"I don't want it to be over!" is pretty much the stereotypical reaction when this video ends! Everybody chair-dances, everybody is sad when it ends! Unlike a lot of their medleys, the description for this video shows the song names and artists for all of the songs in the medley. I'll put in my vote for the live version they did at the Hollywood Bowl in Sept. 2022 - it's just as good, and it's all done live!
I love how PTX are such perfectionists. Cher's "Life After Love" had deliberate auto-tune added because Cher pioneered the use of AT in pop music on that very song.
I agree with the person downthread who said you should listen to the live Hollywood Bowl performance of this from September 2022. Also, the Popspring mini-concert from Japan is an amazing way to experience their earlier live vibe and skills.
And can we, just for a moment, recognize the genius that is Kevin Olusola? He flows from song to song and lays down the perfect beats for every song he's on and makes up probably half of the instrumentation that you hear. He's absolutely amazing! Excellent reaction! Cheers!
You may have been 8 years old again, but I went back to my high school/college dances and clubbing years! Sooo much dance music in the 90s! Loved watching your reaction to this!
@@SeanStaxxMusic frfr I turned 16 in 1990, so I went from school disco to clubbing, the noff to uni in 2000. The songs that were popular even as early as 90-93 were still popping in the early 00's student clubs. And nothing lit a dance floor like that hard opening "everybody dance now" of Gonna Make You Sweat (I think most people didn't even know that was the title of the song). So, even if they only played the opening few bars and mixed right into something else before the rap started, the DJs knew that just hearing those opening bars got people _hyped_. Pump Up The Jam had a similar effect but that was technically '89, I think, and idk that it was still as popular by the time the early 00s rolled around, if memory serves me right. Those 90's dance songs went hard, it was such good cardio dancing to them (and I didn't know anyone who could resist dancing to them either), who needed a gym lol. I'm feeling old now, lol.

Yes! Popspring 2016 is such a high quality recording (not fan cam) of a live 4 song set they did, I think, in Japan. (bonus, I don’t think it has issues with blocking) Evolution of Michael Jackson plus 3 originals. One is Scott forward, one Kirstie forward, and that is pretty well shared but Mitch has a rap section that he Owns! I’d love to hear your thoughts on more of their original stuff as well as their covers, aka upgrades. I’m going to have to go back and review your playlist for which of their ‘Evolution of..’ medleys you’ve done, as well as Superfruit, Scott & Mitch side project. There’s an album plus numerous medleys/Evolutions, and other fun things like doing a rap medley into Broadway style, and on & on. I see I wrote all this under a reply, so wonder if you’ll see it, rats. Fingers crossed!

I'm new to watching reactions on UA-cam, and really only watch the Pentatonix ones. Some reactions I can't stand, others are pretty fun to watch the Mitch-slap and other forms of shock at the monumental talent. And almost all of them talk/pause/talk/pause ad nauseum. I'm just really enjoying your enjoyment. I wouldn't call myself a Pentaholic, but I'm a classically trained singer and always appreciate when others appreciate music for music's sake, and not to analyze. So...thanks for that.

the 90's were my clubbing days and I liken it to a modern revival of old Disco I remember from the 70's LOL everything just made you move back then LOL
Keep trying with your uncle on the 80's music. Sometimes it takes more than one listen to get a feel for a new type of music you aren't that familiar with. There are many times I've listened to something for the first time, went "Meh" but came back and listened again later and got obsessed with it (examples: the "Les Miserables" musical soundtrack, Adele's first album and Pentatonix's first originals album). Also, there's a lot of variety in every music genre. I used to think I didn't like bluegrass but I figured out I just didn't like bluegrass vocals. Instrumental bluegrass at its best is mind-blowing.

Yes. Miles Reuben's channel has all of the Hollywood Bowl concert separated into all the different songs. It's the best recordings of the concert I've seen so far.

Hey bud...they auto-tuned to Cher's song Believe, like Cher did on Believe...pretty much the one who first did it. Can't believe you didn't really recognize that song from the first few words! HUGE HIT! You're great. Just FYI
They did Autotune "Believe" very deliberately because Cher was the first musician to use Autotune as a vocal effect, rather than pitch correction. It was so novel that the producer claimed they used a vocoder, to increase the mystique of the finish product. Fast forward a few years, and now it's everywhere. But Cher pioneered it, and PTX made it work. Their live performances are great, but Kevin's bongos and the Autotune are missing.

There is no auto tune. They did it for Making a Wish and it sounds the same.
They did Autotune "Believe" very deliberately because Cher was the first musician to use Autotune as a vocal effect, rather than pitch correction. It was so novel that the producer claimed they used a vocoder, to increase the mystique of the finish product. Fast forward a few years, and now it's everywhere. But Cher pioneered it, and PTX made it work. Their live performances are great, but Kevin's bongos and the Autotune are missing.
