    You show 2 types of copper elbow. The normal one with two enlarged ends is called an “end feed elbow”. It is easy to find. The ones you actually used with one big end and the other end not enlarged are called “end feed street elbows” ! They are still easy to get, but may take more finding✅

    Got the paper pattern cut out, want to make a few of these BUT I REALLY want to scale them up by about 2x - 3x while maintaining the 6mm stitch holes. Really unsure how to do so without making the stitching holes bigger or farther apart. Got any insight for me, Tony?

    I'm working on my 3rd one of these bags. I had a brain freeze and couldn't remember how to start the zig zag stitch. Love every one of Tony's patterns and I have 8 or 9

    Why do you need to double up the back of the bag? Is that just structural to keep the bag holding its shape? Also, wouldn't you use a cheaper leather for that piece? Save the much more expensive latigo and use veg tan, for example? Love the steampunk touches, I gotta say. Thank you for NOT simply stamping some damn gears on it and calling it steampunk. This is such a great piece and I can think of a number of ways to add my own touches - need to get the pattern and off I go - thanks, Tony!

    I'm making this now. How far from the edge should I make my stitch line from the zipper?

    • @enki2958
      @enki2958 3 роки тому

      That depends of the size of the zipper slider. I would recommend 3 or 4 mm.

  • @gguerra58
    @gguerra58 4 роки тому

    I have started using your design I purchased and so far so good! The video states a 23" zipper. Would that be a #5 or #10 zipper? Thank you...

    • @enki2958
      @enki2958 3 роки тому

      The 23" refers tot the length of the zipper. 23" would be 58 to 60cm of length.

    Wir haben die Tasche nun endlich fertig. Statt der Metallverzierung haben wir Punzierarbeiten gemacht. Eine Bitte haben wir, bitte zukünftig die Konfektionsgröße des Trägers angeben, denn uns paßt die Tasche kaum. Wir werden uns nun längere Riemen machen müssen.

    Tony, great bag, looks really cool. Question: Time: 10:33, you show a black gasket around the copper elbow with sew holes, yet at 11:42, you did not use the gasket to sew it down, I want to assume, either you changed your mind about using the gasket or, you used the gasket as a visual example of it being sewn down. Only reason I am asking is cause I did not see the gasket in the pattern, which I already claimed :-)

    • @DieselpunkRo
      @DieselpunkRo  5 років тому

      you are correct, it was an example, not used in this bag. Just really wanted to show how that small gasket can mask the end of the tube and be used to attach the tube to anything and anywhere like i have in the past on masks and shoulder armor and now on this bag

    Thanks a bunch

    If I made that bag I would prob scale it up a bit and change the straps so it would resemble more of a "regular" backpack.

    Been watching your videos. Very cool. The product is cool, authentic. I have a question: how do you make a patina on the edges?

    • @Mr.redacted.
      @Mr.redacted. 5 років тому

      If you mean the smooth edge of the leather it''s made with a tool called a "slicker". If you don't have one moisten the edge with a clean sponge. Then rub vigorously with a coarse cloth.
      In the vid he uses a motorized slicker

    • @user-qt6we2cu6f
      @user-qt6we2cu6f 5 років тому

      @@Mr.redacted. Thanks for the advice, but that's not what I meant. The parts darkened edges, like old, I'm guessing that with wax, but is made very carefully and dosed.

      I would usually use a black antique paste dye and start at the edges with either a rag or a wool dauber. Make small circles and when the applicator starts to dry out, swirl more towards the center of the piece. I then take a dry rag and blend it all together better to get that fade out to lighter towards the center.
