    Great vid - I've actually watched this a few times since you uploaded it - pretty much summed up how I felt when I first rode an 899 (I bought one per your recommendation and still love the thing as much as that first ride....great bit of kit). All the best sir! - TMF

    People needs to hear the 899 Panigale in person to really appreciate the perfect sound this bike make. Any bike can make loud noise but not many can make the symphony sound that this bike makes. Love my 899!!

    I just bought this bike today coming from a 300 Ninja 2013. Initially I was going for and test rode a RSV4 Aprilia 2012. The RSV4 is great, but I could not handle it well as far as turning like I used to in the 300 Ninja. I test rode this 899 and I fell for it. It really is a great bike. Excellent handling, the throaty feel to the engine and the good throttle response. I recommend it. The only thing is I wish they made the handle grips a bit more meaty, but hey nothing is perfect lolll.

    Nice review Sir Grumble. I'm pleased that you like the 899. I will test ride it soon and I hope is has enough power for me, considering I'm 240lbs. That's why I love my 1199 R because of it's 'brutal' power. I'd love for you to test ride the R, they resolved some of the issues you experienced when riding the S.

    I'm reading most of the comments here, and although this is a great bike review, I couldn't stop laughing and think the best part is him catching his friend on video pissing and saying "65,000 people are watching you pee, are you getting stage fright?", and then the car beeping at him pissing as the car drove by. Am I the only immature one in the bunch getting a huge kick out of this or what??? LOL

    The Sport mode and the Race mode give exactly the same bhp, only the settings for the ABS etc change. Placebo effect? Methinks so.

    • @BaronVonGrumble
      @BaronVonGrumble  10 років тому +17

      not entirely true - the throttle response is harder - hence the implied feeling of higher power.

    • @teodorodistasi1809
      @teodorodistasi1809 10 років тому

      Sorry. It's the placebo effect.

    • @jamsxr
      @jamsxr 10 років тому

      The throttle response in race mode does make a big difference, maybe you need to twist your wrist quicker :)

    • @teodorodistasi1809
      @teodorodistasi1809 10 років тому

      Then surely it's your wrist that makes the difference and not the mode ;)

    • @jamsxr
      @jamsxr 10 років тому

      If you're slow with your wrist movement it won't make any difference what mode it's in.

    To call the Ducati 899 Panigale "A Paedophile's Dream" has to be the most ridiculous, offensive, yet funniest way ever imagined to describe a motorcycle's plus point. Simply genius and should feature in all Ducati's marketing material.

    The reach to the bars on the 899 is actually shorter than the 1199. Rode them back to back, the 899 felt like I was holding a press-up.
    If you'd got the 899 before the end of last year, they were throwing in the Termi cans for free.

  • @spacep0d
    @spacep0d 10 років тому +5

    What a beautiful machine! Looks like a space-bike. :D
    The ram-air in front is sweet. Sexual vanilla! Sport-Rider did mention the bars being really far-out, almost like the most-uncomfortable part of a push-up position (paraphrased).
    That sound is cracking. I still love the Triumph Daytona 675R (favorite supersport) but I've love to have a go with the 899.
    'Pretty little farty girl.'

    I tested a Panigale 899 back in 2013. I had a 2000 GSXR 750 at the time, a bike I liked a lot, until I tried the 899... I was shocked about how much better the Panigale was, the sitting position, the handling, the electronics.. the 899 was 13 years newer than my GSXR but it felt like 25 years!

      @AznS0ulja 8 років тому +2

      really doesn't.. my neighbour has one and it legit sounds like a 300, only louder. Dead serious. I prefer a honda, or yamaha R1 sound.

    • @BG1E
      @BG1E 8 років тому +3

      That's because most 300's are 2 cylinder, just like the Ducati.. Doesn't mean it sounds the same.. It's far from the same.. Most Honda and Yamaha supersports are 4 cylinder, so that just means that you prefer a 4 cylinder bike I guess..

    • @AznS0ulja
      @AznS0ulja 8 років тому +1

      Orthodux Yeah can't go wrong with the 4cyl. If I'm spending like 10k pounds on a bike, it's gotta sound good. But with the sound (obviously i'm exaggerating that it sounds EXACTLY the same), it still sounds similar enough, to me the 899 sounds like a louder ninja 300.

    Just test rode the 2015 899 today. It was actually the first super sport I've ever ridden (been riding vintage Japanese cruisers for about 4 years now), and I found the power delivery to be incredibly smooth and very manageable. I couldn't believe how light and maneuverable it was. I also like the "fartiness" of it, as you so eloquently put it. Is the heat coming from underneath the seat typical for super sport bikes, or is that unique to this bike given that the back cylinder head of the V-twin is closer to the seat? I could really feel the heat when I hit the gas on the entrance ramps.

    Ugh hell. I would ride a 50cc 250kg scooter if it had that modern ducati front end. Just wish they wernt so expensive.
    The Chinese need to hurry up and rip one off rather than fannying about with er-6 copies so I can afford one xD

      Sparntanz D There are few V-twin supersports dude. You never rode a RC8R or VTR1000? At least RSV 1000R? They're bit pricey to maintain and usually people who never rode them - don't like them.
      No matter which kind of bike, they're all for riding'. Dang, when I get 60 years old and get fat as fuck I'll probably like Harleys or Victory.
      Peace.

    a lot of people might think otherwise, but Ducatis sound like broken 125CC's under 6000RPM. they kinda suck IMO. only at high revs to they sound good.

    Reminded me of the thrills I had riding my black and gold 900ss bevel in the 80s. It would have been a lot less powerful I imagine but with it's Conti silencers perhaps sounded beefier. If only I'd been able to hang on to it.

    Sounds like a 125 cc chinese bike with a broken exhaust.

      You're broken if you think the amazing v-twin on these sound anything like your shitty 125cc Chinese parallel twins with a broken exhaust.

    Great vid, I want one! Bought a Hypermotard last year though, so not gonna happen! The full beam thing and the indicators, will make you swear, a lot! The noise of a Ducati though, never fails to get a grin.

    Race mode sets engine to high setting for beter performance, u can change this also for sport mode in the settings menu.. Standard it's set to low.. At least on my 1199 it is..

    It's an incredible Ducati. The only issue I had with the 1199 Panigale when I rode it last year was the heat. L Twin goodness, Ducati life! Mics can never pick up the Termignoni exhaust note :/
