I LOVE MALCOLM 'CAUSE NO-ONE ELSE DOES! I mean it, man. I don't care what anyone else thinks, I consider Malcolm Mclaren to be one of my true art-heroes; I wouldn't be the poet I am if I hadn't heard Mclaren performing "Buffalo Girls" off the 1983 album DUCK ROCK. Whatever else Mclaren was - and I know he was no saint - he was a true English eccentric; a man who did what he wanted and didn't let anyone stop him. I really do admire him for that. I wish I could have met him, but he died before I could get the chance. However, I will be forever influenced by his attitude towards life, his conviction that "Being fearless of failure arms you to break the rules. In doing so, you may change the culture, and just possibly, for a moment, change life itself." Because some days - in my wildest dreams - that's what I want to do.
got one thing right lads,no one liked malcolm.a pr guru who flirted with punk, situationalism, rocker gear, having kids etc etc.self obsessed, like a lot of the in for a nickel in for a week type punks.some of us havent changed since '76 so would have to say thanks for the pistols malcolm, even if THEY rather than you exuded song writing prowess, manic energy, characters etc etc.
I guess managers are important and even punk was "managed". Doesn't mean it was all bad? I still hate being managed though....hence not rich but kinda free (ish)..hahahaha!
