its like having two sarcastically funny Tony Stark's in one room! Seriously, this is perhaps the most ive ever seen RDJ laughing his socks off so much that he's flipping out in his chair. The chemistry between these two is just adorably bromantic! I really hope they get to do more movies together!
@@raferalstonisgoat4457 You know, for what he was given, I thought Kilmer did a fine job as Batman. And reportedly he kind of gave up halfway through filming because he saw the direction the movie was going, so that makes him look good.
So tragic about Val Kilmer. Such a talent. Just watched his self titled documentary. Life can certainly deal you a tough hand. Wishing him the best wherever he is and prayers for his health to improve.
+Ashley Williams you should watch KKBB with the commentary. I cant watch the movie without it anymore. It feels like I'm betraying my friends! Its basically like this interview only completely unhinged with a smooth shane black in the middle.
You noticed that too.. it feels like Kilmer can catch up the wit or least flow with it. Also if you watch the movie Kilmer seems like he’s the big brother to rdj
This is like capturing lightning AND thunder in a bottle. Couldn't stop laughing during all the snarky, yet thoughtful exchanges between these two excellent artists. I don't know how anybody could interpret this fun interview as an indicator that they don't get along or are unable to work together. I think these guys are genuine kindred spirits, intellectually jesting with nonchalance that only friends can do. I particularly liked seeing Kilmer express how he wants to portray Mark Twain one day, because now he has, and can be seen as Mark Twain in the upcoming Tom Sawyer & Huckleberry Finn.
"Well, you do." Val to Robert about his record out. Val is so sweet and funny, I hope his cancer is better and will do great performances in movies ahead. I have always loved Robert too. Good team! :) XOXO
+Nikki Breanne "Thank you all for your love and support. There's a rumor I'm unwell again and in hospital which is totally untrue. I was in to verify I have no tumor or infection of any kind which was verified by the very caring experts at UCLA." -Val Kilmer from October 2015
It was really fascinating to watch this interview and witness the fun, easy-going chemistry between these guys. Val and RDJ are two incredibly talented actors, who were among the biggest stars in the 90's. I was really looking forward to seeing them work together for the first time, and Kiss Kiss Bang Bang did not disappoint ! The film is just too good. I find it extremely satisfying when producers get the casting of a movie just right, and KKBB is one of those rare gems where the casting could not have been more perfect !
Honestly, this was amazing to see, never saw them together in an interview, etc before and they clearly get each other's humor. But the best part of this is knowing that despite the hard couple years that Robert has just been through, this was just when his career was for real getting back on track, and to see him on stage now, as the heart of the MCU, just so amazing. What a life Downey has lived, and so no wonder he has so much depth he can draw on to play his roles. So many celebrities don't have that once they are successful, they ether say successful, or something happens and they lose it all and it becomes sad often to see that, but Downey, such a great guy, seriously seems like a decent and thoughtful guy(yea that is me showing a bro crush) and then to see Downey rebirth not only his career from really help bring all of the MCU into existence at the same time... Iron Man was the first superhero movie that I felt was as good as the imaginary world I created as a kid reading those comic books. And Kilmer, honestly some of my all time favorite movies/roles as well. "I'm your huckleberry is my favorite all-time one-liner in an action movie, and such brilliant memories of Real Genius, Top Gun, Willow etc as a kid. yea this was awesome to see, glad it was posted!
It almost felt like sitting at the table during Thanksgiving with Robert and Val. Brilliant interview of sorts..I would love to just hang out with those guys.
Two of the best actors of their generation. Lot's of levity...pretty silly dudes...neither one appears to be taking himself very seriously, yet they are both very serious about their craft. Sad there seems to be so much bashing Kilmer these days...I've acted a bit and the director isn't always right...sometimes there is a reason why an actor will fold up the script and make it into a little paper hat, like say Brando once did during Apocalypse Now. Kevin Spacey is a very respected and remarkable actor and he has high praise for Kilmer. Both of these actors, Downey Jr. and Kilmer, have shown brilliance..
He had throat cancer. He had it back in the 90s but he hid it from everyone. I think he has completely recovered from it because he’s returning for the Top Gun sequel next year.
They both seem to have very Mercurial personalities. Val seems to take his time while he muses while RDJ is flighty and is like a butterfly that can only land for a second before taking off again. Val seems more at peace in this interview and RDJ seems slightly at odds with himself. I'm glad he discovered Kung Fu because he has seemed more at ease since. The Sherlock Holmes movies are perfection. Hoping for a third and fourth.
Just watched the Val documentary it was fantastic. It’s sad that we won’t get these two in a film together again but still fantastic we have Kiss Kiss Bang Bang
Val Kilmer is one of my most favorite actor's just a little bit overlooked I find, my best friend told me he's a proper arse hole jerk to work with on set, I don't know about that really but then again not really all that bothered about his personality, man is a good actor and that's all that counts to me.
i can imagine he has mellowed as he has gotten older, but back in the day when he was A-list he was undoubtedly a grade-A douchebag. the method acting probably didn't help, it gave us some great performances but to people on set it would have been unbearable. that being said, he is also one of my favourite actors.
Shalom. Good Afternoon! wow! I loved this movie with Robert Downey Jr FOREVER and Val Kilmer FOREVER! Hilarious comedy of two Hollywood hucksters getting into a lot of trouble. It's hard to watch this movie on my TV operator. I laughed from start to finish. Lol.
I don’t know if a lot of people would get this, but Downey Jr dug at Kilmer around he midpoint when the “trying on turtlenecks” thing. It was a famous story during The Saint Kilmer was a nightmare to the costume designer, making her fabricate scores of different sweater turtlenecks over a period of weeks, like actually making them, and then in the end just choosing the off the rack one she offered in first place. Probably so much in the interview we don’t get, haha
RDJ is the shit, but Val... this guy was Madmartigan, Bruce Wayne, John Holmes, Iceman, Jim Morrison, and fuckin Doc Holiday! Damn. And so many more. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a great movie and these 2 dudes are amazing in it.
I'm impressed by Rob's tee shirt and how it matches those monitors! Love you both, just like watching brother's messing with each other. you guys.....love it!
You guys talking about Val's next role as UFC fighter Chael Sonnen who's voice has a high comedic tone and his producers name is Joe Silva, probably his mum asking the questions from Oregon too, absolutely stunning.
You're not dumb Phil Kilmer you are smart at the movie no he's trying at least he's trying don't give up on yourself Val Kilmer you're a good actor and you're smart
Interesting that Val mentions that he'd like to some day play Mark Twain, when I just viewed a Imgur gallery today of him going through the process of being made-up as a very realistic looking older Mark Twain. He's apparently starring, directing and producing a new Twain film.
One of the most underrated, best movies of all time.
EXACTLY
Its perfect
I agree.
I agree!
Absolutely 💯
i come back here about once a year and just rewatch this classic. they are literally trying to outsnark each other

Lol...what a funny, intimate dynamic between these two. They've both had many ups and downs in their careers...definitely can relate to one another.
