bought a truck, looks like they put a new actuator on the turbo, the exhaust brake barely works or comes on when in full exhaust mode, I have no codes on the truck. idk whats going on with it
New turbo it makes boost when I add throttle but if I have engine brake set in stage 3 or high my vgt doesn't slow my engine down take 10-15 seconds for boost Guage just to get to 20 psi sometimes it goes to 30psi. It use to slow the engine down fast now it's no different then just using engine Jake's. Actuator was calibrated so I could be put on engine and total turbo rebuilt. I have no codes. Where do I look. The turbo failed to slow truck down. Replace both solenoids and had engine brand rebuilt kit done and a new cylinder head. When my turbo started doing this I still had good boost just nothing to notice for slowing truck down. Seems like I on the brakes all the time now. Also replace injection harness, exhaust back pressure sensor and the little steel line and air intake sensor. Truck is deleted and has been flawless 3+yrs till this happened. HELP what's wrong where do I look it only fails on engine braking side.
Why would I be getting some oil seepage on the boost side? 2018 Fleetwood Discovery RV 42,000 miles, with new air filter, I dont idle for long periods. ISB17
The actuator will have to be mounted on the turbo to be calibrated by someone with Holset E-tool. Most shops use Cummins Insite, which would also require the turbo to be installed on the engine to calibrate.
what is the cost of a new turbo and actuator from you canadian i know if I buy one from kenworth for a kenworth t800 its over $14000 for a 2015 kenworth

Are vgt the same from 2010 to 2022 6.7 cummins or is there a difference between them.
Can I check the actuator without draining the coolant?
I bought a new turbo and it came with the actuator already bolted on so do I still need to have it reprogram/calibrated?

Anyway to install a vgt turbo on a 99 isx ? "Piggy back controller" The Jake on my 2011 isx is stronger than the 99. Thanks great advice!

Go through the install process in insite before putting it on the turbo. After installing then you run the calibration.
If you take the actuator off do you have to calibrate it again if it was already calibrated
Good question. I wouldn't think so as long as you get it in the right place putting it back on. But, did you ever find out?

Assuming that 2015 Kenworth has the ISX engine - a new turbo and actuator would be less then $5k CAD at the moment
