    This was a really crazy discovery when I realized the problem. Was yours spinning backwards too? PLEASE tell me about it below.

      so you had to completely flip the fan?

    • @TallFamilyFilms
      @TallFamilyFilms  3 роки тому +1

      @@alexsegoviaful thankfully no. The fan won’t mount backwards. But when you cut the wires and reverse them, it makes the Fan spin in the opposite (correct) direction. But make sure that yours is spinning the wrong direction first like I show in the video

      @@TallFamilyFilms thank you for the reply! I inspected my fan yesterday and noticed that, while running the test.. My fan will make the clicking sound and then it comes on as expected. But it never seems turn on while running the truck. I drove around town yesterday on the highways and my AC wouldn't stop blowing "warm" air. Any suggestions? Thank you once again!

    • @TallFamilyFilms
      @TallFamilyFilms  3 роки тому +1

      @@alexsegoviaful hey Alex - thanks for watching. A few things to look at, but first, basic AC is that the refrigerant gets hot inside the system and has to be cooled down. It cools down by going through a radiator-looking device in the very front of the car (the condenser). If you’re moving, the air cools it, but if you’re stopped you need the fan. That is the sole job of the fan - cool the radiator when the car is stopped (I believe it’s technically based on refrigerant temperature but being stopped would raise that temp).
      If your fan comes on at all, the relay is good and the fan is likely good. It has nothing to do with the truck actually driving - you could run the truck parked with the AC on full and you should clearly hear the fan turning on and off frequently if it’s hot out. If it works parked, it’s working while moving. If it doesn’t come on, let’s investigate that further.
      1. Test fan clutch: Take a small wooden rod and wrap the end with rolled up newspaper and duct tape it on well. When the fan is running, move it slowly into the path of the fan so it contacts the fan (the newspaper is to prevent the stick from breaking the plastic blades). You’re not trying to stick it in so far that the fan stops. You’re trying to see if the slightest obstruction stops the fan. If so, the fan needs to be replaced.
      2. Is the fan turning the right way? As the video shows, it should be pulling fresh air IN.
      3. Do you have enough refrigerant? Easy to check with a $30 can that has a built in gauge.

    Better to use automotive connectors. Stagger the cuts so they're a little apart from each other. And use heat shrink. Less bulge, water proof, and neater. Fits in the sheath.
    I like the test. If there is something wrong, will it show up in a display?

    • @TallFamilyFilms
      @TallFamilyFilms  3 роки тому +2

      Sadly, It will not show up in display - even if the fan is completely dead. I actually have the automotive connectors and the heat shrink - don’t know why I didn’t think of that. It would have made a much smaller bulge like you said. Thanks for pointing that out - hope others read your comment. The staggering is nice too because in the unlikely chance that both connections come loose, they won’t touch. If I correct that, I’ll post a quick follow up video.

      Compressor isn’t terrible. Just remember that once the coolant has been extracted (some shops will do it for free and just let them keep the coolant), it’s just nuts and bolts. There’s no magic yo doing AC work.

    Hello, I'm having the same issue that my a/c gets warm when coming to a stop or just parked. The a/c worked fine up until a few years ago. How does the fan start turning in the opposite direction if never touched?

    • @TallFamilyFilms
      @TallFamilyFilms  3 роки тому

      So, I don’t exactly have the answer to your question. I don’t know if the fan “starts doing this” due to some internal malfunction or if a fan has always done this which was my case because my fan had been replaced 18 months prior. if yours has suddenly stopped cooling at idle, and your fan is running backwards, PLEASE let us all know as that would help answer this question for others.
      The first thing you should check is if the fan is working at all. The second is if the fan is turning the wrong way (it’s so easy to test both of these as you can see in the video). If it gets cooler when moving, the condenser needs more airflow. We just need to know what is causing the lack of airflow.

    • @TallFamilyFilms
      @TallFamilyFilms  3 роки тому

      Ugh. I feel for you. That’s an actuator. They are mechanical parts that move “blend doors” open and closed and control things like hot/cold or vents/defrost. Your truck uses a different part to provide individual climate control for each front seat and your driver side door is stuck because the actuator likely died. Did you ever hear any kind of clicking noise? The sometimes do that too. Your truck has quite a few of these actuators and you need to know which one it is. I’d start by stopping by a Nissan dealer and going to the parts counter (not service). Talk to the guy and ask him if he can get you the part numbers and description of all the actuators (may be about 5). From that, he will have a diagram of where each one is and hopefully the names of the parts will help.
      Nissan had a recall of some of them - this guy details it in the video below. Yours won’t be in exactly the same place but these usually not easy parts to get to as you’ll see in the video.
      I wish you luck my friend - I have another video on my channel where I replace one as well. It’s not hard it’s just not fun.
