Rent a Hero No. 1 [Xbox] by Aspect - Prologue in English [HD] [1080p60]

- Rent a Hero No. 1 (レンタヒーローNo.1) is an action role-playing game developed by Aspect and a remake of AM2’s earlier Mega Drive game Rent a Hero. The remake was originally released on Dreamcast in 2000 and ported to the Xbox in 2003.
What you see in this video is an unreleased English adaption being upscaled on an Xbox 360. Unfortunately the game crashes not long after the prologue, so it’s impossible for me to continue beyond that point without an original Xbox. :\

Thank you so much for existing.
Such a fun game! Plus he's top tier in Fighters Megamix with that ground projectile.
I only wish I could play more of it. Damn thing crashes on me whenever I try to use the Creamcast.
This is one of those games I still wish came out in NA, I would have liked it a lot I think. But no the NA version had to be cancelled of course. Plus the cool cameo by Segata, you know that's a bonus!
What I wouldn't do for an English copy of this game! :D
I got excited for a second thinking "You found a way around the crash? TELL ME!" Oh well, someday perhaps :)
Sadly, no. Did ask around and one person did mention they were able to play it to completion. Ah well.
Man, what I wouldn't give for a copy of this game! :D
Is there anyway to get an iso of this?
Durn Wiki says this game got an arcade too!? I wish can see.. n gonna need GameFAQs heavily since I'm Dreamcast no box here YET
I loved the Dreamcast version but it was Japan exclusive.
Is the XBOX port 100% playable (without crashes) in english on a XBOX Original?
You would need a modded original Xbox to play it. I did have a friend w/ a modded original Xbox test it, but it was crashing on him. I know other people have been able to get it to work though, so I'm not sure what's going on with it.
srill waiting for someone to do a full playthrough of this
cant you just not save it?
does this game crash right after you ended the video?
It loads the next day. The old man from SECA shows up at the door with a Creamcast, which you then have to hook up and use to select your first mission. Unfortunately, the Creamcast crashes the game. I had a friend with a modded original Xbox test it out, and it crashed on him too. Since other people have been able to play the English version to completion on original hardware, I think the ISO that I have is corrupt.
thanks
It's fully translated in English right?
It's a Dreamcast game not Saturn
Do you play with a controller
Yes.
Why did they decide to cancel this game, anyway? It may look a bit outdated for the time being, but otherwise seems to play well reasonably. Especially considering that the localization was almost completed and the ads were sent to the media. What an odd mystery.
The game was to be published by AIA, which was formed in 2001 by Jaleco founder and president Yoshiaki Kanazawa after he was forced to sell Jaleco for financial reasons one year prior. Evidently he didn't have much luck with his new company either. AIA's US website announced Rent a Hero No. 1 in January 2003. Eight months later, it was postponed, with the website citing changing market conditions as the reason. AIA looks to have ultimately folded in early 2015, after only successfully publishing a literal handful of games.
Ah, probably another executive meddling story. Sucks when that happens.
By the way, have you heard the news about a possible film adaption not so long ago? Apparently some guys are trying to make something out of this game, of all Sega IP, for whatever reason.
I don't think it was a case of executive meddling. I'm guessing the company was in financial distress near the end of 2003. Their website doesn't show any further activity until 2015 when it looks like they may have been trying to liquidate their remaining stock prior to going out of business.
As for the movie thing, Sega partnered with Hakuhodo DY Group, a Japanese advertising company that owns Stories International (Stories LLC), which mainly specializes in producing commercials for Western markets. As far as I can tell, they have no track record for any big budget productions, so if anything ever does come out of this deal, I wouldn't expect it to be very good.
I see. Thanks for sharing such insight.
