at the helm, and (recent) history has shown us that they can not be counted on for either.

      I think they have a bad matchup vs the Knicks, at least the older version with Hartenstein still on the team. Both Robinson and I-Hart can hang with Embiid just enough to keep him honest and they have scary, hardworking players that can all shoot and explode, not to mention their defense just bogs everyone down. I don't think it's going to be any easier this year, as the Knicks basically improved more than the Sixers did and they have youth in their favor as well, but let's hope for a great series in the ECF or something.

Now that they finally have a good roster around him for the first time in his career, he doesn’t have to do everything so maybe he can actually stay healthy. It’d be much better for him to only average 25 points by playing low minutes or taking games off to prevent injury and they can still have a winning record without him. This should be the goal so they can go into the playoffs fully healthy.

    I’m sry but two stars who are constantly injured is not scary. I don’t see anyone beating the Celtics. PG disappears in the playoffs and Embid always gets hurt. I do like some of their role players and Maxey will be the face of the franchise soon but this team doesn’t scare anyone. Too many good teams

    Big 3 doesn’t work anymore unless you have Lebron. The 76ers built themselves to maybe beat the Knicks but they’d get washed by the Celtics. The depth just isn’t there. Maxey, Embiid, and PG will still have to play 37-41 min a game in the postseason because they don’t have a real sixth man.

      @@urbaindelva7869 it’s really not a good idea to build a team that way. That’s what it really means. It’s best to have a big 2 maybe, role players, and depth.

    im a celtics fan and have been referering to the sixers as "the celtics punching bag" since they got PG so i could hate on them but honestly my mouth fell agape and i was horrified when i got the woj or shams notification they signed caleb martin, went into a winter solider episode and had flashbacks to 22-23 ECF (the weird ass down 0-3 came back and shit the bed in game 7 series for the Cs) where caleb martin had stephen A on espn saying he should win eastern conference finals mvp over a healthy jimmy butler. lol between him eric gordon and drummond (drummonds aight but he has a good matchup against the Cs if porzingas is out) im more scared of the role players they signed this offseason rather than that guy who does podcasts and shits the bed in the playoffs, they look like a squad the healthy knicks prolly still better cause the villanova + OG is a lil too much talent, but it also has to be said i literally dont know who the knicks center is that they r gonna have to chuck at embiid if mitchel robinson is hurt and that dude never is healthy which i feel so bad for him about cause i saw some shit on his story when he broke his foot on smtn last year about how he is doing everything he can and his shit just keeps breaking
