OMG I loved Mark Gardener soo much had all the EPS with Flowers and album and they Played ireland 1991 and I lost all my friends and Boyf in crush no mobile phones and I didn't care as I stood transfixed...I did find folks later as I was there for 3 days..
I was at this gig. Billy Bragg bitched about the US invading Iraq. The La's pulled out so Carter USM played and Jerry from Jesus Jones fell on his arse. Awesome day.
"It's the fucking third world war!" He exclaimed. All I remember thinking was just play a damn song. Rather annoyingly, I have no recollection of Ride.
@@ryanjonestownmassaker5943 The 1991 Gulf War was a result of Iraq's invasion of Kuwait and a United Nations resolution to expel Iraq from Kuwait. You're thinking of the 2003 Iraq invasion, which was most definitely bullshit and based up lies about weapons of mass destruction.
I'm only really learning about Ride now, but I was really into The Wedding Present back then. Sounds bizarre (Bizarro) but Ride and The Weddos have a lot in common with their thrashy jangley guitars and intense high-speed drum-machine-style beats.
Great day, i was there! The Cure and Ride were the highlights but New Model Army; also great. They had a video screen up showing indie hits of the day between the bands. It's not really well-remembered now but The Cure were rumoured to be splitting up. It was only really confirned that they weren't, when at the end of the gig Robert Smith announced 'See you at the next Cure show!". Happy hazy memories. Thanks for the upload. x
I was at the front for this as Ride were THE upcoming band. The crush was unbearable so I moved back before i died. I didnt really see what all the fuss was about lol
This is Ride at the peak of their power. What a phenomenal drummer. Never tire of watching this.
I think the peak was during the GBA tour

Remember this being on R1. We turned every radio in the flat up to 11, then the bloke from downstairs came up to complain. Great days.
every other comment here should be about Loz. LOZ LOZ LOZ. His drumming is everything.

Bitched about Iraq? That war that was based entirely on lies, you bell end!

Perfection. They are amazing musicians. Cant wait for the reunion gig! They can play the Today Forever EP, Nowhere and Going Blank Again!
Recorded this off the radio at the time and listened to it for years - amazing to see the video!
Think it's in a weird order tho - seem to remember Chelsea Girl was the last song they played. Not heard it for 15+ years mind
If you still have it, upload it on UA-cam and share with us!!!
@@littlesquidward8117 if it turns up I will yeah
Watched them last week in Manchester. They played this, it's just as intense now as it was then...
BEST INDIE BAND EVER
I just want to be as cool as Mark Gardener
