- i was on the same songwriter festival(30A) where david olney passed in mid song on stage less than one month ago - many of us were there at the festival with that news of our brilliant friend...gone
this song called: "the day after" is what i have done in processing the loss
with love, respect and remembrance of a great, lifetime artist...david olney
-darrell Scott
I will keep coming back. Thank you Darrell Scott and those wonderful musicians with you on this video.
I was at that show - it's forever burned in my brain.
Great tribute. David Olney was doing what he loved with other people who loved the same thing. He apologized to the crowd and peacefully drifted away. Legendary way to go.
Such a hard loss. Not surprised that you would find the right words, Darrell Scott. Can't help but weep, listening, but your song is a real comfort and a tender celebration of the one-of-a-kind, David Olney.
Can't imagine a more moving tribute than this one by Darrell.
I'm back to appreciate Darrell Scott for this song and to honor David Olney
Beautiful. Only met David once a few years ago while visiting with his friend Bebo. Stayed up late in the night talking about everything. He was a true Renaissance man. Will always remember that night. Such a fitting tribute.
I deeply admired the man and his music. Thank you for this beautiful tribute, Darrell.
Great tribute, on such a short timeline...not sure how you guys can do that. When i heard he said "I'm sorry", it just hammered home the selflessness he carried with him.
Thank you for sharing.
I return to this video often, as it may be the single most powerful tribute to David Olney.
Thank you very much John.
@@DarrellScottOfficial You are quite welcome. My wife and I were in Austin "the night that David Olney died," and had just returned from a fantastic show by Terry Allen and his expanded Panhandle Mystery Band at the Paramount Theatre in which they played his entire new CD "Just Like Moby Dick," and we were on cloud nine...then I checked the computer...David Olney had died, on stage, singing (not a song of his, but one by Jack Murray, "Bluebonnet Girl"). I had last seen him in Dallas in November where he played with Dan Seymour. Your song...is just perfect, and the musicians playing with you help make it so.
Such a beautiful, heartfelt tribute.
Oh, Darrell! That last line was my first thought... you hit every note, from Contender to Shakespeare and all that David gave to us. Thank you.
still sad, but what a great song. thank you.
God BLESS
