@@WillFuI Not at all. The fan comes with a nice bracket and plastic risers. The only thing remotely “ghetto” was that I used silver screws and silver washers to mount the bracket to the board. Once everything is installed you don’t even see them. It’s a clean looking upgrade.
@@WillFuI Ya, I had to buy M3 16mm screws to avoid having to mount the bracket from under the motherboard (no way I was going to remove the motherboard). The M3 screws fit right into the motherboard and 16mm is the perfect length to go through the bracket and the risers. The risers are needed to clear the bank of capacitors next to the CPU. The kit includes three sets of risers - I used the black. The cooler also came with some black screws but I don’t think they are the right fit for this purpose.

@@HardwareSense Okay, thanks! I'll do some testing with it and see because that dell one is very loud. If I can get similar results, but with much lower noise, I'm all for it.
@@HardwareSense Hm... it could be. I'm going to replace the back fan with the A-9 and test things out tomorrow. Hopefully, it's just the back fan because I've already dumped quite some money into this thing after upgrading my storage since I had to remove the large HDD blocking the darn front vent and all these noctua fans. This stuff is adding up, haha.
@@HardwareSense Nevermind, my testing was flawed. CPU temps are very noticeably better now. I was in the mid 70's while playing a very CPU-intensive game(most games only use 5-20% CPU, this uses 35-50%) before adding the two Noctua's. Temps now were actually in the 60's and only rarely ever reaching the 70's. Very impressive and what I had expected. GPU temps dropped by about 2-3C's too, which is nice. I think I'm satisfied with everything now, especially with it no longer sounding like a jet engine when under heavy load. I'll still probably upgrade the CPU cooler one day. I'm trying to get a G-SYNC monitor at the moment next.
Hi I got the rtx 3070, i7 10700f and I was wondering what the best cpu cooler upgrade would be for me: cooler master t2, tx3 evo, or the nh u9s. I was looking at the nh u9s

Is your recommended Sleeved PWM Fan Splitter Cable long enough? 2. Is the fan cable a 3 or 4 pin? 3. What 120 mm fan would you recommend? 4. Any addition advice?
The splitter is long, but not long enough to reach out all the way, you would need an extension for the fan most likely. The fan cable is PWM, so 4 pin, I am not sure how are you planning to use that 120mm fan below without a case modification, its will be hard, but any Noctua fan is good, especially the ones that have a good static pressure. If your system has the small stock cooler I would look into buying the Dell tower cooler on eBay and using a higher quality thermal paste like Artic MX-4 thermal paste.
@@d8on93 if it's the Dell provided GPU you can do one of two things. If you feel comfortable with it you can take apart the heatsink on the graphics card and replace the thermal paste. Also you will need to buy thermal pads for the memory chips, because the heat sink doesn't make contact with the memory modules to keep them cool. I would say to adjust the fan speed curve, but Dell doesn't let you change the fan speed and max out at 2000 RPM even at high GPU and CPU temps. Other option which is not cost effective is to buy a different graphics card. So best option change thermal paste and buy thermal pads for the memory modules to help them make contact with the heatsink.

It is mounted the right way, during the video while explaining the placement, I had it flipped around, but that was just for visualization.
Think I'm gonna get a dell g5 and then buy 3 noctua nf a9 92mm fans and put 2 in the front and one in the back.
I installed a Noctua NH-U9S and the NF-A9 in my G5 and it made a huge difference in both temperature and sound.
@@egala72 how getto was the mounting for you?
@@WillFuI Not at all. The fan comes with a nice bracket and plastic risers. The only thing remotely “ghetto” was that I used silver screws and silver washers to mount the bracket to the board. Once everything is installed you don’t even see them. It’s a clean looking upgrade.
@@egala72 i remember watching a video where they did it and they had to go buy screws.

Anyone know how long the sata cables need to be for the SSDs? Or a link to an amazon product please? Thank you
About a foot long.
So the smaller hard drive cages have no data cable? So they won't work? If I'm using the front 3.5 HDD with that blue cable, the smaller HDD cages won't have a data cable? Or will it work with those two black connections that they already included?
There is no long data cables that can reach the top cage

@hardwaresense I have the 350W when I got the G5 with the 1660ti, I want to upgrade to a 3070 in the same build. Would it work? The dual fan which is 9.5" in length might be cutting it close but could I upgrade the PSU without buying a new case and motherboard?
You would need to upgrade the PSU with the one I have in one of my last videos, it's the 500w one.
What size is correct one for the VRM small heatsink for this mod? there's 3 sizes on the amazon website.
Would an A-9 Noctua 92mm fan as the exhaust perform better than the dell one? I've read that the dell one has a higher rpm, but I don't know much about fans.
I doubt that the difference will be any big
@@HardwareSense Okay, thanks! I'll do some testing with it and see because that dell one is very loud. If I can get similar results, but with much lower noise, I'm all for it.
@@Kiku-Ichimonji I think that noise might be coming from your stock cooler and not the back fan, on all 3 of my computers those fans are super quiet
Is the Dell 460W PSU the D460AM-01? Will that work for the 360W that is in the XPS 8940?

@@HardwareSense from what I’ve read online I mostly saw the nh-u9s and the tx3 evo being used. I want to upgrade to the 120 mm and put it where you suggested, next to the hard drive space closer to the graphics card. The PC is being shipped now.
All can be done, just be patient.
@@HardwareSense I want to keep the hard drive to reuse my existing 2 TB SATA. So I was wanting to move and upgrade the fan. I'm comfortable modifying the case as long as their is room enough for the fan and the hard drive. Maybe 120 mm is too ambitious, is 92 mm better, thoughts?

If your system has the small stock cooler I would look into buying the Dell tower cooler on eBay and using a higher quality thermal paste like Artic MX-4 thermal paste.
@@elgigante2001 sorry forgot to say it’s the gpu
